I finished my pink and yellow Little folks quilt yesterday and am very pleased with it. We have some sun for the first time in weeks, so you can really see the colours. The dark spots on the right side of the picture are actually shadows of the trees in my (very small) garden. Front, back and binding are Little folks and I used a double layer of batting to give it some extra volume.

I finished my triangle quilt this weekend! I was going to add a pieced binding and had it all cut out and ready. Then I went to get the mail and opened a fabric purchase, laid it near the quilt and discovered I liked the striped fabric so much, I used it for the binding! pretty great timing! The binding is Alexander Henry seaweed stripe.

A couple mistakes by the novice quilter (me). Used organic natural cotton batting. Not good for a quilt with lots of white-I can see all the little brown specks that are in this batting...

Also, used cream colored thread to quilt on a white fabric.

Also, got a big bubble in the backing after free motion quilting.

such is life.

The description card reads,

"Crazy Quilt 1883-1893

Silk, cotton, wool, and linen, pieced and embroidered with silk and cotton threads

Crazy quilts, which emerged after 1850, were usually composed of small, irregular-shaped fragments of silk, wool, and other fragments pieced together. The seams were then embroidered using a variety of stitches. They acquired the name “crazy quilts” because of the strong colors and busy, confusing nature of their designs, typical of Victorian taste."

This is an updated version of one of the first quilts I made. Measurements and a quick tutorial are posted here if you'd like to make a similar one!

Kaleidoscope quilt complete. I used a kaleido-ruler to cut the triangles and it was a lot easier than anticipated to construct.

"Life is like a patchwork quilt and each little piece is a day. Some are bright and sunny, some are cloudy and grey."

An old crazy quilt that I picked up somewhere. It's not in great condition, but obviously was made with love and was well loved by someone. It appears to have been made from old clothes. It has very thick cotton batting and is really heavy. It must have been so cozy sleeping under it!

For Macro Monday group's theme.... Cloth/Textile. One of my favorite things!

This quilt is 60" x 72" and I started it with the Kaleidoscope QAL that Elizabeth from Don't Call Me Betsy ran last spring. After much consulting with the internet quilting community, trials and pondering, I decided to go with the grey binding so as to not overbalance either the turquoise or charteuse. The fabrics are all 100% cottons from a number of different fabric lines, so I guess that makes it a little scrappy.

For DQS9 - hope it isn't too "busy" for my partner!

originally this quilt was going to be a "turning twenty" quilt. but it's impossible to pick just 20 amy butler prints, they are all so lovely. plus, i knew i wanted it for my king size bed. (mind you, this is only my second quilt! i must have been insane when i decided to tackle this project!) so i added an extra row or two... and ta da! my quilt is finished & just as beautiful as i imagined. every time i look at it i smile! it's so bright & cheery how could you go wrong?

So, I decided to make a Gypsy kisses quilt a couple weeks ago - I just finished it and absolutely love it! I used Scrumptious, Happy Go Lucky and Marmalade fabrics by Bonnie and Camille. It is my most favorite quilt I've made so far!

I did this one for my mom in her favorite color. In it are hand dyed fabric pieces that my cousin (nifers) made as "wraping paper" a few years back.

This quilt is part of a very clever strategy to beat the Oregon winter. Surround yourself in as much bright color as possible. It's worked for us so far:)

Some of the seams of the cream fabric were puckering a bit (see here) so I decided to quilt the crap out of it. Heart!

The squishy diamond in the middle is my favorite part.

This quilt was a joint effort between a midwife quilting friend and me. Based on a quilt my friend saw at a quilt show. If you are the designer , please contact me and I will gladly add a link to you.

I pieced the blocks in December, but set them aside when the layout stumped me.

It was hard cutting off those triangle halves...but it had to be done!

A baby quilt that I made a couple of friends expecting their first child in a few months. They recently moved to Denmark so I wanted to incorporate crosses into the quilt to represent the flag :)

This ended up being an angel quilt for Monica from the Round 1 Doll Quilt Swap.

This quilt is based on Amy Butler's strippy quilt - but I decided to use my scraps instead- it is my favorite quilt I've worked on yet.

Just finished this one, and it turned out just as I had hoped! Blogged here

Jaybird Quilts Tiny Dancer pattern, Dreamin Vintage fabric, quilt as you go

The piecing of this pattern was quite time consuming. Good thing I don't have to work right now, so I could spend some days sewing. Almost none of the seams match, and I simply gave up trying after a while and only concentrated on making the white seams match, thinking those would catch the eye and the others wouldn't matter as mutch.

I like the pattern of this quilt, but am not sure I chose the right fabric. Maybe someting bold and striking would have been better. Maybe next year...
