Yesterday i visited a good friend of mine. He´s a Tattoo-Artist here in my homeplace Guetersloh, Germany. I shot him at work with my Panasonic SDR-S150 and did a short Video with iMovie 08.

VLC, Perian and Flip4Mac is the answer to all your multi-media video needs on a Mac. VLC is an alternative to Quicktime and the native DVD player in OS X, while both Perian and Flip4Mac provide the necessary codecs to run just about all the video codecs available in the known universe. Stuff like DivX, H.264, Flash, AVI, MKV, and even the crappy Windows Media stuff that you can't escape from on the web.
A lessor known feature in VLC allows you to record video from your iSight camera. Of course, iChat already has this function, but it's good to know it's there.
There is a debate among Mac users as to whether Flip4Mac is even necessary if you have Perian installed, but I find its integration with web browsers important when playing embedded WMV files. Of course, Perian probably allows for Quicktime to play such content in the browser without help from Flip4Mac, but I've been too lazy to research it.
If you are lazy like me, just install all three and forget about it. And oh yes, all three downloads are free.

A conversation at lunch jostled my memory just enough for me to remember this assignment I did my first semester at ITP.
Take a look:
A short time lapse video from the 89th observation floor of Taipei 101.
Since I did not have a tripod with me, I had to brace the camera against the window over half an hour. As I do not have a camera capable of shooting sRAW, I was limited by the total number of shots I was able to take.
I cropped the images in Lightroom in 16:9 ratio and exported in 1280x720 resolution before assembling using QuickTime Pro. It turns out that QuickTime has some stability issues as it crashed once during assembly and I had to upload the video twice to Flickr.
Still figuring out a decent workflow and would love to hear any suggestions.

Watching a cool video of ""Jimmy" by MIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.I.A._(artist) )(A West London-based band [Hounslow] lead by a young, sometimes hugely controversial but artistically acclaimed, British Sri Lankan lady called Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam) from her latest album "Kala". It's an excellent kind of spoof of the classic song from the now cult (Indian cinema) film called Disco Dancer from 1982.

** Happy New Year **
The first day of the new year in our household generally consists of sleeping in, shaking off the hangovers, going for a nice long walk and of course putting away the festive decorations for another year.
Yep - that's me commencing a bit of voodoo on the tree.
It's a single frame from the 791 shots used to create a silly timelapse movie.

i use F9 (exposé - all windows) all the time, but i just learned that, once in there, you can switch apps by using the tab key.
i knew that that was common with F10 (exposé - all windows of one app), but never tried it while in F9 mode...
since i rarely use F10, this discovery is somewhat interesting.
just wanted to share it with you guys (...though most of you probably already know)

Converted from QuickTime file format to AVI, encoded with PNG, since ffmpeg doesn’t seem to copy the palette when copying the original (QuickTime Animation/RLE) palettized video data from the source file.

I edited this one in quicktime pro, pain in the ass, such a bad job I did here, especially how the music doesn't fade out and flickr really optimises the shit out it huh?

Great way to record web streaming content.... at full screen of course. Soundflower lets you reroute audio to various apps. This is a must when you want to record long shows without having external environmental sounds included in the recording.
