17 years ago. Full, unedited version. You can see a full copy of this in the December, 7, 1996 front page Entertainment Section issue of The Vancouver Sun with my interviewer being Katherine Monk in the Vancouver Public Library in Downtown Vancouver. Please do take the time to visit my tribute to Bob @ djodcharity.wordpress.com . I'm guessing most of you know who he is, but if you don't, my simple tribute will teach you everything you need to know about him and what I'm doing with his guitar he gave to me.

Custard Pies im Rare Guitar in Münster

We’re here visiting the X Spot. To say happy birthday to X & his wifemate I have tried to copy Bernard’s rare guitar emporium (original in comments). I just don’t have the beard for it!!!

1955 Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar owned by Paul Kossoff of the band Free. It is thought that Eric Clapton had this guitar for a bit as it came from his former manager.

World's greatest gathering of Messenger guitars?

Here are a couple of really nice Epiphone semi-acoustic guitars I saw today in 'Vintage & Rare Guitars', in Denmark Street, in the 'West End' of London.

On the left is a 1962 'Al Caiola' Model (a prototype, no less! £5000+!!);

and another model that I can't actually recall the name of (and I can't read the label, as the picture is not so good!)!? Could be a 'Sheraton'?

Ahhh...the ‘57 Gold Top. After five years, this is the first production Gibson Les Paul Standard to feature the humbucking pickup and the Tune-o-matic bridge, both of which have been staples on electric guitars for more than 50 years. In another year, the Standard would get its cherry sunburst top and be on its way to ‘Burst legend. All of which makes this an important guitar in the history of the Les Paul and Gibson. But this one is also a fantastic player that’s still a comfortable, usable instrument (if you’re into that particular daredevilism).

It’s also extremely rare. According to the book "Gibson Shipment Totals 1937-1979", there were 598 Les Paul Goldtops shipped from Kalamazoo in 1957, some with Bigsby vibratos. Of course, this means there were less than 598 with the coveted Tune-o-matic bridge. Add to it the number of '57s that met untimely deaths in fires or onstage antics, and we have one very rare guitar on our hands that's also great to play. Beyond that, there’s not much else to say—this is a breathtaking piece of Gibson and rock n’ roll history.

Really rare guitar- An original STIII "Outlaw" (also known as the "Black Hole" in old BC Rich catalogs). Not to be confused with another guitar BC Rich later made called "The Outlaw", this was a rare factory-made option on the original STIII series of the late 1980s. The holes were drilled at the factory and no matter what color guitar you ordered the holes themselves were always painted black. Supposedly only about 30 or so of this original model were made by the BC Rich factory.

Great rare guitar. This is what Les Paul himself uses every Monday night at the Irridium.

This is a very rare guitar from 70's. Greco created this guitar by the joint develpment with Takami Asano, guitar player of Godiego, a Japanese rock band in mid 70's through 80's.

I bought this guitar in 1979 when it was first marketed. Today it is impossible to find GOIII guitars with this excellent condition.

Greco also created GOIII 1300 and GOIII 1800 at that time. Only GOIII 1500 had the ivy inlay on the finger board, which differentiates itself from others.

*INFORMATION OF THIS INDIVIDUAL GUITAR.

Serial number 7198412.

Front and rear pickups were replaced by ESP LH-200 in the early 80's. The original pickups have been lost. The center pickup is kept unchanged.

*GENRAL INFORMATION OF GOIII 1500

Body : Maple, arch top

1 master volume knob

3 volume knobs

3 tone knobs

Six-by rotary switch for combination of pickups

Pickups: (Front) PU-3D (humbucker), (Center) PU-250 (single coil), (Rear) PU-3D (humbucker)

TS vibrato unit

Neck: Maple and walnut 7P

Speedway neck

Ebony finger board

Ivy inlay

Tuner: MH904 (Ibanez)

The neck length of this guitar is actually in a kind of no-man's land between the two guitars it is based on- it is obviously longer than the 325's 3/4 scale neck yet I believe actually shorter than a 350's neck measurement. It has 24 frets though.

I bought this guitar cheaply on ebay- it had an impossible playing action on it which needed fixing and the description sounded like it had spent time in someone's shed- something which seemed quite likely once saw it for real!

I got very lucky because I lost out on bidding first time around, won another guitar, never received that one, then this reappeared about two weeks later when the buyer didn't pay and I knew destiny was meant to be! So I got onto the bloke and he agreed to finish it early for me.

Getting an old, tatty/broken one was really the only way I was ever going to be able to afford even a copy of a rickenbacker guitar. It has rusted screws everywhere and there were some chips in the paintwork, as well as the dodgy action. So I then found a great repair bloke who was able to fix the action for me and was also willing to newly re-string it to left-handed and chang the strap bolt to the other side for me. I expected the cost of all this to be much higher than he charged, so the unexpected money I saved from this was spent on a brand new little vox pathfinder 10 amp, which I'm well chuffed about too! As a result, I have a rare guitar that is brilliant to play and has cost me under £150, way less than most ricky copies can be got for.

