Sharp-shinned Hawk
While recuperating from an encounter with my window, this little sharpie relaxed and watched birds from my birdwatching chair. He did fully recover and fly off
A Red-tailed Hawk mantling a lure at the Northwest Raptor Center.
The adrenaline involved in taking down prey/lure is such that after landing it takes a good five or more minutes for the raptor to let go of it's catch. Mantling hides their catch from other predators while they recuperate from the hunt and eat.
As the hawk landed near the edge of the flying field, just in front of me, I didn't think twice about laying down in the dirt to capture this behaviour.

I had 3 days away in June as part of my recuperation progress and visited Inverpolly Nature Reserve in the Scottish Highlands.
Using the camera on a tripod with a slow shutter speed to get more light on the foreground I was lucky as a 'murder of crows' started wheeling about, alas the slow shutter speed rendered them a bit blurry.
...inspired by the formation of the "To Be Still" group and our first challenge...(actually it compelled me to finally set up my mini studio equipment and do something with it!) I have about five or six more ready for upload...I'm so indecisive right now, however, and cannot decide what to upload when--and then, of course, what to enter in the challenge... :)
Thank you, everyone!!!
--just a note...my family and I are recuperating from the flu at the moment, so I'm moving verrry slowly and catching up as I can...thank you all for your patience and understanding!

Wikipedia: Ao Phang Nga National Park (Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติอ่าวพังงา) is in Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand. It includes coastal sections of Mueang Phang Nga District and Takua Thung District. Most of the park consists of an area of the Strait of Malacca studded with numerous limestone tower karst islands. The best known of these islands is Khao Phing Kan, popularly called "James Bond Island" because it was used as a location for the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun. The dramatic appearance of the islands with their sheer sides has made the area a popular tourist attraction. The park also protects the largest area of native mangrove forest remaining in Thailand.
The effects of mass tourism on the park prompted Fodor's Travel to place the park on their "No List" for 2018, suggesting that tourists skip the park in order to allow it to recuperate from being loved to death.
I took this shot last weekend when we were experiencing a second dust storm in less than a week. That's why the sky has this beautiful red tinge and I was able to shoot this with the sun directly in frame without any flaring. It was a beautiful sight to see.
I've been recuperating from my fall for the last week. Thanks for everyone's good wishes. I'm back to editing my photos from the trip and there's thousands! A bit overwhelming really :)
Have a great week everyone.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today we have a black and white day at Color My World Daily and it is Sliders Sunday. I must admit that I had a few too many gin and tonics if you are reading this, someone (maybe not me, we will never be sure) got up and press the « publish » button without knowing it ….
Since we had a new sofa and we had our last swim of the season in our pool ( yes it was rather cold in Montreal but it is our first year as a pool owners so we had to do it !!) there was plenty to celebrate yesterday. I’m very grateful for my pictures archives because once again an « old » picture saved my life on Flickr !
I hope you like it and see you later my friends (I need my super long hungover-beauty sleep and i will be back like new in a few hours ! My Polish genes are very awesome for recuperating after a hangover ;-) !). And if you want to know how I feel today, please feel free to refer to my picture.
See you later alligator !
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and healthy!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Desconozco si se trata de una ninfa o un ejemplar adulto y después de buscar mucho en el intento de identificarlo, me pregunto si puede pertenecer a la especie Chorthippus parallelus?.

I do not know if it is a nymph or an adult specimen and after searching a lot in an attempt to identify it, I wonder if it could belong to the species Chorthippus parallelus?.

