Con Maqueta a motor eléctrico.-

Local suburban parks are being more and more commonly used by people flying and practicing with drone toys. This is a high performance drone being flown by some local guys.

The camera in front is sending its feed back to the headset of the guy flying it.

A couple of radio control pylon racing aircraft. These Q40 aircraft can top 180-miles per hour - 300 Kilometres per hour. No fun trying to track them! Thanks to the Edmonton Radio Control Society for your hospitality at Sunday's races.

No feathers on this bird. A radio control stunt plane on take-off. The yellow in the background is from a field of canola.

One of the dozens of scale and semi scale model aircraft at the Edmonton Radio Control Society's electric fun fly.

Probably 1982, so I would be 12 years old. The radio control car is made by Corgi. Note the carpet design, ghetto blaster behind me and the fake wood cased CRT Ferguson television. At the time my glasses would have glass lenses, this made them heavy and liable to break if you dropped them. Lightweight plastic lens appeared much, much later. Photo taken by my Father who passed away recently.

Very impressive display - shame not the real thing

Yep, I'm a big kid! I like to play with model cars.... and I'm not ashamed of it either 😎

iPhone pic, so no control over exposure, however the sign on the fence does say this:

"Warning: Motorsport is dangerous" in the triangle and to the right of it;

"BRCA members only beyond this point"

It was a good day and I improved with every qualifying round.

rocks, water, mud, sandbars - tons of fun for RC 4x4 off-roading

1:16 scale radio controlled WW2 Sherman M4A3 tanks

A few rocks and some branches are no match for 4x4 power.

I just got this truck for my birthday and it is bone stock. I have some upgrades planned for it, but it is just so much fun to drive that I can't stop to do anything to it.

One of my blue B Class Live Steam Darjeeling locos pulls a passenger train at the Steamtown steam up. This is the Himalayan Bird loco with the eagles that I made for the cylinder covers. I also did up the luggage van seen behind the loco.

Things are returning to normal - the yachts are back on the water. at Ebridge Mill.

Tree roots across this trail make for a great obstacle to drive over.

On a test run of my new 4x4 I ran it around the mainline of the backyard railroad.

Let's offroad!

I haven't run this Tamiya Jeep Wrangler for possibly as long as 20 years, I'm not sure. I bought it when it was first released. But it's a lovely little thing in Tamiya's finest tradition of detail perfect moulded bodywork and a chunky plastic chassis and transmission. I remember it used to run for ages on a battery because it has the ubiquitous and underwhelming Mabuchi 540 motor, and because I used to drive it at a snail's pace, truck trialing my way over tree roots and along the edges of streams, watching the suspension articulate.

There are scrapes and bashes galore, but they're earned, baby. One day I will buy some rust coloured paint and touch up all the bits where the white plastic is showing through.

The headlamps and spotlights are functional, but could do with being upgraded to LEDs. In a box somewhere I have a metal roofrack that I made, to carry spare tyres and tools, for those grand overland adventures, and it had a light bar with four more spotlights that I made from lexan and tinfoil, with torch bulbs to penetrate the gloom, were they not woeful things that would make a glow worm look high powered.
