I had such fun with this week's Macro Mondays challenge - it's not something I've tried before, but choosing and arranging these snippets of autumn felt very therapeutic.
My favourites are the minute strands from a fir tree in the garden, middle right. They look to me like tiny plaited loaves under the macro lens!
(Knolling is the process of arranging different objects so that they are at 90 degree angles from each other, then photographing them from above.)
Maple trees are a wood that carries sound waves well and so it is thought of as a “tonewood”. That’s why some musical instruments are made from maple trees. Apparently, Les Paul wanted to try to make a guitar completely out of maple but he had to settle for just using it for the top of the guitar because of the weight of it. There is more to the ancient maples than the gorgeous colours and unique shapes of the leaves. Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

Most of the chestnut trees in the park have very sick leaves, but that one almost intact & natural red colors at the moment.
Chairs, Benches and Seats
This is yet another new series of photographs this time about Chairs and Benches with a few other seating items thrown in.
They can be Regal, Practical, Ultra Design items, Art Installations, used for Potty Training. They can even be vehicles of Execution. They hold immense power and none at all. From the densest populated cities, to the most remote parts of the world. Usually sturdy; reliable; honest; comfortable; often filled with people. People talking, sleeping, with their phones, eating, climbing to reach other items, feeding birds, making love and every scenario one can think of.
The imagination can run riot over the most important conversations that have taken place on them, what they could tell you if they could, what they would tell you if they wanted too. As usual I hope you enjoy what I have posted and this is the next in the series…….
I think that autumn is often the best season for leaves. Whilst we all enjoy seeing new leaves in spring after the barren season of winter, it is in autumn that we get to notice all the fine veining, delicate textures and sharp edges of the leaves as they change colour and array themselves in their autumnal costumes of reds, browns, oranges and golds.
Autumn is now well and truly with us here in Melbourne, and the cooler winds of seasonal change are blowing away the remnants of summer, like it tosses the red, gold and orange leaves that carpet the ground.
The other day was a perfect autumnal day in Melbourne: sunny, but not too bright, warm, but not hot, and perfectly still. Therefore I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions and take some photographs. I am particularly enamoured with red leaves in autumn, so imagine my delight when I chanced upon a street tree covered in what looked like a wonderful red autumnal leaf curtain!
Random stuff from last weekend. Enjoy mid-week, all.
This little vine getting its start might be Parthenocissus quinquefolia, virginia creeper. Someone can let me know; I usually mis-Google plants.
Hello Everyone!
Red is cheerful and bright, at least that's what I always thought about red. Beginning Nov. 12, 2020 Manitoba will be on full lockdown, the first Canadian Province to order another second full lockdown since the first one in March. Manitoba has been listed as Red which is considered Critical, the highest level on our Pandemic Response System. Green signifies Limited Risk of Transmission. After having the lowest rate of transmission during the summer, Manitoba now has the highest rate of transmission of Covid-19 in Canada with Winnipeg being the hotspot which is where I live. I just hope that everybody can do their part to get the numbers down. "Think Green" my fellow Manitobans and Canadians! We'll get this under control if everybody does their part! Please be safe! Keep well and hang in there!
Thanks so much for your supportive comments and your views! Always wonderful to hear from you! Have a terrific day!
