saya tanya ranting. bila patah, masih kah kamu hidup?

saya tanya ranting. suka tak kasut hijau saya?

ranting kata, suka, tapi jangan pijak dia.

saya tanya ranting. kenapa?

Taken by my husband at a restaurant near the Grand Canyon and cropped by me. I couldn't help noticing the colors of the "Restaurant" sign and the newspaper stands. By the way, the food was terrible.

monday 1st february;

well, today you're not going to learn about what i did, you're going to get a rant. a good one (;

anyway, so today i went to college. as you know, my ex bestmate carl and i have fallen out, due to him not being a very good friend i s'pose. beside from that, we were meant to meet at break and he was going to give me my dads USB stick back (which i put music on for carl ages ago) and i was going to give him his shirt. i got a text from him at around 10am, saying he was going to leave my USB on show, outside my classroom, that he hates me and has done for ages and threatening to tell joe things which joe already knows...

with this, (which was quite funny) anna found my USB stick and gave it me later. carl said he didn't want his shirt back cause he would end up burning it anyway, (which is why soon on flickr, you're all going to get a video of me and joe burning it ourselves, woo) and yeah. basically it sounded like his slag of a girlfriend had told him to write it cause the last time i spoke to carl, he was up my arse etc (:

HAPPY TIMES ARE HERE though.

and i'm having nothing to do with any of them. what goes around comes around and when he comes crawling back to me, after she possibly cheats on him for the second time i think... i will just laugh in his face. life is fucking sweet :D

In The Days Of Genghis Khan

Back in human history in the days of Genghis Khan

To be a hero in war was to prove yourself a man

But in the Human World in some ways things have not changed since then

We still have the attitude that war separates the boys from the men.

In this the age of advanced technology some things have not changed at all

So called patriots dead war heroes like to recall

And celebrate like football fans wars fought and won

Whilst the mother is left for to grieve for her dead soldier son.

The winners write the war history as we have been told

And some men do not grow wiser they only grow old

And no fool like an old fool as some like to say

With some at least it does seem a bit that way.

Since Genghis Khan's time in technology giant steps have been made

But for the returned war heroes there's still a street parade

And millions of young men in battles have died

For flag and for Country and National pride.

-------------------------

KRAWANG - BEKASI

We now lie between Krawang and Bekasi,

We cannot cry “Freedom,” and take up arms once more

But who does not hear our roaring

Seeing us marching forward, heart beating hard?

We speak to you in the limpidity of silent night,

When you feel empty and the wall clock is ticking

We die young. Bones remain covered by dust.

Remember, do remember us!

We have tried what we can,

But the task not completed, does not mean anything

We have given out our life,

The work is not completed;

We can't calculate the significance of the loss of 4-5 thousand lives.

We are only bones scattered about,

But you are tehe possessor.

It is you who decide the value of the scattered bones

Do we sacrifice our lives for Independence, Victory, Hope

Or for nothing ?

We don’t know, we can't speak any more

We speak to you in the limpidity of a silend night,

When the chest feels empty, when clocks is ticking.

Remember, do remember us—

Carry on, carry on our life

Protect Soekarno

Protect Hatta

Protect Sjahrir

We are corpses

Do give us meaning,

Guardian forever in the frontier between reality and dream

Remember, remember us

Who are bones covered with dust,

Thousands of us lying between Krawang-Bekasi

dis·grace n.

1. Loss of honor, respect, or reputation; shame.

2. The condition of being strongly and generally disapproved.

3. One that brings disfavor or discredit.

tr.v. dis·graced, dis·grac·ing, dis·grac·es

1. To bring shame or dishonor on.

2. To deprive of favor or good repute; treat with disfavor.

"I'm a disgrace."

It seems to me that this sentence has gotten wonderfully common throughout the last years, or even decades. No actually, it's been a used sentences since ages, as far as I can guess. People identify with that word so easily as they experience this feeling of not being good enough, bringing shame and misfortune to all those they talk to, to everything they touch. But not only that; how often have I seen people walking down the streets, or sitting in a restaurant, or chatting at a party, and then "it's such a disgrace." And undoubtedly, it was said addressing someone, a person that stood out in an uncommon way, maybe a homeless person, maybe an overly eccentric woman or maybe a spoiled child.

