A coworker and friend, a former Marine and my senior took me hiking (whoof) to this gorgeous location merely 20 minutes from my home.

The Golden Poppy is the state flower for California. Right now you can find it everywhere but this was awe-inspiring. This whole area was wiped out in a firestorm. What a comeback. :)

Note: I need to re-process this shot. I had troubles with the WB shooting in the dark areas of the gorge (Auto didn't work at all) and it still looks off. Maybe or hopefully my processing skills got a bit better and I can do a better job now.