i still don't have much energy,
recuperating from a surgery
that kicked my butt...
thank you so much for your loving
inquiries, much appreciated. ♥
hope you are all well and healthy.
happy sliderssunday!
On Wednesday of this week, i will be undergoing surgery on my shoulder, and of course, its my dominant right-hand side. It will be a challenge for awhile to post and/or comment so am leaving you with a few wildflowers. And, while I recuperate, I will be going crazy cause I can't lift my camera! Hope I'm gonna get through that somehow! If I can at least train my left hand on the mouse to "fave" I will do so.
Wishing everyone a safe upcoming July!
I’m back! Flickr deactivated my account so I was some days trying to recuperate it.
This photo is one of my favorites. It was the first “great” picture I took. This capture motivates me to continue working on photography. I was waiting a big momment to post this photo, but after this days I think every day is a good day to post the pictures I loved.
Hope you can enjoy it!
As you might know, I have the dread COVID. So far it has been difficult, but I believe the fact that I have had both original shots and two boosters has made it far milder than it would have otherwise been.
Because I am stuck at home to recuperate, when I have the energy, I am reexamining some of my older shots and am reediting and reposting some of them.
This is the view from my son's house at Rocky Butte, where i am recuperating from sugery to breakup two kidney stones. Edited using Deep Dream Generator and Snapseed. HSS everyone!
Six years ago I had an accident in which I nearly died and lost the use of my 'taking' eye for a while.
During my recuperation I bought a point and shoot (Canon S70) which enabled me to use the LCD for composition.
I went for walks in woods to try and gain some inspiration - I have always loved woods and forests - the camera became an extension of me and allowed me to create visual metaphors for my inner 'turmoil'.
So, they are like poems..........and as such, they are (and always have been) very difficult to put 'out there' - it is like writing a personal poem and then putting it in front of the class for them to laugh at - little knowing that they are laughing at the deepest, realest you.
So if you are to comment, please do so with consideration
Many thanks,
Andrew
Friday night in my part of the world and currently recuperating from a long and toxic work week.. i will visit streams as soon as my energy allows me.. for now, just warm hugs and wishing everybody great weekend ahead..

The salt marshes extend from Trapani to Marsala almost (west side of the island) and cover an area of approximately 970 hectares. Some are still in operation, and the marsh area is a nature reserve managed by WWF since 1995. This management by WWF allows the restoration of mills, which often fall into disrepair. But this management also makes this area a very beautiful animal reserve rich in wading birds, Flemish birds, fishing hawks ... and all kinds of migratory birds.
The recovery of salt in the region dates from the Phoenicians, salt was then essential for the preservation of food. The port of Trapani then saw its importance grow in the 12th century with the exploitation of salt, considered to be the best in Italy. Even today this salt is considered to be a luxury salt, widely used in haute cuisine.
Unlike the slightly gray Guérande salt, except for the fleur de sel, the Trapani and regional salt is very white. This white is probably due to the fact that it is warmer than in France, and therefore that evaporation is faster, the sand does not have time to settle on the salt.
LOCK-DOWN
We have had to date, a miserable May. Early May my wife had a bad fall and had a stay in hospital. Because of a head injury she has been slow to recuperate but we’re getting there.
A close friend also had a bad fall but unfortunately it lead to an early onset of Alzheimer’s and she has now been placed in a care home. Finally another good friend who had bad health has now passed away with a viral infection.
In many ways it seems that LOCKDOWN has not totally passed by although we are still getting our boosters, those that are in bad health or over 75.
Apologies to all that I have not been on Flickr lately however I will now be trying to catch up.
Keep safe to all and greetings. Patrick
Ps We did manage to get a few days away to Norfolk and we both are going back to art classes

A challenge entry for Handheld Art’s “Mix these Pix”. Source image by Cathy Labudak, mixed with a handful of beautiful doors I found on a recent trip. (So recent I still haven’t recovered and haven’t left the house in four days....) Hence, the quiet fun of creating something while I recuperate!

The medieval village of Savignano sul Panaro offers all visitors, throughout Spring and Summer 2023, one more reason to be admired and photographed: flowered chairs have been placed in the streets of the village. Specifically, these are recovered and restored seats, painted with different colours, inside which flowers and plants of different varieties have been placed: geraniums, ivy, daisies, etc. These chairs will remain placed on the sides of the road which, from the foot of the village, goes up to the church.

