Winter
Afternoon
Kind of one of those days that going outside feels like more work than it needs to be...grey,, gloomy......nah, I have a good book to read and it feels like a perfect time to curl up on the couch and do just that.

"Through the waters of beauty and grace. We will one day dock at the same port, and give rest to our weary heads" (The Umbrellas: Ships)
(This is one of my all time favourite songs, and immediately thought of it upon painting)
Snow Day Today. The whole country pretty much stopped and had a big hissy fit because noone could get anywhere or do anything (IN LONDON). I had a reading day so it didn't much matter to me. I'm in tomorrow though. I also have plans for after University so I hope the weather isn't too bad. I'll be taking my camera, maybe you will see what I got up to. Oh the mystery. The weather was good for Rosie, who has Aaron visiting her from NC, I was happy for her having a short day so they could be together :]
utdesertduo commented on my wallpaper. It's textured, and painted white so it's pretty good for light painting upon. This is an oldie but goodie. I keep procrastinating, saying I'll paint new shapes or get new material to post up here.. I'm totally aware I need to do this, I need a plan of action, and to get my ass into gear.
I'm glad I have three comments within five minutes of posting.
Thanks go to snowbuddy_, utdesertduo and of course, DavidStGr
P.S: I'm still hanging on in Explore.

Students, teachers, and several guests participated in One Nation Reading Together Day. The students learned about the importance of reading, and got to listen to several stories read out loud by teachers and volunteers. The reading day was sponsored by Scholastic/India Inc. Scholastic has generously donated 1,000 books to Communities Rising to jump start the construction of our library!

Clearing The Bar
Before a campaign event at the University of Montana in Missoula, Obama spied staffers doing chin-ups. He walked over, asked how many they were doing - two each - asked, "That's all?" then proceeded to do three himself before walking on.
I've been watching all day. I walked in at 1202 Eastern Time, missing the new President officially by two minutes. I got in to see the swearing-in ceremony.
As I've sad numerous times before, I've never been excited by politics before.
Now I'm excited
So excited that I'm gonna read his book. My Mum is gonna get it from my Grandma tomorrow. I started to read the book I have on The American Presidency, but I didn't get so far. I should continue with that first.
I'm at University from 10-12 tomorrow, and have Friday as my Reading Day. I'll be reading, but it might not necesarily be reading about Nursing..
Barack Obama 2009 Inauguration and Address
"It has not been a path for the faint-hearted - for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only pelasure of rishes and fame.
Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things - some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labour, who have carried us up the long, rugged paths towards prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few wordly possessions and travelled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and ploughed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.
Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction."
"It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the leeves break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate"
"A man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaraunt can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath"

"All about about chemistry, won't you show me everything you've learned. I'll memorise everything you do to me, so I can teach it when it comes my turn" (Semisonic: Chemistry)
I was watching 40 Days and 40 Nights last night. Or rather, it was just a noise so I could get to sleep. I had my sleep timer on to save energy President Obama. I was thinking of the enviroment. I hear he closed down Guantanamo Bay today, or he is going to do so. I think this is good, noone actually knows what the hell was going on there, apart from the people who were working there or were held there for one reason or another. I'm quite sure some of those individuals have a guilty conscience; either for lying, or committing crimes that are pretty barbaric in my eyes.
I've been reading. "The Great Depression and The New Deal" by Eric Rauchway. Very interesting book. I was shocked to read that almost 25% of the American workforce in 1932 were unemployed. People just bought, bought, loaned and loaned until, BOOM. Noone could afford anything anymore. I love how cars were so cheap pre-depression. Everyone started off so wealthy, people bought radios and then, everything just turned black.
I'm excited for the weekend. Two of my Uni Friends are coming to stay over at mine and there are a lot of people coming out to town with us ! I just have to find an outfit.. The downside is I have to clean on Saturday. Tomorrow is my Reading Day so maybe I'll do it then. Next week I'm in for two hours the whole week, and Thursday I'm going out to Manchester centre to celebrate a Friend's Birthday. I'm staying in student digs for the night ! So if anyone is in Manchester Thursday, we're off to Pure.
