Before you begin reading this you should know that I am a very sensitive person and get upset kind of easily

I don't think I will ever post a picture of mine to Hit/Miss/Maybe, EVER again. The last picture I posted got some really nice helpful or complimentary comments, they were really cool! But then, :"( I got a comment that was an INSULT, it wasn't telling me what I could improve on, it was telling everything wrong with the picture! They could have at least put it in the form of advice and not insulting me :((( the worst part is I thought this person was my friend (most of you think of her as your friend too which is why I'm not saying her name, you can find her comment or Flickr mail me if you want to know who it was) and so the comment hurt even more... I was sitting on the couch last night with the iPad in my lap (on Flickr) with tears in my eyes thinking "was it really THAT BAD?". The comment made me rethink flickr, no it did not make me rethink photography, at all! I love taking pictures! It's FUN for me! I look at every thing as if I'm looking through my camera :) (I cross my eyes a lot to see bokeh xD) it made me rethink ever posting another picture to Flickr :( (this one is an exception because I needed to rant) it probably won't happen but I definitely will not be posting anymore pictures to hit/miss/maybe -_-

Make your own.

The concept sounds good...charge your phone at the airport!

But it's located in baggage claim -- when all you want to do is exit the airport. Charging me for electricity seems more opportunistic than helpful ($3 for 30 minutes which is said to "charge a cell phone up

to twice as fast as a standard wall charger. 30 minutes equals a 50 percent charge.

Plus there is one small bench located next to this, you better hope more than one or two people use it at a time or you'll have to hover and make sure no one walks off with your gear.

The only way I see this being helpful is if you lost your power cord and are low on battery and must get a charge in between. Even then, how connected must you be at all times?

Can you tell I am not the target customer?

Everyone that knows me knows what this means. No eye contact, isolated, knees-to-chest. I'm anxious, nervous, and quite a tad (well, a helluva lot more than a 'tad') depressed. Has it shown any effect in my schoolwork? Nah. Have I missed classes? Nah. Have I missed going to club meetings, community service, or honors symposia? No, I haven't missed any.

Why am I depressed? Well, a lot of reasons, mostly because I have an upper respiratory infection complete with 103 fever and incredibly indescribable sinus pressure. No relief from any of those has been in my recent past, or in my near future besides the round of antibiotics, decongestants, and water. HOWEVER, socially, I am depressed because I am very disappointed that for such a small, selective private university that most students' views and choices for being here are the same, and aren't exactly the wisest. Yes, I have new friends that I can relate to in my majors, clubs... But not about my interests and my views of everything in this wide, wide world. Hell, I got scoffed at in Extreme E.L.I.T.E and the honors council when I thought it'd be good to apply for a $10,000 grant sponsored by Nalgene, Brita, and other companies through a site called filterforgood.com!

Quite frankly, at this college, as well as my last one, have I found people I can relate to, but not completely. Most people my age don't care about recycling, active study, and reading something for (God forbid!) pleasure outside of required textbook reading and BlackBoard assignments. My hobbies? Hell... No one likes a girl that wants to push herself to do things like hike a national park, or rock climb, or Scuba dive all across the planet! According to my former room mate, that makes me an 'animal'. It's not that these people don't think it's, 'cool'... they're just genuinely not interested. At least if I'm speaking with someone that is talking about something I couldn't give to shits about, I am genuinely interested so they feel welcomed and accepted. And don't go around smearing. My confidence is shaken, but not destroyed. My stress combined with my sickness has made my face beyond recognizable.... I need... a break.

*sighs* I guess, for some, college is a social event. For few others, growth and self discovery.

I try.... That's all I can do.

My gosh, what was going to be a normal photo detail turned in to a rant. dammit.

The Elliston Place Soda Shop is the oldest restaurant in the same location in Nashville. It's been serving milk shakes and cheeseburgers since 1939. It's not in any tourist location but definitely make the trip and try an orange freeze.

i wish the police got a lead on who broke my windshield! boo to you whoever you are....

One to Watch Nominees during tha iapi Rant Night in The Sgar Club last Night

I don't usually rant but something has to give.

Usually it starts like this:

"...we do not have a photo budget; however we would obviously credit you and provide links to your work. "

and this:

"Would you give us permission to some on our website at [insert business website here] if we gave you credit and perhaps a link back to your site?"

"You absolutely do not deal in credit? Even with a link direct to your website or flickr account?"

