The Contaflex 35mm twin-lens reflex of 1935, one of the most expensive cameras of its day and the first camera to include a built-in photo-electric light-meter - the cell is behind the flip-up name-plate. It briefly preceded the first 35mm SLR, the Exakta (1936). Interchangeable taking lenses were available ranging from 35mm (with a special finder) through the 85mm and 135mm focal lengths (there were markings on the ground glass to show the appropriate crop). I believe I saw a wide-angle and a tele adapter, both of which sported a viewing and a taking lens, many years ago at a Vienna camera dealer's. Behind the camera we see the original repair manual.

Las Caballerizas Reales de Córdoba fueron construidas en 1570 por encargo de Felipe II a Diego López de Haro y Sotomayor, Caballerizo Mayor del Rey, con objeto de criar y seleccionar caballos de pura raza española, dando origen a la raza de caballo andaluz. En el siglo XVIII se destruyeron por un incendio, pero el monarca Carlos III ordenó su reconstrucción. Entre sus dependencias, que se sitúan alrededor del patio central, destaca la cuadra principal que está conformada por tres naves cubiertas con bóvedas de arista que se apoyan en columnas de piedra arenisca. En el picadero se presentan espectáculos ecuestres.

I spotted this Mallard on one of the ponds at Jackman Wetlands. Is it real or is it a decoy? They do Retriever training at the park and this may be one of their devices. Or is it some poor duck stuck in mesh from the traps used by the CWHC to trap birds for checking for avian flu?

Pequeño pájaro de cola roja y con diseño elegante y vistoso en los machos. Se encuentra ampliamente distribuido por latitudes templadas y boreales de Europa, y más localizado en el sur. En España ocupa áreas de sierra y media montaña de la cornisa cantábrica, el Sistema Ibérico, el oeste del Sistema Central, Sierra Morena occidental y, puntualmente, otras sierras interiores. Estrictamente forestal, está ligado a bosques maduros de frondosas y coníferas, con presencia de arbolado viejo y claros dispersos.

Identificación
Túrdido de pequeño tamaño, con característica y llamativa cola rojiza. El macho luce un llamativo y colorido diseño: pecho naranja rojizo, garganta negra, partes superiores grises y frente blanca. La hembra y los jóvenes presentan las partes inferiores de tonos ante grisáceos, más claras que en el colirrojo tizón. Posado, este pájaro tiene costumbre de agitar insistentemente la cola. Exhibe un vuelo ágil y ligeramente ondulado.
Canto
Es dulce, melancólico y suave, parecido al del colirrojo tizón. Consta de dos partes, una primera corta y ascendente, seguida de otra más larga, que alterna trinos suaves con algunas imitaciones.

Curiosidades : Ha sufrido un fuerte declive poblacional en Europa en los últimos decenios, relacionado con las adversas condiciones ambientales en las áreas de
invernada africanas, principalmente las sequías de los años setenta a noventa. La población ibérica parece estar recuperándose en la última década, aunque puede verse afectada localmente por la alteración de los medios forestales como consecuencia del empleo abusivo de plaguicidas, la eliminación del arbolado viejo, las repoblaciones con especies exóticas, etc. Se considerada “Vulnerable” en el Libro Rojo de las aves de España (2004) y aparece como “De interés especial” en el Catálogo Nacional de Especies Amenazadas.
