The Ibn Battuta Mall is a large shopping mall on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. Having more than 270 shops, 50 restaurants, a 21-screen cinema and over 4,500 parking spaces on a total of 521,000 square meters, Ibn Battuta is the world’s largest themed shopping mall.

It consists of six courts, each of whose designs are inspired by some of the countries visited by the great Moroccan Berber explorer, Ibn Battuta:

Egypt Court

India Court

China Court

Andalusia Court

Persia Court

Tunisia Court

A chippy chipmunk is posing on a pine branch along the four lakes trail in the Buffalo Pass area of Routt National Forest in Northern Colorado.

The trail is a very beautiful and quite moderate -- some would say, easy - loop, not too short and not too long, not too steep but not at all flat. It does go by the requisite number of lakes, with rocky islands, perfect reflections, and pine forests. The trail starts from the Buffalo Pass parking lot. The road up there is unpaved and rocky, all guides recommend a high-clearance vehicle to get there. You can get there in a passenger vehicle and I am a living proof of that, but it is a pretty harrowing experience, especially on the way back down. So don't be like me and get a Jeep to go up there.

I cannot recommend the full-day Denali bus tour enough. There is only one road in Denali National Park. There are no privately owned vehicles allowed past the 15 mile point, and the park operates two bus tours that go further. On our bus tour - the Kantishna Experience - we were able to see several grizzlies. At least 8 of which were no more than 50 yards away.

It rained all day, which made viewing Denali all-but impossible, but seeing all of this wildlife was more than worth the trip. This yearling was with a sibling and their mama foraging for berries. By mid-August, these bears can think of nothing else. They need to gain weight in advance of the winter months when they will be hibernating. They were not disturbed by the diesel bus or the shutters clicking away near by...but this guy did seem to be having enough of the cold rain.

Congrats on Explore!

First morning in the Hajing Valley after travelling almost non stop from Ulaanbaatar. Woke up early, thanks jet lag, and grabbed a cup of coffee and headed out for the ridge to enjoy the sunrise. Couldn't resist placing my cup down for a quick pic of my new favorite coffee house - I highly recommend it. The service isn't the best but the views are spectacular!

In 1908, the Düsseldorf-based Central-trade-ssociation for Rhineland, Westphalia and neighbouring districts praised a competition for a fountain in front of the Düsseldorf Art Palace.

As a "figurative representation of the iron industry and the mining industry," it was to be sent to the 1902 on the site on the banks of the Rhine (then Kaiser Wilhelm Park, now Rheinpark) the industrial and commercial exhibition was held.

Among the 44 designs submitted, the jury, which was prominently occupied by the painter Fritz Roeber, the painter Georg Oeder, the architect Wilhelm Kreis and the Düsseldorf garden director Walter von Engelhardt, was Prize awarded, so also do not recommend a design for execution. It was initially planned to give the authors of the shortlisted drafts the opportunity to revise them in a second stage of competition (a closer competition).

The fountain was built in its original form between 1911 and 1913. While the Düsseldorf architect Gotthold Nestler designed the actual well complex, the sculptor Friedrich Coubillier created the three bronze figures "Schmied Vulkan," "Bergmann" and "Hüttenarbeiter." Miner and cottage worker are depicted in the loincloth. The bronze casting of the figures took place at the Kunstgießerei Lauchhammer.

On the occasion of the opening of the Grand Art Exhibition in 1913, the industrial fountain in front of the former Art Palace was inaugurated. In 1925 the fountain was dismantled there because of the extensive new buildings at the Ehrenhof.

In 1939, the three sculptures were erected in a new facility on Fürstenplatz in Friedrichstadt. In 1942 the figures were to be melted down as metal donations by the German people for armaments and were removed. However, they remained intact, and in 1950 they were restored.

L'anse Magaud

Magaud Cove

Ideally located a stone's throw from the city, the wild and unspoiled shore of Magaud can be discovered after a few efforts of walking! A jewel of the Mediterranean nestled between high cliffs, it reveals to swimmers the discreet charm of a beautiful pebble beach, sheltered by pine trees. Not recommended for the little ones and those who move with difficulty!

