If you have a front-cell focusing lens with a distance ring held by set screws, mark the location of the infinity index on the lens after you remove the distance ring.

Now you can put it back in the correct orientation. Use the original indentations (or drilled pockets as here) for the set screws to make it exact.

In virtually every case, the correct infinity position will be the farthest back that the lens can go with the index lined up. If you have a multi-start thread for the focusing helical that can complicate things a bit, but generally you need to be on the thread that reaches the infinity mark when it's almost seated all the way back. Of course it's always a good idea to check focus after reassembly, but you'll generally find that this has put you in the right place.

I have this one spot, our big huge gratitude tree takes up most the space but I also manage to stick a few other treasures on top of this one spot. I have tried to make it look less cluttered but always eventually it ends up full. Rich spotted this little tin box for me a few weeks ago, he thought it suited me just perfect "Random Crap" or as Austin likes to say Random C-nap because he claims to have never learned how to read cursive properly. Anyway this spot where I keep things, is one of my favorite spots in the house

My daughter-in-law's 39th birthday was this week and she decided to do 39 random acts of kindness that day. I found this heartfelt note on my door which literally made my day. Some of the other things she did were baked cookies and thank you notes for the fire and police department, lottery tickets on windshields. survival kits for homeless people, and a pile of quarters left at the laundromat.

What a wonderful idea! I wish I'd heard about it before I was 66...lol

iliah loving the flowers as well...:)

Random people walking/riding past my oh so perfect paparazzi location in Delft.

Just now, I was browsing through a bunch of shots I took at the Random Passage film site summer of 2011, and wondered why I hadn't processed more of them. The answer is: they don't look real. With most of the buildings, it's quite clear that, though they might be fairly accurate in reflecting the times, it is also clear that they were never "lived in" - fireplaces with no soot... everything just too clean. Of all the shots I have of the insides of the buildings, this one probably hides this fact the best.

This was pretty random. I forget what I was doing, but my sister may have been involved. I like it for some reason.

Hooray.
