Resumbitting for "distress" week...
My scrap was a fairly large one: the dye colored background with the tree stamped onto it. I made this piece last week, playing around with various distress inks. So, I decided to incorporate it into my card.
It was still too wet for me to use when I had time last week, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out we could use scraps this week. I added the "thanks" sentiment and assembled the card for this week's challenge.
Materials used:
* cardstock: cream and dark brown
* Creative Memories Corner Rounder
* Fadeless art board
* Hero Arts CL184 Thoughtful Messages ("thanks")
* Hero Arts S5037 DesignBlock Tree
* Ranger Inkssentials Non-Stick Craft Sheet
* ribbon
* Tim Holtz Distress Inks: broken china (blue), peeled paint (green), tea dye (background), and walnut stain (stamped images)
For more information about this card, please see my blog, Gaal Creative.

For the 'sketches2' challenge to take on Friday sketch, and also for 'Thinking Inking class part 2 of week 9' at 2Peas.
Started to think rotating HA Shari's Friday sketch 90 degree. 'Cause I got some imagination from Jennifer's card window panel which she showed us at Thinking Inking class part 2 of week 9 video.
The method for coloring is from 'Dry Embossed Alcohol Inked Background'.
*Maybe interpreted the sketch too loosely as same as Tuesday sketch.
stamp used:
HA Clear Design Thank Yoou Sayings / CL341
HA Clear Design Feather Grass / CL282

Resubmitting for the Spring challenge! :-)
One of my friends has triplets that are about to turn one year old. So I decided to make a fun card in the shape of the number 1 for their birthday! This is the resulting card and matching envelope. There is just a bit of pale green dye sponged between the bunnies on the envelope to give that hint of grass!
When making this card, I selected a very thick patterned cardstock by BoBunny for the card base. And because the main part of the card is so narrow, I didn't want to add a lot of bulk to the front that would make it imbalanced and not stand up well for display. That's why I decided to keep things simple with paper piercing and embossing, and why I adhered the bunnies directly to the card without pop dots.
Materials used:
* A2 envelope (to hold 4.25" x 5.5" card)
* bone folder
* BoBunny Double Dot double-sided cardstock: Wasabi (green)
* cardstock: white
* chipboard from food product to make template
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Hero Arts CL139 Birthday Messages ("happy birthday")
* Hero Arts CL153 Happy Day Animals (bunnies)
* Hero Arts CL155 Playful Animals ("hip hip hooray")
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Giga punch (purple): 3" circle (when making template)
* mousepad
* needle
* Odorless mineral spirits (OMS) - Mona Lisa brand (Michael's)
* pencil
* Prismacolor Premier colored pencils
* Ranger Archival Ink (waterproof): jet black
* Ranger embossing powder: seafoam white
* ruler
* Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop (dye ink): new sprout (pale green)
* Tsukineko Sponge Daubers (I **love** these!)
* Tsukineko VersaMark watermark ink
Thanks for looking!
-------------------------------------
Edited to add:
The triplets were born on Easter Sunday last year (March 23rd) which is why I used the bunnies! :-)
You can download a template for this card from my blog, Gaal Creative.

For the HA 'sneakyinspiration' challenge.
This card was made inspired by the sneak peek #3 - a bigger flower motif at the left side of the cling stamp.
The choice of colors are inspired by Lisa's sample shabby chic cards she showed us on HA blog this week. I changed it to modern look for my card, not shabby chic.
Thanks Lisa for the inspiration!
I'm gonna send this card to one of my friends with gifts. So happy I could finish this rapidly!
stamp used:
HA Dandelion / G4917 (for the flower center)
HA SE: Artistic Windows / LP128
HA Clear Design Mix & Match Elements/ CL266
HA Clear Design L Artistic Borders / CL322

Hello! This is a card that I made for my sweetie!
The heart has been cut out and adhered with pop dots for dimension. I colored in the flowers and the rest of the border using a glitter gel pen. It really shines in person!
I also used two colors of ink on the heart. The second color is applied just around the edges for a bit of vignetting. It is a bit hard to see in the photo, but it is there!

* cardstock: white
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Hero Arts CL301 Hugs and Hearts
* Hero Arts PS507 Kraft Notecards with Envelopes

One of our favorite charities is the Carolina Raptor Center. They care for and rehabilitate birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and owls. I wanted to make a card to thank their staff, so naturally I thought of using an owl stamp!
I decided to put the owl in front of a pretty full moon, made from patterned paper. (I don't know why he looks so orange in the picture, he's really more of a golden brown than orange.) The owl is raised on pop dots for dimension.
Materials used:
* American Crafts ribbon: from "Boutique Amber" collection

