I attended a great pair of classes and a house concert by Byron Yasui (left) of the University of Hawaii yesterday. The classes, which were basically music theory as applied practically to the ukulele, were held at the workshop/studio of luthier Mike DaSilva. Halfway through the second one, Randall Wright dropped by to demonstrate the new bamboo uke that Mike built for him to take on his "Global Ukulele Odyssey" to India, China, and other parts East. I'm not sure what Byron made of Randall...
