I rather like this one, we were so luck to have some fantastic light River Gwash Ospreys, with the season coming to an end we need to make the most of these amazing birds
Today was rather different with the low cloud and not so bright sorry this view two days in a row but l feel it worth showing the clouds change the view daily!!
This rather fierce creature was acting as a sort of spiritual guardian , at a pavilion in the Forbidden City , Beijing. With such sharp fangs & claws ,I`m sure he must have scared away any evil spirits .

I seem to be taking rather a long time to leave Christmas in the past this year but it was still on my mind when thinking about the seasonal aspect so
decided that this photo of the lights taken in a local street sums it up.
Happy New Year to everyone in the group, thank you so much for the patience and support shown to me throughout 2024. I didn't meet all the challenges but I did have fun trying and look forward to many more in 2025.
A rather heated argument at the feeder.
Sigma 150-500 f5-6.3 lens on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Cropped in Lightroom Classic and resized for Flickr.
Thank you for visiting my little space here on Flickr.
Rather moody.
Sorry for the lack of photos, my time has been occupied elsewhere lately! Soon I hope! Happy Summer everyone :)
Thunbergia battiscombei is a weak-stemmed, perennial shrub rather than a climbing vine. To grow upright, it must be tied to a support or have taller plants to lean on for support. Blue Glory has bright green heart-shaped leaves, fuzzy greenish-white buds, and dark blue to purple trumpet-shaped flowers.

Or rather it used to be the mighty Aller Junction.
There were great vantage points all around it and that hideous wall didn't exist. Nowadays you really have to work hard to find a shot.
This is my effort to show a different and current view of Aller Junction as 37521 takes the Paignton branch with the 1Z30 1400 Camborne to Kingswear with 37667 on the rear.
This was another leg of the private LSL railtour of Devon and Cornwall.
As seen in Issue 325 of Rail Express.
We were rather too early to take coffee in the pretty little Atherton Tableland town of Yungaburra. All of the shops and centre of town were in this mould. A lovely town to visit.
Notice the COVID QR check in on the door. As Queensland tourist spots open up over the next two months, people in towns like this will need to ensure they are ready for an influx of lockdown weary southerners, some bearing gifts we do not want. Being vaccinated, continuing to check in and also wearing masks where social, distancing is not possible will be very important.
This rather noisy bird was busy hiding in the Holly Berry tree and I had quite a time getting a shot. This was the best one. I guess he did not want to be disturbed while he was nibbling on the red berries.
Rather than leave the roadside edge of his field of barley as grass, the farmer has sown a ten foot wide strip of wildflowers (Pictorial Mix) down the entire edge of his crop. This provides nectar and pollen for a host of insects. Barlow, Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District.
Went for a rather dark treatment for this shot. Just trying something different :) However if you think it is too dark, pls do let me know. I think I have changed the way I used to look at colours... just not sure how good or bad it is now

This rather small cormorant is fairly common along rocky coasts where it feeds mainly in inshore waters. Nests colonially on cliffs and other steep surfaces, sometimes on jetties.

Rather rabbit in the thick of things - My first rabbit sighting in the okanagan (actually it was my wife who spotted him - the keeper of the bear spray) He ducked back into the thicket after i got off my bike - then decided to grant me a few more shots. I'm going to guess a cottontail until someone corrects me.
……. I rather liked the rich fresh leaves juxtaposed with the seasonally spent leaves of Autumn. A phone shot taken whilst doing my iPhoneaday 365 last year. Alan:-)