Life is a circle of ups and downs much like a Ferris wheel... and just like riding a Ferris wheel we ought to rejoice and recuperate as we reach the bottom... for the next ascend would be more adventurous and rewarding wouldn't you agree?. Are you ready for the next push?

This picture of Grande Roue de Paris was taken from Jardin des Tuileries. Hope you will like it as much as I do.
This is the last picture I shot while living in Berlin, from the place where last night a line person perpetrated an act of terror against Berliners and visitors alike. I hope we can all remember this city as the lively and welcoming place it had become during the last decades and I hope that fear and hate will not change the way Berliners live and feel. My thoughts are with the families of victims and those who recuperate in hospitals and my hope is with reason to prevail and politics to stop stirring up shit and polarising people and peoples.

She stayed with me pretty much 24/7 while recuperating, plenty of rest and watching World Cup soccer.
If you were going to design a seat for watching the sun rise over the ocean, you’d struggle to do better than this one - thoughtfully produced by Mother Nature herself. This is Spoon Bay, another (yes, another) favourite stretch of coast of mine.
Thought for the day: if you could un-invent one thing, what would it be?
For me, it would be that super-tight plastic packaging some things come in - the kind that requires sharp scissors, months of strength training. That, and USB connectors. A true marvel of engineering that somehow needs to be tried, flipped, tried again, flipped again, and repeated exactly three times before one end miraculously decides it’s happy to go in.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Just enough time to recuperate for New Year celebrations ;)
I'm back after a few days recuperating and ready to ramble... mostly about my poor little hurt cat! readmeri.wordpress.com/2020/05/05/cherry-whips/
Greetings and may 2020 be a good year for you all. This shot was taken on Christmas Day at Cardiff Bay just before a fishing trip with my son. I was hoping to be back posting in January after a horrible year in 2019 but last Monday my son was taken seriously ill and my OH and I rushed him to A&E in the early hours. To cut a long story short he underwent an emergency operation and is now staying with us while he recuperates. I hope to catch up with everyone soon but my main priority at the moment is to get the patient fully well. Best wishes to you all.
I have been recuperating with foot issues and finally got to get back out on the trail. Myakka Preserve in Sarasota, FL

In the large bay area around Bar Harbor the numerous islands and inlets provide some degree of protection from the full fury of the North Atlantic Ocean and numerous small and some moderately larger boats go along the coast setting lobster traps. Back in the 19th century huge large lobsters were still common but now under law way too many lobsters have to be thrown back because they are too small and young. Of course a moratorium of lobster fishing in the area for a couple of decades would do wonders for letting the lobster population recuperate but don't hold your breath on seeing that happen anytime soon.

Apologies for being behind with comments on everyone's photos. I've been recuperating after an operation last week & just getting back on track. Plus my wireless mouse packed up, so hard getting used to the touchpad on the laptop again. New mouse has now arrived 👌
This little sparrow hit one of our windows and knocked himself out. We put him in a box and kept him in a dark, quiet room for several hours for him to try to recuperate. This time it was a happy ending and this was his release.
Just going through some of my untouched files from earlier this year as I recuperate from Covid. I have never posted a wider shot of Kelly Hall Tarn showing its rather diminutive size in relation to its location. It tends to be a location where photographers focus in on one of the trees and their reflections in the Tarn, so I thought why not post this perspective!
The Old Man of Coniston looms in the background with some weather rolling in over Dow Crag from the West. Behind me lies the rest of Torver Common before it falls away to the shores of Coniston Water. For a small roadside location, this place gets lots of action, particularly at sunset. You can just make out one of the fir trees lying on its side by the Tarn, having been laid low by Storm Arwen.

This is in a famous Gannet colony. We got as far (5 miles), but just beyond the “Black Reef” we were blocked because of a deep water we could not get around. However, we were lucky to find hundreds of gannets in this area and nesting! This one in particular had just bumped the next one (in the photo of the gannet on the sand) off a small cliff, probably for getting too close to its chick! It fell on its side and then recuperated but stood there stunned for quite a while. Finally got to photo a bird which stood still long enough and close enough (unfortunate for him though) so I could get a good capture! This is an amazing place and well worth the rocky beach hike!