In Magaud, diving enthusiasts set off to explore the seabed, while young and old alike climb the many submerged rocks that line the beach. If the site is known to the people of Toulon for its steep walks, it is also scrupulously guarded in summer.

The waters of the Barnet Physic Well, located on the Common, were recommended as a remedy for various medical complaints in William Camden's Brittania (1586) as "The Barnet Whey" but only became well-known as a source of mineral water during the second half of the 17th century. In 1652 the well was described as producing "an excellent purging water" that worked as well as that of Epsom water but with half the quantity.

A well-house was built in 1656[3] and in 1661 the Well was described as "famous" by Joshua Childrey in his book Natural Rarities of England, Scotland and Wales.[14] In 1662, Thomas Fuller in Worthies of England hoped that its waters would save as many lives as were lost in the Battle of Barnet,[14] and Samuel Pepys recorded his visits in 1664 and 1667 in his Diary,[14] drinking five glasses of the water on his first visit which caused him to need to urinate "seven or eight times upon the road" home.[15] The Well was also mentioned by Daniel Defoe in his Tour of the Whole Island of Britain (1720s). It was popular into the 18th century but subsequently declined until being restored in the 20th century. A new Tudor-style well-house was built in 1937[14] which was restored in 2018.[15]

This sim reminds me of the beaches near Truro - wild, ungroomed with trees etched by a lifetime of wind and sand. It is lovely and if you are looking for a place to wander and contemplate life, I recommend a visit.

When in Banff I recommend a visit and tour of this iconic "Castle of the Rockies." Amazing inside and out. With the Bow River flowing below and the river's falls just to the right in this frame and Mt. Rundle rising majestically across the valley there is much to admire around it as well.

"The hotel opened in 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as one of the earliest of Canada's grand railway hotels. The original wooden structure burnt down in 1926, the replacement structure was made up of a steel frame, clad in Rundle limestone.

The Banff Springs Hotel includes 757 guest rooms and suites spread throughout the hotel property plus 12 restaurants."

Often I hear of people saying how cynical they are getting in places like SL.

Really isn't life all about lessons learned.

I'm a dreamer and I'm a believer. As silly as it may seem. Having said that I'm a realist too. I want to believe the best in people.

I was amazed of the huge, I mean very huge LCD monitor in The Village as shown in my previous upload, but I was more amazed, I mean, astonished of the gigantic LCD that The Place has. There are two, four storey shopping malls beneath two office towers. A huge skyscreen links the two malls. The screen itself is a massive 4800 square meters! At night this screen is an amazing diversion for shoppers and a reflection of Beijing’s determination to show off its modern capabilities when it hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Onscreen is the aerial view of the legendary Great Wall of China.

White trout lilies are also commonly called dogtooth violets, though only God would know the reason why. These delightful spring wildflowers are in the lily family and as you can see here their green leaves are mottled with purple much like the backs of our resident brook trout. By the way, both the leaves and bulbs of trout lilies are edible and quite delicious if collected at the proper time but since we no longer need to survive by foraging in the forest I would recommend letting them live free.

I recommend you visit this Sim. When I came to this house, I fell in love, as it did a few years ago the movie gives this post its name. But I wanted to add a touch of my own to my photo. I missed that mailbox where I received those beautiful letters. Thanks to my sponsor Sway's ❤️

The birth of the first emoticon is very controversial and very complex, then for the curious recommend going to read on wikipedia :))

Curiosity:

According to some, the emoticon is merely a stylized smiley created by Harvey R. Ball very fashionable in the seventies and eighties.

There is an earlier case of emoticons ante litteram, in the novel One, No One hundred thousand of Luigi Pirandello (1926), in which you use graphic signs to describe a facial expression.

"My eyebrows looked like two eyes caret, ^ ^, my ears were badly attacked, a wack of the other; and other defects ... ">>

(Luigi Pirandello, One, No One and One Hundred Thousand)

Thanks for stopping by, always much appreciated :)
