Spectators in the balcony react to a goring. Ticket prices to the gallery vary between 15,000 to 25,000 pesos ($5 to $9 dollars), which is a lot of money for the average resident of this area of Colombia. By contrast, the price for watching from the ground level through the slats of the ring's infrastructure varies from 1,500 to 2,000 pesos, a tenth of the price of the gallery.
Spectators tend to be the local land-holding elite, who, in this area of the country, is closely associated with the right-wing paramilitary movement (the United Peasant Self-Defence Forces of Colombia, or AUC) run by Carlos Castaño and Salvatore Mancuso, who have their base camp in the Nido de Paramillo mountains in Córdoba. The AUC is responsible for the murder and forced displacement of thousands of Colombians, and the two leaders are wanted by the US Justice Department as major drug traffickers. The AUC exercises total control in the state of Córdoba, and has systematically eliminated any potential opposition and hundreds of small-time criminals through assassination, thus gaining for themselves the role as uncontested local authority. The growth of the Corralejas in the last two years, with events being held in Santa Marta, MedellÃn and other places for the first time, coincides with the consolidation of paramilitary rule over large areas of northern and central Colombia.

This year, the NEoN Digital Arts Festival is very pleased to organise an expanded 3-day symposium entitled, Re@ct: Social Change Art Technology NEoN Re@ct will involve over 30 international speakers over three days addressing a diversity of issues and practices engaging activist digital art.
Many artists involved in digital arts have historically been prompted to react and respond to local, national, global, social and political crises (i.e. around issues of environmentalism, gender equality, exploitation, colonialism, militarism, emancipation). Re@ct will be a platform to critically examine the relevance and impact of past and present practices, theories and strategies – to engage an uncertain future through an exploration of the creative potential of digital art.

Crows fans react with surprise and joy as Ben Rutten's last kick in the AFL results in the last goal of his last game. I've seen the Adelaide Oval crowd more excited than that, but never as happy as that. It was a special moment.
Adelaide and St. Kilda meet on the last day of the home-and-away season. As Richmond had defeated Sydney the previous day to secure eighth spot, the Crows could not hope to win their way into the finals. St. Kilda was all but locked in for the wooden spoon, their first since 2000.
The match was a dead rubber, but it was significant in several other ways. It was Rory Sloane's 100th game, as well as the farewell for two veterans: Ben Rutten of Adelaide, and Lenny Hayes of St. Kilda. Both bowed out in style: although a career defender, Ben Rutten's last kick in the AFL resulted in a goal, as his first three kicks had back in 2003. Lenny Hayes, meanwhile, broke the all-time AFL record for most tackles laid. This would also turn out to be Brenton Sanderson's last game as coach of Adelaide

Last week we gave two teams of Theatremakers from the Open Exchange Network the opportunity to create a piece of work at the Exchange. It’s a chance for them to explore and develop the way they make work. Using the illustrated children’s book THE RED TREE by Shaun Tan as inspiration, the focus of this REACT is to create an age specific piece for children aged 10 and under. #RXREACT

there were no pictures of the dance party itself. two rooms. mostly reggaeton and hip hop... latin later. the human painting materialized in my room (formerly the lounge). i swear, it was a normally raunchy dance party before this artistic, expressive, (hippie) activity emerged. this was the crew that stayed... and loved it. refreshing.
