“There is no darkness but ignorance”.
One can only hope that we do not move to the Orwellian sense of light, “to the place where there is no darkness”.

Most of the above 160 Romanian women, in the best tradition of versatility, are true polymaths and therefore nearly each one of them falls in more than just one category, often three or more. This explains why adding the numbers of the 57 individual categories bears no relation to the actual total of the above 160 women included in Blouse Roumaine.

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

I wondered why this had so many views, and then I found it on tumblr, with thousands of notes. Crazzyyy!
“Life seems sometimes like nothing more than a series of losses, from beginning to end. That's the given. How you respond to those losses, what you make of what's left, that's the part you have to make up as you go.”
― Katharine Weber, The Music Lesson
George Bernard Shaw quotation . It refers to my belief that we can, we must.....believe for a healthy Earth, more highly evolved Earthlings. Expecting the worst never brought good results for me, and I am determined now to believe for good things, expect good things. It's so easy to look around and see with our eyes the Earth getting sicker, the end getting closer. But we are "little pieces of God" (Wayne Dyer) , even as a drop of our blood contains our makeup (DNA). If we call upon our Creator, who loves us and all the Earth, and determine to have faith "as a grain of mustard seed".....we can turn things around! Let's try it. Let's envision a healthy planet, people who care about each other and all living things. Let's speak words of faith and positivity. Let's see the essence of God in a sunset and a tree; be still and feel HIs Presence.
I'm not a churchgoer, but I am a Believer. Who senses the impossible miracle of life, and is very grateful.

Giving a man a fish and he will have something to eat for a day; teaching a man to fish and he will have something to eat for a lifetime; giving a man religion and he will die praying for a fish to come to him

The inscription which I have put on the glass jar reads:
If thou of fortune be bereft
And in thy store have but two loaves left,
Sell one and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
No Quotation this time, but a story. Yesterday I read a very interesting article about street non-photography during night time.
I was intrigued to try it out and left my tripod, remote and lenses at home. I just picked my 50mm 1.4 lens and tried some night (non-)photography. While I was walking through the pedestrian zone of my hometown, I met Torsten, who was standing in the middle of the road.
He was accompanied by a big sports bag and a bottle of beer, selling his "revolutionary newspaper", a political science fiction romance.
In Torstens own words this novel contained suspence from the first to the last sentence and talked about aliens, religion, conspiracy, the UN and the WHO
......all on 5 handwritten pages.
He was selliing his literary debut for a discount price of 1 Euro.
I couldn't really force myself do buy a copy after reading the first sentence, but I gave him the Euro anyway and asked for his approval to take his picture instead.
So here it is, Torsten and his novel at 3200 iso on a monday evening in my first conscious non-photography shot. If you can read german and want to desperatly read torstens "book", give me a shout and I arrange contact with him.
Plants stay alive in any climate needing light rays, flourish within windy days, sparkling at sunlight, often wondering how artists get to draw such splendour.
Dear Friends:
Today I changed my buddy pic.
I also posted some thoughts and the "full-figured" version of my new icon. I wasn't sure how long she would last in the limelight! Now she is hiding in the reeds. Very SPECIAL thanks to my close flickr friends who visited me during all this crazy flickr turmoil!
I share with you a poem:
Acquainted With the Night
By Robert Frost
I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain--and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,
But not to call me back or say good-by;
And further still at an unearthly height
One luminary clock against the sky
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.
