Een beetje laat maar ik wou hem toch nog plaatsen.
De maan weerkaatst het licht van de zon. Een maansverduistering gebeurt als de aarde precies tussen de zon en de maan in komt. De maan staat dan in de schaduw van de aarde. Het zonlicht gaat wel langs de aarde. De dampkring buigt het dan af naar de maan. Rood licht wordt het best afgebogen. Daardoor kleurt de maan tijdens een verduistering rood. Dat wordt een bloedmaan genoemd.
De laatste keer dat een totale maansverduistering te zien was in Nederland, was in september 2015. Op 21 januari volgend jaar is er weer een totale eclips en daarna moeten we wachten tot september 2025.

Just after Midnight a thundercloud was torn and there appeared red rising crescent. Maybe red color was cause it was raining slightly and sky was full of humid air...?

Since I couldn't sleep last night, it would have been silly not to witness this. It may not be the sharpest shot but I am so glad I was awake to see it. I couldn't believe how clear the sky was. Obviously heavily cropped!
At least that's my shot done and dusted for today, which is going to be really busy, hope I get a chance to catch up on a few zzzzz's as well ;)
...didn't have the right lenses with me for moon close-ups, so here's the best thing one could do: try and capture the mood of the blood moon...

It was bit haze with a full red moon over the Stanford dish. I did not see the moorise over the horizon align with that dish. It is still better than foggy weather in the city IMO. The lucky one :)

Unfortunately the Red Moon Eclipse from Nov 19 was not visible in Germany, so I took my foto of the wonderful red moon from April.
Supermoon Lunar Eclipse 2015. The blood-red eclipse was captured from all around the world and I captured from not so clear sky of New Delhi (India). 'Blood Moon', takes its name from the reddish hue the moon takes as Earth's shadow passes over it. People in North America, South America, West Africa and Western Europe witnessed Total Lunar Eclipse.

Después de un paseo con el campo con el horizonte nublado, creí que no iba a poder hacer una foto del anunciado evento de "la luna de sangre", ni presenciarlo por primera vez, y, ahí estaba, enfrente de la puerta de mi casa, entre la chimenea y el pino de la casa de enfrente. Al AF le costaba encontrarla (porque, aunque rojiza estaba bajo la sombra de la tierra y brillaba muy poco) y, aunque no se registran los detalles de la superficie, si que se puede apreciar la singularidad de la luz que la envuelve.

I waited patiently for the moon to rise last night. When it popped up it was blood red due to the smoke from the Alamo fire to our south east.

Two photos taken seconds apart, first one at 1/100 (I think 😂) then a long exposure for the wheel and the magic of photoshop replaced one moon for the other!
Taken the day after the lunar eclipse as it was cloudy that night.......very cloudy!