"Would we be able to use some of your **** **** Day photos for the *** website/facebook, with full credit & linkage to you?"

oh - and this is a good one from the band's management - "I am wondering if it i possible to get some higher-res shots that i can put into our archives. Of course i will label the folder with your credit and if we ever needed to use one for other purposes i would be sure to ask for your permission." (ed. lol, are you fucking kidding me?)

also this:

"We stumbled across a photoset from a show at our venue, and were wondering if there are others on your site as well. If so, We would like to ask permission to download those photos for our archives and for possible use on our website or other promotional purposes. You will be credited for any of our photos that we use."

----------------------

I'm not the only one.

Credit pretty much gets me nothing at this stage. The only people who really reads the credits is other photogs.

I've never encountered anyone who came up to me and said "Wow, I saw your name as a credit!" Sure, I shoot a lot of shows for access and documentation but it's my work and it needs to be compensated. I don't expect all my work to be paid work but you get the idea.

In the thread above there's this brilliant YouTube video of Harlan Ellison, the writer. This applies to photogs as well so I'm probably going to give that standard REPLY to bands/artists/editorials now. (in certain cases for the most part)....

mmmk. so i saw this (who ever made this im not mad at you or dont take this offencive)

anyways, i saw this and got upset. you cant compare justin to nick or justin to JB. jb has been in the music businses for almost 4 YEARS. justin not even a year. jb is known world wide, alot of tours, millions of fans and cds sold. and a tv show.

justin- few hits.

and the only reason i dont like justin is because he didnt work. he got his job by usher. hes talented but idk. im only for jonas<333. i like a few songs. but i heard from people that know him hes cocky. and i can see it too.

no justin and jonas wars.

it dosent matter.

true jonas fans stick together

justin fans can be justin fans.

but you cant compare the biggest band of our generation (one of the biggest), legends for us, to some kid that just got started.

NO HATE.

Canning Town

Why are there so many mum's with push chairs the size of cars getting on buses at rush hour?? Maybe it wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that these push chairs take up the standing space of about four commuters and tend to contain children who are large enough to stand up themselves.

The bus is always jam-packed by the time this lady gets on - which makes things even worse as people awkwardly try to get out of her way to make space for her and her enormous pram, when there's no space left on the bus anyway.

I guess the best solution would be for TfL to put more 243 buses on the road instead of reducing them, which they have clearly been doing.

Or maybe I need to calm the fuck down.

~A MINOR RANT~

Another evenings' photography ruined by dogs, just as the fox was inching into range that STUPID fecking alsation comes bounding over barking it's head off. I managed to overcome my fear of the dribbling, rabid hell-hound and chased the bastard off, I really thought it was gonna go for me. Now the fox probably associates me with the fecking dogs, I don't know why I bother, how would the arsehole from the stables like it if I set a pack of wolves on his horses, GRRRRR !!!!!!!!!!!! They've already probably killed my vixen and a cub from last year and crippled the dogfox, why doesn't he just set the dogs on me and have done with it, he's an absolute shit-head letting those dogs loose while he sits on his fat arse and has no control over them whatsoever. I spend more time guarding our animals than I do bloody well photographing them. I've had to stop trying to photograph hares and taking part in a mammal survey for the People's Trust For Endangered Species because of all the gormless idiots letting their dogs loose in the fields where I'm supposed to do it. No matter how polite I am as soon as you criticize their dogs they flippin' well turn on you, get agressive and even threaten me, I'm SICK TO DEATH of idiot dog owners behaving so selfishly and ruining everything I ever try to photograph. And I know it's the owners not the dogs, the idiot arse-bag who owns the alsation should have his dogs taken off him. And yes it's a crap shot but he's just spotted the dogs running towards us and is about to make his escape, I hope he continues to out-smart them but I don't hold out much hope...................

PHEW, I have to get these things out every now and again or I'd spontaneously combust or something.........

The "mysterious dotmaker" has extended his repertoire in the last weeks. He's been using all white (extra big) and all black (extra small) dots. His actions are not limited to the city center and to traffic lights. I've seen his work in Katendrecht also.

Does anyone know more about this artist, his motives or background?

Here you see the prof's glasses. This Midsummer he is waiting to have a slight repair following the cataract surgery he had done a couple of years ago. The procedure is said to take 15 minutes. The wait to have it dome was said to be 14 weeks long when he was first put on the list at the time of the General Election. On enquiry we find that it is now likely to take 18 weeks. I wonder whether he will have the use of his eye by the Autumn Equinox? Or by next Summer?

Meanwhile, I added a little experimental book-repair tape to his specs in the hope that the fuzzy eye will be less distracting if it is unequivocally blocked out.
