Part of the 'Plasticity - 100 years of making plastics' Exhibition at London Science Museum. The Fab@Home printer is on display with a video of a torch being printed but the RepRap project is also mentioned. This exhibit opened nearly 3 years ago, since then 3D printing has taken off big time, Fab@Home is now one of several designs out there including the RepRap Darwin, RepRap Mendel, MakerBot, RapMan, ShaperCube and many RepStrap designs.
On the left is model with too much details(300kb stl), on right is just simple openscad alternative(100kb stl). Rapman just cant handle that much data at this speed (40mm/s) :-/
Magically, at the same thrift store where I got that awesome RAPMAN keyboard, I found a mint-condition Sega CD+G karaoke sampler disc. I think I paid a buck for it. Mine went missing a decade or so ago and finally I have it again! Anyone remember the CD+G format? Information Society (naturally) in particular did some pretty fun things with it. Basically, the song lyrics would appear at the bottom of the screen and simple graphics and crude pallete-swapping animations would accompany the music. Totally worth finding all my Sega CD cables and hooking it and its 19 power adaptors up.