The fact it is now strung left-handed, as well as the fact I 'rescued' it from anymore rusting and damp, makes it a tiny little bit more 'mine' and personal, which is great! I love it dearly!

Newcastle Academy. Oh my Sweet Valentine. So Aunty Irene and Uncle

Neville graciously sent 5 red roses to our dressing room. Oh no, not

like us 5 to shirk such a sweet valentine’s blessing. We sported

them as we weaved our way through a love-tapestry of a gig for our

northern friends and family.

What a sacrifice for those loved-up couples in the audience to forgo

their valentine’s dinner.

Luckily the Grace boys were romantic fodder enough:

As an aperitif, JP made love to the crowd.

And then for the starter Sammy swooned the sexy sirens with his

seriously seductive synth-swagger.

For the main hearty meat of this musical meal look no further than

James – he went weak at the knees as his medium-rare guitar took on

a gorgeous life of its own.

For pudding – blueberry pie: Ben beggared belief with his bee-you-

tiful bass boom blooming from below his buxom blouse.

And as for coffee, well Chris spanked the drums.

Good photo with some the rare guitars of Eddie's. I love the reflectors he put on the back of Frankenstein.

60's Custom Set - The most defintive classic Tele* tone was made by the 1960's white-edgebound Custom Tele with single coils. These AVn-60 series pickups give you a Caricature sound of those very rare guitars that you can have for your Tele too. The 60's Custom set is bright but never thin, has improved focus, twang, dynamics and high end chime. Great for chickin pickin country lead or any other classic Tele style. The middle position of the switch sounds better than with original Telecaster pickups.

Imagine the very best Telecaster tone that you can remember; this set has more body & girth which means they never sound thin or excessively bright. The sound has very nice complex Alnico midrange detail.... and has Zero-Hum and zero microphonic whistle. Other features players will be delighted with is the superb dynamic range and string output balance.

Broadcaster Set - Only the most priveleged players have heard genuine original Broadcaster** pickups of the early 1950's. Now you can be priveleged too, Kinman AVn-48 series pickups have thick and focused tone with lots of drive. The uniquely complex Alnico midrange makes for superb definition, a sound with 'attitude' and plenty of output that projects effortlessly through the rest of the band without having to be too loud.

Brad Paisleys favorite pickups and you will feel confidently in charge of the guitar sounds too.

This set has prominent high end shimmer and bigger twang than the 60's Custom set. The excellent dynamic range will delight Tele players who want the distinctive punch of those rare early Broadcasters**.

"No Gain" protests the lies and corruption of the Bush administration. This is my most sincere, most heartfelt song (and I must say that I finally have some satisfaction now that the Bush regime is out of action.) It's a tribute to Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and features me cutting loose with a rare guitar break on my Strat. It can also be found on the “Living With War Today” website. I'm grateful to Neil for setting up this site of protest songs and I'm honoured to be included on it with so many other artists. I want to thank everyone for their generous support.

Here are the lyrics:

There’s a black spot over Washington

And a stench that rises up in the hot, hot sun

The river’s rising and it’s hard to swim

Against the tide of wealth with sight so dim

But there’s one voice in the crowd

Who cries his mind and yells so loud

It’s a no gain

Take the peace train

[chorus:]

We won’t get no satisfaction

‘Til the Bush regime is out of action

It’s a no brain

Take the peace train

Some people got on the wrong track

Voted him in power twice, now they can’t turn back

The opposition is standing clear and strong

And now all his rights have turned into wrongs

We won’t get no satisfaction

‘Til the Bush regime is out of action

He’s a weasel fox

Who hides the clocks

I hope he’ll pay for the lives he’s taken

In a jail cell one day he’ll awaken

It’s a no brain

Ride the peace train

[Repeat chorus three times]

Gibson Les Paul Junior, it was my fathers very first guitar. It has been sold and swapped amongst his friends for decades until he finally got it back in very poor shape with about ten coats of different paint hand painted on it over the years. He handed it down to me and I customised it during the restore. It come up a real treat with some TLC!.......

Hand carved Paisley design by a retired old timber craftsman (he did it for a bottle of Scotch!)

Onyx Green Stain with Sunburst by one of my oldest and dear friend Pete! (he's a french polisher and imported the stain from North America, he also emptied all the lacquer guns on it everyday at closing time in his factory for about two weeks! it looks like its embeded in glass!)

Hand cut Mother of Pearl scratchplate and matching headstock bell (I imported the plate from Japan through jacksons rare guitars in sydney)

Ibanez V7/V8 pickups wired in Fender Strat configuration (there the only ones I could get my hands on until I decide what to put in! thinking some Earthbranes by Skatterbrane should do this beauty just right! :)
