Thanks to everyone for your visiting, favs & comments :).

When I was a kid I went to Baptist church and I will never forget this story about a kid who was left behind during the rapture. He came home and brownies were burning in the oven and his mom's dress lay empty on the kitchen floor. I was procrastinating cleaning up today and decided that would make for an interesting photo essay.

It was not impossible to build Rapture at the bottom of the sea. It was impossible to build it anywhere else. -- Andrew Ryan

Excuse the heavy background editing, I lack a real blue background large enough for this diorama.

Flaming Gorge Reservoir proved to be one of the most beautiful spots on our journey. The reservoir is fed by the Green River. My fishing friends tell me that this reservoir provides some of the best fishing opportunities anywhere. It is famous for its trophy lake trout. A good number of 30+ pound fish are caught each year. The Utah record went 51 lb 8 oz, and there may yet be a bigger one swimming in the reservoir. Fishing is also very good for rainbows, brown trout, kokanee salmon and the colors were superb.

Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a reservoir in Wyoming and Utah, on the Green River, created by Flaming Gorge Dam. Construction on the dam began in 1958 and was completed in 1964. The reservoir stores 3,788,900 acre feet of water.

The reservoir is mainly in southwest Wyoming and partially in northeastern Utah. The northern tip of the reservoir is just 10 miles southeast of Green River, Wyoming, 14 mi southwest of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and 43 miles north of Vernal, Utah. The lake straddles the Utah-Wyoming border.

I spent a wondrous morning out at Kendall Lake about a month ago, taking in all of nature's beauty while strolling along the lakeside trail. I was literally stopped in my tracks by this vision of the morning rays of sunlight bursting through the fog laden forest alongside the dead calm of the lake. As I stated in an earlier post, I took a ton of shots this beautiful morning. I still have a few more in the bag, so stay tuned.

Okay, so the world didn’t Rapture and the earth didn’t get destroyed, but it was interesting to watch 89yo Harold Camping backtrack his prediction that the world would end on May 21st by saying he was “flabbergasted” that it didn’t happen. Now it appears the magical date is Oct. 21st. But I’m guessing no one will take him seriously anymore. This includes the lovely bride & groom I had the opportunity to photograph this past weekend. They weren’t the least bit concerned that their reception was to start at 6pm exactly at the point of rapture. So much so that I made them this little sign to hold to show them that their love is stronger than the end of the world.

Taken around 6pm on Saturday. Their world was just starting.
