In the Pellenz, an agricultural landscape in the Eastern Eifel, the canola (rapeseed) fields are blooming again. On Monday of this week I stopped by again to take some extensive photos.
In der Pellenz, eine landwirtschaftlich geprägte Landschaft in der Osteifel, blühen wieder die Rapsfelder. Am Montag dieser Woche kam ich dort erneut vorbei um ausgiebig zu fotografieren.

In the East Eifel near Mendig, also known as Pellenz, the rapeseed fields are blooming again.

*Wetter Drama über Hunsrückhöhen*
Exactly 2 years ago today in the Hunsrück near Mörsdorf. Extensive rapeseed fields were my photographic goal, as the sky darkened further to the east and a strong thunderstorm fell, while the sun was already shining again at my location, pure weather contrasts.
Heute genau vor 2 Jahren im Hunsrück bei Mörsdorf. Ausgedehnte Rapsfelder waren mein fotografisches Ziel, als sich weiter östlich der Himmel verdunkelte und ein kräftiges Gewitter niederging, während an meinem Standort bereits wieder die Sonne schien, Wetterkontraste pur.
Blühende Rapsfelder nahe Luoping, Provinz Yunnan/Südwest-China.

The county of Luoping in eastern Yunnan is noted for its beautiful scenery in spring, when its fields of canola plants are in full bloom.

In the Pellenz, an agricultural landscape in the Eastern Eifel, the canola (rapeseed) fields are blooming again ... hardly possible as a landscape photographer to drive past there without a photo ;-)

Ein Blick vom 20 Meter hohen Aussichtsturm auf dem Zabelstein (489 m) mit einer wunderbaren Aussicht in das Vorland des Steigerwaldes. Auf dem Gipfel befindet sich die Ruine der ehemaligen Burg Zabelstein, die in dern Bauernkriegen 1525 zerstört wurde. Zur Zeit dominieren in der Landschaft um den Zabelstein die leuchtend gelben Rapsfelder.

A photo from the 20 m high observation tower on the Zabelstein (489 m) with a wonderful view into the foreland of the Steigerwald. On the summit 0f the mountain there is the ruin of the former castle Zabelstein, which was destroyed in the Peasant's Wars in 1525. At the moment are dominating the bright yellow rape fields in the landscape around the Zabelstein.
*Spring in the Hunsrueck*
On the Hunsrueck, a higher-lying landscape in Rhineland-Palatinate/ Germany, the rapeseed fields are now shining from afar, as always a little later than in the lower-lying regions.
Auf dem Hunsrück, eine höher gelegene Landschaft in Rheinland-Pfalz/ Deutschland leuchten jetzt weithin die Rapsfelder, wie immer etwas später als in den tiefer gelegenen Regionen.
Jedes Jahr, wenn die Rapsfelder blühen, suche ich (seit drei jahren) nach einem alleinstehenden Baum in mitten dieses Blütenmeeres. Gestern hatte ich Glück
Every year, when the rape is blooming, I'm searching (the third year now) for a single tree in the middle of the sea of flowers. Yesterday, I was lucky.

Momentan blühen die Rapsfelder herrlich gelb und die Kirsch- und Apfelbäume stehen in voller Blüte. Es ist länger hell und wird langsam wärmer. Frühling....
Spring colors. At the moment, the rape fields are blooming a lovely yellow and the cherry and apple trees are in full bloom. It's light for longer and slowly getting warmer. Spring....
Checked the hard drives once more and came across this picture.
The county of Luoping in eastern Yunnan is noted for its beautiful scenery in spring, when its fields of canola plants are in full bloom.
One of the most worthwhile vantage points is above Ganhe township, overlooking the "Niujie terraced fields".
I published a similar panorama here a long time ago, but without the surroundings. But of course people live there, who else should cultivate these many terraces.
This here is a classical bonus shot. In fact I was along the way to explore and shoot rapeseed fields. Close before sunset I was done with that but I still felt like having a short final walk. Because I was close to that place, I drove here to enjoy this fantastic view. Even if the sky was everything but spectacular, I was amazed by what I saw. Especially by the way, the soft last light of the day was flattering the rocks of mt. Lilienstein and mt. Pfaffenstein. So I couldn’t resist to capture it.
Das hier ist ein klassisches Bonus Foto. Ich war eigentlich unterwegs um Rapsfelder zu sondieren und zu fotografieren. Kurz vor Sonnenuntergang war ich damit fertig und hatte noch Lust auf einen kleinen Spaziergang zum Abschluß. Da ich ganz in der Nähe war, bin ich hier hin gefahren um mir diese wunderschöne Aussicht anzusehen. Auch wenn der Himmel alles andere als spektulär war, so war ich doch begeistert von dem Anblick. Vor allem von der Art wie das weiche letzte Licht des Tages die Felsen von Lilienstein und Pfaffenstein umschmeichelt hat. Da konnte ich nicht widerstehen, es festzuihalten.

In the middle of April this year, the rapeseed fields in the Pellenz bloomed in full splendor, as here at Welling near Mayen / Eastern Eifel.
Mitte April diesen Jahres blühten die Rapsfelder in der Pellenz in voller Pracht, wie hier bei Welling nahe Mayen/Osteifel.

The rape fields are are fully in bloom. Even if there are two minds about the ecological aspect of the massive spread of this monoculture, from the photographical aspect this explosion of colours is an event, every year.
Die Rapsfelder stehen in voller Blüte. Auch wenn man bezüglich der ökologischen Gesichtpunkte der massiven Ausbreitung dieser Monokultur geteilter Meinung sein kann, aus fotografischer Sicht ist diese Explosion der Farben immer wieder ein Ereignis.

Sonne, Frühnebel, tiefe Wolken, gelbe Rapsfelder, alles Zeichen für einen stimmungsvollen Sonnenaufgang.
Sun, early morning fog, low clouds, yellow rape fields, all signs of an atmospheric sunrise.
Seit ein paar Monaten befördern die Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter regelmäßig Kalkzüge zwischen Blankenburg Nord und Salzgitter-Hütte Süd über die Strecke im Vorharz. Diese werden vornehmlich aus den bekannten Kalkkübelwagen der Gattung Slmmps gebildet, meist sind aber auch einige Wagen offener Bauart mit im Zug. Aufgrund der anspruchsvollen Streckentopographie übernimmt ein von der Havelländischen Eisenbahn gemieteter Blue Tiger die Traktion.
Am Morgen des 24.05. rollt V330.1 mit dem Leerzug DGS 95331 nach Blankenburg bei Ilsenburg durch die Rapsfelder.
For a few months now, the Peine-Salzgitter transport company has been regularly hauling lime trains between Blankenburg North and Salzgitter-Hütte South along the line in the foothills of the Harz Mountains. These are mainly made up of the well-known lime bucket wagons of the Slmmps type, but there are usually also some open-type wagons in the train. Due to the demanding track topography, a Blue Tiger hired from Havelländische Eisenbahn takes over the traction.
On the morning of 24 May, V330.1 rolls through the rape fields with the empty train DGS 95331 to Blankenburg near Ilsenburg.
