The Red Lacewing has a wide distribution in sub-tropical forests, where adults are most active in the morning and feed on nectar. The Red Lacewing has one of the most elaborate wing patterns of any butterfly. The dorsal surface (as seen in photo) is a striking bright red with black tips and edges. However, the underside has a complex pattern of black, yellow, white, and pink stripes, bands, spots, and chevrons. Seen at the Butterfly Conservancy, Cambridge, ON.

"Climate change is the greatest threat to humanity, perhaps ever. Global temperatures are rising at an unprecedented rate, causing drought and forest fires and impacting human health."

~Cary Kennedy

Inspired by record-breaking heat waves around the world.

This photo (digital painting) was originally for a photo I was going to do based on the Yellowstone TV series. It's been sitting on my computer for several months now, but with the heat wave many of us are experiencing, I decided to upload it (without the Longhorn) 🐂 which I intended first.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated!

Red Admiral - Buckfastleigh 03-06-2009 P1010669

In 1897, thousands of gold seekers were eager to cross the coastal mountains and reach the Klondike gold fields in the Yukon Territory.

Engine No. 52 is believed to be the first train to come to Skagway Akaska in 1898.

It is also believed to be the locomotive on the first passenger train to attain White Pass summit in 1899.

The Brooks 2-6-0 locomotive (2 leading wheels, 6 drive wheels, 0 trailing wheels – often referred to as a “Mogul”) spent its first year in the Skagway area and then moved to Lake Bennett. In 1931 it was transferred to the Taku Tram between Atlin and Tagish Lakes. Retired in 1936, it spent the next 28 years on a siding at Taku before being returned to Skagway because of its historical significance. It was damaged in a roundhouse fire in 1969. After minor repairs is sat rusting on a Skagway train yard siding until 2014 when it was cosmetically restored and put on display near the railroad depot in downtown Skagway.

Parked beside ole Engine No. 52 is a retired rotary snow plow used by the White Pass & Yukon Railroad: Rotary Snow Plow Number 1!

The plow spins its huge blades and throws snow to the side. It was built in 1898 and cleared the tracks until 1964. It was restored in 1995 and paired up for display with ole Engine No 52 - Port Skagway, Alaska

Information as per online sources.

Thank-you for all the overwhelming support and many friendships.

I have been looking at these two pomegranates for a few days now and I was thinking that because of their texture they would be a good model for photography. Thanks to this week's topic, my pomegranates was given the opportunity to be shown publicly.

Thank you , my friends , for your visits ...

Photographed from above, on a sunny day, as the spider paralyzed the ladybird with it's venom. Single shot macro image, so not a lot of DOF.

Seen in my backyard in Tucson, Arizona. It's only the second one I have seen in Tucson in 22 years.