... I despise that. I really do. It's not the word itself, it is the way it is used. It's the perfect word for judgmental and superficial people, people that rather take a look at the surface and decide how they like someone or not, and not try to look into them, to understand them, to tolerate; it's like, as soon as this someone doesn't fit into what is "generally accepted", it's a disgrace because it is destroying the "picture perfect". If I were to use that word .. the people using that word would be the disgrace to me. But that'd make no sense because that would make me a disgrace just as well. Eventually, it's pointless, calling someone "unfitting" or "inappropriate" in such context ... I think it is just the lack of tolerance, acceptance and general understanding that has made this word so popular.

This being said (I simply had to), I'll leave the rest as it is.

I've been getting a lot of messages from Flickr followers asking me to make a tutorial video on how i edit my photo's. I don't get that, wouldn't you feel a sense of achievement if you were able to coin your own style and not cop someone else's? When I first started out with photography I was constantly trying to make my photo's look like someone else's. I would spend money and countless hours just trying to be the same as someone. I look back on it and realize that I cheated myself out of the creativity I knew I had. After I figured out that no one is going to edit my shit for me I learned how to do it myself. So to those of you who say such nice things about my shots, thank you. It means a lot to me and sometimes its crazy that people even take the time to let me know that I inspire them. I appreciate your comments and feedback more than you know. There are hundreds of photographers on here that I look up to and envy for their work and artistic capabilities. And to those of you who ask for direction on how to to edit and achieve the look that i get, my advice would be to dig deep into your creativity, you'll be surprised at what you find and I'm willing to bet the style you come up with and want to keep is far different than mine.

A little tussle to set the record straight...whatever that may be! I watched these two geese as they approached each other and I just knew there was going to be trouble. The one on the left lowered his head and threatened the other, who was having none of it. He asserted his right to be boss by burying his bill in the side of his opponent's neck!

Sunset, Lonely Beach

A beautiful sunset, all alone on a lonely beach,

Soft splashes of the gentle rolling waves,

Like music, one following another..

and the tickling touch of the moving sand, warmly caressed my feet.

This cool distant breeze came whispering,

Embracing, refreshing…

A riot of colours glowed in the cloudless horizon,

Magically flickering on the calm darkening sea.

Like a passionate lover's kiss,

the fiery golden ball gently touched the dark horizon,

And finally seek it's complete rest….and lo!

A thin crescent of the new moon made its spiritual appearance.

God bless be these magical moments…

I humbly seek your mercy.

Semar is told not just ordinary ordinary people, but is an incarnation of Batara Ismaya, brother of Batara Guru who is also the king of the gods. There are indeed several versions of the origins of this Semar figure. But all basically said that this figure is the incarnation of a god. Semar is also a lurah who lives in Karangdempel. Karang means barren. While dempel means the determination of the soul. If we pay attention, how much the philosophy of this Semar figure is very admirable. In Javanese philosophy, Semar is called Badranaya. Derived from the word bebadra which means to build means from the base and naya or nayaka which means messenger. It means carrying the nature of building and carrying out God's commands for human welfare. Whereas literally, Semar means the guide of the meaning of life. Physically, Semar is neither male nor female. He androgynous male, but has breasts like women, which is a symbol of men and women. Semar's right hand upwards, the meaning that as a person Semar wanted to say the symbol of the Supreme Single. His left hand is backward, meaning total surrender and absolute and at the same time a symbol of neutral but sympathetic science.

Semar hair "kuncung" like asian boy. The meaning is to say that the kuncung accounting, namely as a servant's personality. Semar as a servant serves the people unconditionally to carry out religious practices according to Allah's orders. When he arrived, Semar always faced up. The meaning is that in the journey of the human child, its manifestation provides an example to always look up or God, the Most Gracious, and the Merciful of the people.

Semar's other very unique physical characteristic is its round body shape. This is a symbol of the earth or the universe, the dwelling place of humanity and other creatures. Semar also seemed to always smile, but his eyes were swollen. It describes the symbol of joy and sorrow. His face looked old, but his hair was curled like a child. This is a symbol of young and old. He is an incarnation of a god, but lives as a commoner. This is a symbol of superiors and subordinates. For me Semar has many features. Aside from physical features, another feature of Semar is its status. Although his status is only as a servant, but his nobleness is paralleled by King Kresna in the Mahabharata story. According to the original version, the advisor of the Pandavas in the Baratayuda war was Krishna. However, in wayang, Pandavas' advisors became two namely Kresna and Semar

It is often said that Semar's weapon is a fart. It is said that Semar's farting could make a headache for palace courtiers who did not carry out their duties according to applicable regulations. In other words, there are palace officials who take actions against the law that are detrimental to the community.