A Message to all of my Flickr friends.
Firstly may I take this opportunity to thank you all for your views, faves, and comments on my photos. These are all very much appreciated by me, and are my reasons for being a flickr member.
About a week ago I suffered a major failure of a hard drive on my computer which contained several thousands of my photographs. Fortunately I had backed up this data, and I worked feverishly for a period of over 24 hours to replace the hard drive and restore my photos. This was not as straightforward as it sounds as I ran into other difficulties on the way the details of which I will not bore you with. Suffice to say that it was an arduous and time consuming affair which left me physically exhausted mainly because I was stupid enough to work at the matter without a break. I did however successfully rebuild my computer and restore my data but unfortunately left my own health depleted. I suspect that as a direct result of this I succumbed to a Covid like virus which literally caused my collapse. Fortunately all my Covid vaccinations were up to date and I suspect that I have been spared the full impact of that virus though judging only by the impact it has had on me, I can fully sympathise with anyone contracting the virus who has not been vaccinated fully.
I regret that it has left me in a very weak state both physically and mentally and, in an effort to recuperate my strength and health, I have decided to take a complete break from Flickr of at least a month.
I apologise for this absence and I truly shall miss you all and your photos and look forward to rejoining you as soon as possible. May I thank you all for your kind past support and friendship and assure you that I will be looking forward to rejoining you all once more in the future.
Finally may I wish you all the Compliments of the Season, may your God be with you all, and may each of you enjoy a very Happy New Year.
Sincerely, tony arpino.

A homage to my hometown Essen in Germany's Ruhr district. "Greener" than most folks might think, the city offers quite a variety of views to enjoy, such as the GRUGA fountain basin.
The Bufflehead is a small sea duck that breeds in Alaska and Canada and migrates to southern North America in the winter. These adorable ducks are the smallest diving ducks in North America. I live on a barrier Island that protects wildlife and is a major stopover for migrating birds on the Atlantic Flyway that are in need of rest, food and recuperation.

THEY ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
Following the surprise visit by the warbler, we had a later bump on our patio windows.
After a recuperation period under our shed, a young robin made haste with it's exit, to spare it's blushes.
This little beauty was enjoying the late afternoon rays.

This lake is one of the greatest natural attractions of the region of Teruel. Since 2006, this wetland between Cella and Villarquemado is being restored in different steps in which can practically be followed as a live project.
The target is to control 300 to 400 ha of flood, making profit of an environment that was drained throughout history to exploit the richness of the soil for growing crops. Before 1729, when the process for complete drying started, a total length of nearly 10 km2 has been reached.

I need to interrupt the beauty of Hawrelak Park with this bulletin. After I returned from Hawrelak and had some time to warm up, it came to my attention that the squirrel was some upset over the mouse showing him up in the levitation department. He called me over and gave me a severe dressing down and insisted that I document the fact that he’s still the supreme ruler over all things levitation. You know me, there was no way I was going to decline this opportunity and my fingers had recuperated by that time. We were a definite go for this. He did not disappoint, I was blown away. He actually showed me his best stuff. And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why competition rules. It propels us to hitherto unknown heights. Both of us were, to say the least, somewhat excited …
Just a couple of more technical things about levitation here. Most of you may be under the impression that levitation is something that happens in slow motion like when an Indian guru does it. Well, most of the time, this is not the case. You have to be on your toes because the event is over in the flash of an eyeblink. Speaking of being on your toes, like many of my other shots, including the ones from Hawrelak, I employed my favorite shooting technique, the sitting down and enjoying life scenario. This one taken from my swing bench. So, don’t get too hung up over which is the proper shooting stance and how your feet should be positioned for this or that, just relax and get it done :-)
Have a wonderful week!
Believe it or not, this looks pretty cool when pressing on the + thingy.
