The Fania All-Stars is a musical group formed in 1968 as a showcase for the musicians on Fania Records, the leading salsa music record label of the time.

In 1964, Fania Records was founded in New York City by Jerry Masucci, an Italian-American lawyer with a love for Cuban music, and Johnny Pacheco, a flutist, percussionist and bandleader born in the Dominican Republic but raised in the South Bronx who had like minded musical tastes. Masucci later bought out his partner Pacheco from Fania Entertainment Group, Ltd. and was the sole owner until his death in December 1997.

'Mamão in Zwolle' | Zwolle is a historic city in the Netherlands, known for its charming canals and medieval architecture. It’s the capital of the Overijssel province and a vibrant hub for culture, education, and business. The city blends old-world beauty with modern innovation and a welcoming community spirit.

In the hush of a record fair in Zwolle,

dust and memory danced in the light.

Rows of cardboard dreams whispered,

and somewhere between soul and samba, he waited.

The German seller — calm, knowing —

slid the sleeve from his box like a secret,

vinyl glinting with a soft promise:

Ivan Conti — the first heartbeat.

I held it like a relic,

the pulse of Rio folded in cardboard,

the scent of time and tape and sun.

Azymuth’s ghost smiled through the grooves,

and Mamão — laughing, eternal —

tapped his sticks somewhere beyond the clouds.

Back home, the needle fell,

and the air turned golden with rhythm.

Every hi-hat a heartbeat,

every bassline a bridge across oceans.

Zwolle became Rio for a moment,

and me — the finder, the listener —

became part of the song.

Live is the final album by fusion band Return to Forever. It was recorded live at the Palladium in New York City on May 20 and 21 1977 as part of the Musicmagic tour to support the album of the same name. This was the only tour to feature the Musicmagic (1977) lineup, which included original members Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, and Joe Farrell, along with newly added member, Chick Corea's wife, Gayle Moran on vocals, piano and organ, and a six-piece horn section.

Originally released as a single LP, the album was #re_issued in 1978 as a four LP set called Return to Forever Live: The Complete Concert, which contained the full concert as heard by those who attended, including extended sections of dialogue and audience applause.

Brazilian group started out in the early 70s as Grupo Seleção, a cover band. In 1973, they switched the name to Azymuth, inspired by a Marcos & Paulo Sérgio Valle song. Their first album, also named Azymuth, was released two years later and featured the hit 'Linha do Horizonte'. In 1976, they recorded other minor hits like the single 'Melô da Cuíca' and 'Jazz Carnival', taken from the 1979 'Light as a Feather' album.

The trio moved to the United States in the early 80s, producing a number of albums that never came out in Brazil, and placing their bets on a mix of samba, funk and jazz that they defined as MPB-jazz (MPB for Popular Brazilian Music). The main composer, keyboardist J.R. Bertrami, left the group in 1988, and was replaced by Jota Moraes and Marinho Boffa, but returned in the middle of the following decade, when the group signed with the label Far Out. Bertrami died in 2012. Keyboardist Kiko Continentino joined drummer Ivan 'Mamão' Conti and bassist Alex Malheiros

Blacksmoke is a 1970s music group signed by former Crusaders member-turned-record producer Wayne Henderson for his At-Home Productions.

Originally named Smoke, the group was conceived in Compton, California in 1972. They were signed to Chocolate City Records in 1976 and their self-titled album was distributed by Casablanca Records & Filmworks in 1976. The album produced two hit singles, Your Love Has Got Me Screaming and There It Is. When it was discovered that another music act had been using the name 'Smoke' prior to their releases, the initial records were pulled off the market and the label revised the group name and reissued the album with the updated name on the new album cover. They left Chocolate City in 1977 to join Henderson's At-Home Productions, where they remained until the group's disbanding.

The group was composed of songwriter Michael Fisher, on lead vocals and lead guitar, with his brother Anthony 'Tony' Fisher, on electric bass and background vocals. Arnold Riggs Jr. sang lead vocals also and played percussion. Ray Genovese played drums and Rodney Thompson played keyboards. Bradford Henry Thoelke III played slide trombone and bass trombone. Clifford Ervin Jr. played trumpet and flugelhorn, and Milton 'Buddy' McDaniels played saxophones and flute.

Eubanks was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he began studying the violin at the age of 7 with good results, later becoming equally good at playing the piano and the trumpet. He says he fell in love with the guitar at a memorable #JamesBrown concert he had attended when he was 12 and then, when he announced to his parents that he would like to add the guitar to his instrumentation, they were far from happy at the thought of having to pay for other lessons. Nonetheless, he bought a guitar and began learning to play it on his own. His references were Wes Montgomery , #JohnMcLaughlin and #JimiHendrix. He played with Art Blakey , Roy Haynes , Slide Hampton , and Sam Rivers before starting his own group in 1983 . Like his brother Robin Eubanks , a jazz trombonist , he participated in studio recordings with Dave Holland

The Electro Keyboard Orchestra was a Japanese group featuring eight keyboard players, all on Korg synthesizers. Specifically, they're using two early models, the MiniKorg 700S and the MaxiKorg 800DV, twenty of them shared amongst the group. Though there's also a super-tight rhythm section, the songs are obviously dominated by the keys. Among the highlights are a cover of Quincy Jones's 'Ironside' theme and a fantastic original, 'The Soaring Sea Gull'. With so many different synth layers combining to create melodies and bass grooves.

A great Brazilian set from Cal Tjader quite different than most of his other work of the time. Although Cal spent most of his time at #FantasyRecords working in a mixture of jazz and #AfroCuban styles, he steps off here in a very #Brazilian 70’s mode one that has some great links with jazz trends going on in Brazil at the time. Production is by Airto and arrangements are by #GeorgeDuke and there’s a wonderful crossing of Rio and California in the set – one that uses keyboards from #EgbertoGismonti, flute from #HermetoPascoal, guitars by #DavidAmaro, and trombone from #RaulDeSouza. Dawilli Gonga aka george duke plays some especially nice keyboards on the set and titles include a great version of #JoaoDonato’s 'Amazonas.'

This is the music that comes from my ancestors land, Indonesia. It is called Gamelan, music that I heard since i was a kid. Also, at our family gatherings, Kroncong was played - and my parents, uncles and aunts danced their graceful Indonesian dance. Beside my usual posts, from now on i will introduce to you this music, with the hope that will inspire you in any way.
