The chicanes in Station Hill have been removed and a start has been made to remove the island that sticks out into Billinton Drive - but work seems to have stopped. Oncoming traffic has the right of way so we just wait for a break :(

No timed ticket to get into the Cathedral but the doors don't open till 10 o'clock so by the time you've been up and down the Bell Tower a queue has formed for ticketholders to get into the Cathedral. In fact you don't need a ticket to get into the Cathedral itself as technically it's free and there is another queue round the corner at another entrance, twice as long, for non ticket holders seeking free entrance but it only lets you into a very limited space.

In Sweden we queue in life... and afterwards.

The crowd maybe large and slow to move but that is nothing to complain about when everyone here is showing their respects to the fallen of the Great War.

A small cart, brightly lit, holding its ground against the night. Menus promise simplicity; the queue suggests otherwise. Neon hums, hands tuck into pockets, and decisions are made slowly, one crepe at a time.

 

Street food as urban ritual. Warm light, cold air, quiet patience.