I took this picture before I adhered the "thank you" sentiment on the scalloped circle to the inside of the card (shown here in front of the card), just so that you could see it.
I used Glossy Accents to make the doll's hair shiny. She is raised on pop dots above the scalloped circle, and the fan is raised on more pop dots for even more dimension. Also, it's a little hard to see in the photo, but the butterflies on the ribbon have a bit of glitter and shine to them. I love the "painterly look" that I got with the DesignBlock Flourish stamp on the acetate!
I was inspired to put the doll in a blue circle with black scallops after seeing cards made by a friend of mine, Sandy.
Materials used:
* cardstock: white, textured blue, textured black
* Clearsnap/Colorbox pigment ink: black (thank you sentiment)
* Dress It Up Petals (larger blue flower gemstone)
* EK Success 3D-Dots: 1/16" squares
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Grafix Clear Craft Plastic .007 medium weight (acetate)

* Hero Arts CL142 Thank You Messages
* Hero Arts small pink flower gemstone from a Sparkle Clear set
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Mega punch (pink): 2 1/2" scalloped circle and circle
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Super Jumbo punch (blue): 2" circle

Resubmitting for "distress" week...
Hi! I was so excited to read about Deloris' Catalog CASE challenge! It sounded like so much fun, and I had just acquired the Heart Flourish stamp and was dying to use it!
I selected the tag on page 71 of the Hero Arts 2009 catalog to CASE. The tag was made by Sally Traidman and features the Heart Flourish stamp. I started with Sally's tag as my inspiration, but I decided to change the colors and make the tag into a card. I love the pink and orange color combo of Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks and decided to use that as my color theme.
Materials used:
* Avery pre-strung shipping tag: manilla
* cardstock: kraft
* chipboard circle, 1 3/4" diameter
* gemstones, large red (unknown brand)
* Hero Arts K5153 Heart Flourish

I was inspired to make this card based on a beautiful one-layer card created by Anette Hjerpaasen of Norway. I was so taken by the sunset effect in Anette's card. And I really liked the torn edge of the "grass", too. These details are what inspired me to create this card.
Materials used:
* cardstock: white, textured pink
* Hero Arts flower gems from Sparkle Clear sets
* Hero Arts CL305 Sending Happy Thoughts
* Hero Arts K5094 Slanted Tree

This card is a first of TWO things for me. First it is my FIRST ever ATC card!!! I never really "got" the ATC thing. I always thought they were adorable but never really could figure out what to do with them. I hate clutter so it was a "draw back" to me. Then I made this one...and I was hooked. It's like a mini scrapbook page or card...then I started thinking I could save my favorite papers or stamps by creating with them this way and put them all in a little album...I love mini albums.
Second....I never do anything Halloween. You might say I am anti-halloween....not because of it's meaning....but because I live in Halloween Central (Salem MA) We get them all....all year round... but it's bad here around Halloween. I just will it to be over starting today. I couldn't resist this though. I just wanted to do something in a Halloween theme and this was it! :) My kids are very proud of me...they LOVE Halloween!
So I have opened up to 2 new things this week and I am so glad that I did! :)

This is the first time I've ever made a card in a shape other than an A2 sized rectangle. I've always wanted to, but never have - so I was really excited that this week's challenge was to make shaped cards!
I decided I wanted to make a scalloped circle card using acetate, but it was harder than I thought! My punch wouldn't cut through one layer of the acetate, much less two, so I had to use a piece of scrap paper to make a template, then trace it, and cut it out.
Materials used:
* bone folder
* Die Cuts with a View (DCWV) metallic 12"x12" paper stack
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Grafix Clear Craft Plastic .007 medium weight (acetate)

Hi there! I haven't made a scrapbook layout in a long time, so I new I wanted to create one for this week's challenge.
I really love Sarah's journal page showing her kids blowing out birthday candles. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use it as my inspiration. I knew that it would work well with some pictures I recently took. They are from a walk in the woods my husband and I shared at a park near our home.
One of my favorite parts of Sarah's layout is the scalloped border all the way around the photo montage. But, I don't own Hero Arts CL288 Scallop Borders yet. (It's on my wishlist!) So, I used my Fiskars Threading Water border punch, instead.
Materials used:
* cardstock, textured: white, rust, blue, and green
* Fiskars Threading Water border punch
* Hero Arts CL123 Whimsical Alphabet (names)
* Hero Arts CL146 Travel Journal ("remember this" journal block)
* Hero Arts CL147 Favorite Journal ("a day in the life of")
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Mega punch (pink): 2 1/2" scalloped circle
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Super Jumbo punch (blue): 2" circle
* photo montage created in Photoshop and printed on photo paper
* Plaid All Night Media Pop Dots
* Ranger Archival Ink (waterproof): jet black
* Ranger embossing powder: seafoam white
* Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop (dye ink): potter's clay
* Tsukineko VersaMark watermark ink
Thanks for looking!
UPDATE 3/5/09:
Someone asked about the dimensions of the photos in my scrapbook layout. The verticals are approximately 1 3/16" wide x 5 3/8" long ... and the bottom piece (for the page title or sentiment) is approximately 6 13/16" wide by 1 3/16" tall.
