Theology as the language of faith partakes of historical analysis and critical reason, as do the other-ologies. But it is older. And it has always pushed beyond academic boundaries into the language of communities of faith and into the enquiries of individuals alienated from any church, temple, synagogue, or mosque.

This is the original office of the Hollywoodland Realty Company (as it looks today) which is the company who built the Hollywoodland sign in 1923 - 97 years ago. Then, in 1927, when they were going to tear it down, the city of Hollywood said, “Please don't tear it down, let us have it." So, the realty Company gave the city the sign and they tore off the "land" part of the sign, so it only said Hollywood and that's how the Hollywood sign was born. The Hollywoodland Realty Co. is still operating in the same office, today.

I was out shooting a test roll of film in my "new" Olympus XA2, and looking for interesting things around town to photograph. I came across this awesome mural on the side of this realty office and I knew I had to get a picture of it! It depicts a view of the valley, with happy families driving around town in their cars with advertisements for local businesses, and of course the famous Arrowhead landmark on the San Bernardino Mountains.

One thing I've really noticed while taking pictures is that there is a LOT of undiscovered talent in San Bernardino. I've come across so many interesting paintings like this, which you would never see until you really start to spend more time driving and walking around town and paying more attention to less traveled side streets. This is more than just advertisement...someone (or maybe a group of people) spent a lot of time with this and to me, it really shows a lot of artistic talent.

So far, my Olympus XA2 seems to be a really cool little camera. The pictures are sharp, with good color and contrast. It does have a tendency to underexpose a little, but that might be because it needs a new battery.

So HK realty even 'glows' in the dark...
