I was finally able to finish my Broken Rainbow piece for my partner in the FTLOS2 swap. I was inspired to create a non-typical rainbow with triangles, somehow creating movement with something that wasn't curved or round. Hopefully you like what you see and it was worth the wait! I am going to have a hard time mailing this one off tomorrow.

Added some hand stitching. Yay almost done, time for binding!! #gettingthere #dollquilt #rainbowquilt #handstitching

Pattern by Nova

Made from scraps! Dimensions are 36" by 52". Backing is a red Riley Blake flannel, binding is orange Pezzy Print by American Jane. Quilted by machine with Aurifil 50 wt in a light gray on top and a rainbow variegated in the bobbin. Completed October 2013.

The top is completely done for my scrappy lonestar. I wanted to make a color wheel to hang in my sewing room. And then I found this tutorial by "Better Off Thread".

The quilt top actually came together very quickly - just a matter of a few days. I love how its a snapshot of my current fabric stash.

Thanks to Better off Thread for sharing my Instagram pic in her feed, I had over 100 "likes". A very big compliment.

Fabric is Sandi Henderson's Henna Garden fabrics from her Farmers Market, Meadowsweet and Meadowsweet 2 ranges + linen.

I'm always happy to find a way to use two inch scrap squares :) These are nine patches with the diagonal in black and each of the two sides in a different color in the color wheel progression. Setting is on point. So simple that I wouldn't have explained it, except, when I looked at it this morning and tried to remember what it was, all I could see at first were four patches :)

A scrappy rainbow log cabin quilt that I've made twice now :)

Made from various scraps and strings 2" and less from my scrap hoard. 59" by 71". I used the method described in a tutorial at Film in the Fridge (found here: filminthefridge.com/2009/04/27/a-string-quilt-block-tutor...). Binding is Itty Bitty RicRac by LakeHouse Designs and backing is a sheet from Ikea. I pieced it with Aurifil 50 wt and machine quilted it as well with 50 wt, using a variegated rainbow thread for the bobbin and light gray for the top thread. Completed August 15, 2014.

Rainbow fun. Pattern from Blue Elephants site. Quilt blogged here wombatquilts.com/2013/03/22/loud-bright-and-fun-the-quilt/

All done and the binding will be in black. This one is only about 38 inches square, but the rainbow colors really shine! With the strips being only a quarter inch different from one another, the shape ends up as kind of an octagon/circle. You can't see this in the picture, but the background is made with scrappy blacks, so you get a design from the slight differences in their intensity. The next picture is a backlit shot :) Pictures & comments in Piecing 2016 Set 1.

Just got this from Elaine - THANK YOU ELAINE!!!! I adore rainbow motifs so this is so perfect for me - and she even managed to incorporate birds! Ah, this will look sooo good on my sewing room wall.

Inspired by an old beach towel that I saw recently in an old family photo. I thought it would be a perfect way to use these lovely hand printed fabrics! blogged here.

Zig Zag quilt

I had wanted to make a zig zag quilt for a while and I thought the colors complimented my 2 year old's vibrant personality.
