For Macro Mondays - A Gift

A gift I gave myself when I was feeling down before Xmas - it has thrown up 3 buds, and each stem has 4 flowers - a real spirit lifter!!

I loved that song!!!

Processed for Sliders Sunday

Karakoy-Beyoglu/ Istanbul

One of my balcony flowers with bee from last summer. Which made me happy! I combined the image with a zoom filter and liked the result. I had a square crop too and for the longest time I couldn't make up my mind which one to use. Settled on this because I feel it's got more room to move and I liked more grey in it.

Have a sunny Friday !

EXPLORED: June 26, 2009.. Thanks everyone.

Messing around in photoshop again..

HSS: Base image is a few back in my stream. Converted to an "InfraRedish" effect (total colour inversion and tweak Red and Blue channels (inverting them again)). Apply the radial blur effect off centre, and add in some graduated white fill around the light source to lower the contrast in that area. Add the figure (one of my stock ones I've used before), and the tricky bit was then adding the shadow. I'm not totally happy with it but when I noticed I spent over an hour on the whole thing I thought, right, enough is enough :-)

For Flickr Friday's #purple theme

This is quite obviously (at least, I hope so!) purple! But I've always found it interesting that flowers described as 'blue' are quite often more purpley, as true blues are difficult to find in the floral world.

I don't like to use flowers for 'colour' themes as a rule. But these beautiful 'blue' asters are at their best in my garden at the moment, and they really were lending themselves to a bit of ICM play. Whilst I have been known to add radial blur in processing, this blur is all in camera; created

by trying to hold an off-centre focal point and rotating around it.

Taken with my flektogon, and the vintagey feel slightly enhanced in CEfex, though I did try to minimise impact on the colour. (I held an ND filter over the lens so that I could use a slower shutter speed; i have no idea if it's even possible to get filters for vintage lenses! This works remarkable well but does require a bit of concentration.)

Playing with a set of highlighters that I bought for my boys going back to school; but then wouldn't let them have, because the pens had too much photographic potential! I still haven't handed them over... :-(

[And yes, I know it's more of a rainbow wheel, rather than a traditional colour wheel. But rainbow wheeling didn't sound so good.]

Ooh interesting: apparently these colours aren't bright enough for the CatchyColours group. Assuming that's the reason for it being rejected anyway. Oh never mind: you win some, you lose some.

我……喜欢不真实的美ღ后制的感觉.

你跟我说,那只是一场梦。我回过神,才发现,原来这一切只是一场梦,一场美好的梦。

I've seen on Flickr so many exquisite shots of forests with beams of sunlight coming through the trees. I know some of those were taken on foggy days and the beams were actually there when the shot was taken but I suspect that many of the light beams were created in Photoshop so I set out to learn how to do that. Haven't quite figured it out yet but this is the first one worth sharing even though there is only a hint of visible beams of light. I did this using radial blur. Anyone have suggestions?

The problem of being on call, and stuck by a computer, is I find that bit more time to play around in Ps..

This was a sunset image where I only liked a portion of the sky, so I thought I'd try and create something with it..

It's a mad world... Thinking about all of the poor innocent people who lost their lives in today's horrific and tragic events.

I've seen a fair few of these and thought I'd try my hand at one. First attempt and it's a little 'brown' for my tastes.

Great fun and really easy to do. Big thanks to everyone making lockdown videos of how to do these type of effects.

Go Wild on Black

P.S: I added the blur effect in photoshop. I am trying to get my hands on photoshop once in a while.

Using a bit of radial blur in post processing to get this effect on some radio controlled hot air balloons as they drifted in the morning sunlight

Taken quite a few weeks ago now, but this felt like a sign that autumn was definitely on its way even back then.

The Mad World series took multiple test shoots because of the complexity of shooting a subject through a large pane of plexiglass. Everything in the room (including the lights) reflects on it from both sides and can be seen faintly in the shot: it's tough to eliminate them all. Most images of myself from test shoots are pretty silly because I'm running back and forth and often have my mouth full of food from sneaking in lunch. When I come across one that's rather nice, I appreciate it.

Un petit changement de couleur et de lumière entre le feuillage .... dédié à mes étudiants dans photoshop.

For this change of weather station I used my action created with photoshop, radial blur for light and for some reddish and green leaves with a brush.