Seemingly the collective noun for a group of flamingos is a 'Flamboyance'. This group like my other recent photographs of Greater Flamingos was taken at the coastal lagoons just north of Korba on the Cap Bon Peninsular in Tunisia.
I feel that a they look so unhurried, calm and stately.
Some rather epic sunset colours, don`t get this sort of sunset very often, just to be out at the right time, The River Adur at Shoreham By Sea in Sussex.
No, I'm not referring to me, and my very well-known sunny disposition...rather, one of my favorite migration birds, this sweet, adorable Prothonotary Warbler, hunting for insects yesterday in Janice's Bottle Brush Bush! Their sunny yellow glow always makes me smile! I hope this little series makes you smile, too!
There were at least two Prothonotary Warblers there! This one's head features the common brownish berry stain from previous meals enjoyed before leaving the tropics!
A rather damaged looking Speckled wood butterfly.
The speckled wood (Pararge aegeria) prefers to live in damp, dark woodlands. Unlike other butterflies, it's more active in shadier habitats rather than sunny ones. Males often fight over a perch, spiraling up to the treetops until they determine a winner. These perches are where the males find passing females.
The Fish Shop in Gaios was rather popular with the local cats, who queued patiently for the chance of a few small fish!
Another couple of shots of the queuing cats in the comment below.
Looking rather tired after many years of preservation use General Motors Electro-Motive Division F7A number 274 which dates back to October 1950 is seen passing through typical misty Oregon coastal scenery with a Friday morning 10.00 Garibaldi departure for Rockaway Beach.
This locomotive has seen service as Great Northern Railroad 274, Burlington Northern Railroad 610, Seattle & North Coast Railroad 101, a Lewis & Clark Railroad unit, Doyle McCormack/Daylight Locomotives and Machine Works Incorporated 274, and now as Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad 274. I have seen photographs of this locomotive on this line ten years ago when it positively sparkled.
Incidentally there was one other rail Phottor at the same location and he was blowing his top as in his mind this was supposed to be a steam hauled service. He had travelled many hours for his shot.
Rather than do their own fishing, Bald Eagles often go after other creatures’ catches. A Bald Eagle will harass a hunting Osprey until the smaller raptor drops its prey in midair, where the eagle swoops it up.
Rather neglected old boat on the Union Canal - spring evening as the sun was setting, creating a lovely, golden light and making some lovely reflections on the water
This rather extraordinary parish church, set on a spacious green hill above the River Severn, stands in stark contrast to Shrewsbury's medieval streets and mainly Tudor townscape.
Dating from 1790-92, it is a classical church, and is built from a pale stone that sets it quite apart from the red sandstone and half-timbering that are the usual materials of Shropshire. What is more, it is a classical church with a difference: the nave is completely round.
Opinions differ as to how successful a building this is. The tower, from some angles, looks almost unrelated to the rest of the church, being separated from it by a rounded antechamber. But the interior is light, bright and uncluttered. Slender white columns (made of local cast iron) support a gallery that sweeps right round the church.
In the churchyard is the grave of Ebenezer Scrooge
A rather bleak looking scene on the limestone pavement of Keld Head Scar, looking south over Lonsdale. The River Twiss winding its way down to the waterfalls of Ingleton down in the valley on the left.
These two hardy trees caught my eye and I thought they were worth capturing. It must be quite a struggle just existing up here and it had me wondering how old they were! It is amazing how they manage to survive on this harsh Karst landscape, exposed to the elements and prevailing westerly winds.
I had ended up here at the end of the shortish winters Dales day out with fellow Flickr pal John Bleakley. We scouted around this escarpment before returning to the mighty "Cheese Press Stones", to capture them in the late light.
The rather melancholically-named settlement at the far end of Longsleddale. However, the river in the dale makes up for it by being called the River Sprint...a sort of yin and yang naming.
I walked over from Kentmere to check out if it was a possible bike route, which it is, apart from an impossibly steep and rocky bit just before Sadgill, which would defeat me in either direction.
A rather windy day at Battery Park Gourock, where this lone tree is fighting a loosing battle to keep most of it's leaves from departing. The Rainbow isn't helping much by leaning on it though!!
This rather random build of brick, flint and chalk is apart of an old fisherman's store on Thornham salt marsh, Norfolk
Rather than sit and wait for the Fast 5 cheetahs to catch their dinner, we left for camp and were rewarded with this sighting of Saba. She sat surveying her domain, then got up and walked slowly right toward us. Saba is a female leopard, not often sighted.

rather long exposure somewhere between 4 and 6 mins, however not being a fastidious note taker between will have to do ;-)

Better viewed large and thank you for the favourites. :)
And, anyway, every image only halfway represents reality, whereas the other half is rather, more or less, fulfilling our imagination :-)

A rather variable species but this is a lovely "textbook" one, found by Rockwolf. In contrast to the last upload, this is Britain's largest ladybird species, at 8 or 9mm long.
Attingham Park, Shropshire.
These rather odd-looking birds are common across large sections of Southern and Central Africa. splitting up into breading pairs during the breeding season.
Although they can fly for short distances, they are mainly terrestrial and will run, rather than fly when startled.
They move in flocks of up to 40 birds during the non-breeding season,
This rather elaborately carved and painted bench has sat outside an antique store in Bernalillo for as long as I can
remember. Perhaps some day someone will buy and restore it just a little and make it a feature in their home or garden.
Trumpeter swans (Cygnus buccinator) are incredibly rare in California, or rather, they look so similar to the numerous tundra swans that they're hardly ever identified by birders. I took this picture because someone I was meeting was late, and haha, I wanted to see if any of the swans in the rice paddy between Live Oak and Pennington were trumpeters. I was frankly shocked when I looked closely at the pictures a month later, and found that one actually was!
Because yes, the adult on the left is. Look at the large straight beak, the pink mouth line, and especially, the way the black beak extends into the black of the eye in a broad stripe.
Jan 29, 2018, outside Pennington, California.
I have burned bridges a time or two, I would rather walk away head held high than to prolong anything that isn't serving me. Spent a lot of time learning self care and boundaries, if those boundaries get crossed, into the pile of discards you go. My peace is worth more than your presence. Sorry not sorry...

Bite my tongue, bide my time
Wearing a warning sign
Wait 'til the world is mine
Visions I vandalize
Cold in my kingdom size
Fell for these ocean eyes
You should see me in a crown
I'm gonna run this nothing town
Watch me make 'em bow

Count my cards, watch them fall
Blood on a marble wall
I like the way they all
Scream
Tell me which one is worse
Living or dying first
Sleeping inside a hearse
I don't dream
You say
Come over baby
I think you're pretty
I'm okay
I'm not your baby
If you think I'm pretty
You should see me in a crown
