My computer crashed, lost almost all of my photos, can't get used to a new camera (and new computer with Windows 11) - found this old image (among several old ones which were recovered by repairperson)

Sometimes I think we are all guilty of allowing perfection to erode confidence when in the expression of art, in its many, sometimes in fact, its infinite forms, that one is disillusioned until the abridging of expression and allowance of imperfection is somewhat lost, entangled in the needy concentration of being so particular, so acute and if I dare so maddening toward oneself, that the real picture of the moment as was is completely lost.

I took this daytime long exposure and I hated it, so many technical mistakes, unsteady camera, over-exposed, motion blur, blah, blah, blah and more bloody blah. But then I slapped it into Monochrome and instantly I was reminded of the sense of the timelessness, that the moment was trying to convey. After all, was the Heron bothered, does the water stop flowing, does the day stand still, absolutely not. So I was left with a sense of realisation that this is what it is, and therefore, should be allowed to breathe as such.

In reference to Miserere Mei, this is one of my favourite pieces by the Oxford Chamber Choir and this image reminded me of it, I've popped the link down below; anyhow, we're nearly there my friends, I trust everyone has a great weekend, sorry this was so long winded, but as always, thank you! :)

Lolha photographed in golden light at the end of a lovely day's walk (or run!)

Recalling my days in Tahiti studying with Gauguin. You can see I didn't get very far.

...the name of this?*

*Thanks to Keith Todd, we can call this wild carrot, or Queen Anne's lace (North America), among other names.

It was cloudy when I headed outdoors. Then the darn hot sun reappeared.

Taken this morning, 2023, but I now see that the camera’s battery lost a year. How does this happen?

Make sure you pause to #recall all that is good in life - sunshine, the woods with snow, cats, houseplants, lovely shade of blue paint, and being alive.

With all the processing options available today, it seems we become programmed to look at photos and immediately analyze what might be done to tweak them to make them better in some way. I recall when I first began photography 8 or so years ago, I knew nothing about anything and thus deleted at least 90% of my photos upon review, often all of them. Now, even though I still don't know much, I delete none on the basis of being possibly able to do something with them. Sometimes I do with pleasing results. Most of the time I do not and they remain buried in the archives where they will probably never do more than take up space.

When this view of the far north end of the lake (where the turtles bask in the spring and summer but have now already vanished into their hibernational haunts) appeared, now habitual thinking said, "what does this need?" I thought for a while and finally determined that there was really nothing I could do to make this photo better. Different maybe, but not better. Perhaps you agree.

So here you have it...an actual unenhanced SOOC snap shot of my beloved northwoods entering prime time for color. Maybe not too artsy...but still kind of pretty...;-))

The Roman district of Garbatella was designed in 1920 by famous architects and intended for the working class of the time. The style is the "Roman late baroque", with sinuous shapes that give life to neo-medieval buildings.

the whole district, with the fountains, the buildings, the balconies, the villas, the stuccoes and the green spaces, recalls this concept of the Garden City and can be considered a large open-air monument as well as an example of humanistic architecture

Recalling sunrise on Patrica Lake, Jasper. Such a lovely way to start the day.

What a beautiful bird!! Hang on. What are those yellow things at the base of his beak? Probably feather mites! I don't recall seeing those on any of the bluebirds I've photographed prior to this spring.

The reader may recall the legend about a jealous Brahma trying to keep humans from discovering their divinity. Brahma called a council of the gods to help decide on the right place to conceal their divinity. ‘Let’s bury it deep in the earth,’ said one of the gods. But Brahma said, ‘No, that will not do because humans will eventually dig into the earth and discover it.’ Then another said, ‘Let’s hide it in the deepest part of the ocean.’ But Brahma said, ‘No, they will eventually dive down into the ocean and will discover it.’ Another said, ‘Let’s take it to the top of the highest mountain and hide it there.’ But once again Brahma replied, ‘No, that will not do either, because they will eventually climb every mountain and will find it.’ The assembly fell silent.

Brahma sat quietly and thought for a long time and then said, ‘Well, there is one place they will never look’. ‘Where’s that?’, the gods queried eagerly. ‘They will never look inside their own hearts’, said Brahma. ‘If we hide it there, they shall never find it!’

I don't recall ever seeing these flowers with the white petals before! They go through so many stages that it's difficult to keep track. They are fascinating flowers.

Better on black & fullscreen : )

Some of you may recall I uploaded a panorama last week of the cloud inversion I saw over the poppy fields.

I wasn't terribly happy with that, I took it down in the end and had a fresh look at the photos I took. I was disappointed with them largely, they all looked really washed out and hazy. I think my cheap telephoto lens has seen better days and I may need to invest in a new one. Also having spent more time in the field opposite I had time against me with the light getting brighter so my settings weren't right.

This one looked the best so I have done some serious editing. There were terrible dust spots so this included a complete sky replacement (trying to keep it natural as there wasn't really much of a sky on the day) also endless tweaking with the colours.

I will send off for a print of it to see how it looks.

When memories of distant places and events begin to blur with the passing years, old passports are great for recall.

I recall the term 'Fair weather fishermen' when I used to go angling and I'm afraid the same term applies to us amateur photographers. Getting out early on a winter's morning can drag our feet but making the effort proves its worth.

This particular morning was especially misty but it threw a surreal atmosphere on the landscape. Just wish I had been higher up.

One from the blistering heat of last Summer from my trusted balcony. As we're all now shivering, I wanted to bring back some warmth and sunshine to the scheme of things. Had such a wonderful Summer with the plants and flowers in the pots and got some great shots. As for the under shots which I like so much, I think they look so much more in tune with the moment, than the orthodox frontal captures, nothing wrong with that of course but this angle I think looks more alive.

Hope everyone is well, I want everyone to know I appreciate hugely all the faves, comments and the such like and so as always, thank you! :)

As a child I recall seeing a painting of a wheatfield painted just before a storm. The leaden sky hung in the background a perfect colour contrast to the colour of the ripened grain. That image rather stuck with me and the composition (half and half) has always appealed - you will see a fair amount of it in my photostream. Van Gogh's wheatfield with crows is another (for me) riveting image. Perhaps I should go in search of crows this summer? I liked the telegraph pole in this one... a contrast to the natural world.

This all started with an old photo of mine from July of 2017. Trying to recall what all editing I may have done. Can say for sure used the inverse effect and what they now call edge 5. Just now the first thing I did was use normal oil painting effect at 80%. Then used Adobe photoshop express duotone effect DU5. After that decorated with Adobe photoshop express floral sticker FL10 (although we can see this is technically a leaf rather than a flower.) Finished with a fine blue border.

Thank you, my dear friends, for all your comments and faves!

I recall I got a letter on a recall, but now I do not recall if I took it in for the recall installation?

~ You may not recall the moment that you asked me in

But your invitation was clear

You'll pretend you've never met me but it's far to late

Now I'm here...

I'm the face you hoped you'd never see

But always knew you would

I'm the one thing you knew you shouldn't do

But did because you could

I'm the evil in your bloodstream

I'm the rash upon your skin

And you made a big mistake all right

The day you let me in

And you can fly to the other side of the world

You know you'll only find

I've reserved the seat behind you

We can talk about old times

Cause I'm the one who knows what scares you

I'm the who loves you best

I'm the thirteenth at the table

I'm the uninvited guest ~