As the incarnation of a god, Semar is also known to be very wise and wise. Can get along with anyone, both with the upper and lower classes. It is also responsive to changing times. However, if he finds injustice and arbitrary actions, Semar will firmly take preventive, persuasive and repressive actions. It could be said that Semar was willing to risk everything for the message he received from the Almighty.

Semar seems to have never known the word sad. When talking is always spontaneous, but it contains the truth. Every story is always entertaining so that the sad person becomes happy. People who are difficult can laugh.

Semar is a picture of a combination of small people as well as heavenly gods. So, if the governments, symbolized by Semar's warriors, listen to the voice of the little people who are like the voice of God, then it is certain that the country they lead will become a superior and peaceful state.

Reflective Rant Sept 3 2009 IMG_4094

Let me explain the symbology behind this picture:

I know that right now it seems that the whole USA is focusing mainly on the 2008 elections, but I care more about the political situations around the world, particularly Venezuela, since that's where my mom is from and that's where some of my family lives.

Ever since Chavez was elected president, I feel like the whole Venezuelan government/political situation is broken, or ruined like this mug. Sure, you can still use the mug, but it's broken..

I was raised to be seriously Anti-Chavista (against Chavez, Venezuela's president, and his whole administration,) and I know he's always been a horrible president (well, really more like dictator) but I was really shocked when I heard he was assisting FARC. I know FARC is a funny name, but there's nothing funny about them. FARC is a Colombian extremist group who kidnapped hundreds random people and held them hostage for years (most of them still haven't escaped). On top of that, they kidnap children from the Venezuela/Colombia border and turn them into child soldiers. This has been an ongoing problem in both Venezuela and Colombia for years, and Chavez has publicly spoken about how we need to stop them, and supposedly taken some action about it. but it turns out that he was SUPPLYING THEM WITH WEAPONS.

how could ANYONE be supportive of a group that makes children into CHILD SOLDIERS!? how could a LEADER OF A COUNTRY even do that!? and the worst part is, that he LIED to the whole world about it, and he's not even getting impeached or anything! How is it that Bill Clinton gets impeached for having an affair, but Chavez doesn't get impeached for supplying FARC with all the supplies they need to do what Chavez is trying to stop them from doing!?

But of course, Chavez is a known liar, because he promised during his presidential campaign in 1998 that he would change his name if there were still homeless children on the street by the time he was done with his term, and he hasn't done ANYTHING about it, and he's been in power for almost 10 years! (and, by the way, the length of a presidential term in Venezuela is 4 or 5 years (I can't quite remember), but of course, he changed the constitution so that he could be in power for even longer!)

the whole situation pisses me off to no end.

and that is why I took this picture.

**Warning: self-absorbed rant ahead**

here goes...my rant has been floating around my hamster wheel brain for a couple days now. I'll call it "all about me - my 365 rant". I

had several reasons for starting my 365: becoming a better photographer, the journaling aspect, self-awareness/self-perception, overcoming fear and last but not least, having fun.

Today is day 229 and 365 definitely consumes a large part of my life - mainly in

positive ways but it also really provides a lovely breeding ground for a mess of issues i've been dragging around my whole life. And some days, I just don't feel like dealing with them. But every day, there they are.

I'm tired of fighting with my inner critic (who doesn't seem to understand the concept of

constructive criticism) and letting these thoughts rule:

1) I'm not interesting, talented, creative, funny, or attractive

2) Especially compared to all the amazing photographers on flickr

3) Jealous/envious of above-mentioned amazing photographers

4) Feeling bad about feeling jealous, feeling bad about focusing on myself so much when there's a gazillion other horrible things going on in the world

5) Back to feeling like a failure because I feel like I haven't

progressed at all in 229 days

6) So many other people have grown so much in their 365 and I'm still *here*

7) Compare, compare, compare and find myself lacking

A good friend once told me long ago that I obsess over the negative things people say or do about/toward me and brush off anything complimentary. I've come a long way but this project has really made me see how much of that *crap* is still lying around.

But most of the time I'm still having fun with 365, I've met amazing people and one of the many lessons I'm learning is that I need to stop avoiding my crap, quit blaming other people for it and realize I'm the one causing all the problems.

i really don't care what crap i get about this picture, but i just have to say that this is what i think it seems like most people want out of them.

you guys always say that they don't tweet that much together anymore and such.

it just seems like most people EXPECT them to be obessed with eachother. i'm so outraged by that fact and i don't understand why they have to be 100% in love with eachother all of the time.

_ i was/am just trying to set my point.

This is me venting.
