Have been browsing through a few images from a trip to Far North Queensland a while ago. Funny how I invariably dismiss all my images on first viewing but given a little time manage to find a few I can live with :)

A stunning end to a stormy afternoon in Killarney, Queensland.

My flickr doesn't seem to be so well this morning so I hope this uploads. We are readying my in-laws today for a move to aged care so I will catch up with my flickr friends tomorrow. I hope your Sunday, whenever it arrives is as bright and breezy as these beautiful flowers.

4028 and 4039 head for Townsville near Woodstock with loaded phosphate train 9281 from Phosphate Hill.

This is the creek I in the previous shot of the Wandering Whistling Ducks on the way to Alva Beach near Ayr. It seemed more like a genuine billabong to me. You can see some of the ducks on the far bank on the left.

Haycock Island can be seen from the shores of Palm Cove. It's more commonly called Scout Hat Island as it looks just like that, an over-sized scout hat sitting in the water.

2410 heads away from Mamboo towards Alpha with the west bound Spirit of the Outback as PW57 from Brisbane to Longreach.

ORN003, ORN002 with ORN004 and ORN001 assisting, work hard over the hill at Balook with a loaded One Rail coal train from the Goonyella system to Dalrymple Bay

The ORN Class is a narrow gauge Progress Rail built EMD GT46C-ACe Gen III locomotive.

One Rail Australia operate two coal rakes in the Goonyella system, one with four ORN Class locomotives and the other with four older GWN Class locomotives, each with a spare to account for any failures or repairs.

Celebrating the record reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history: 23,226 days. NOT!

It's actually an addition to my Erratics series - where I'm trying to pull together a selection of images of things that, perhaps, shouldn't be where there they are - for whatever reason; opinion, chance, accident, mistake, thoughtlessness, expedience, laziness... The photo is taken on 'Queens Road' in Sheffield and the queen has nothing to do with it.

WRA001 and WRA002 put the foot to the floor through Leslie with empty Watco grain 6H34 from the port at Fishermans Island to Thallon.

Squeezing in during the last minutes of sunlight, PRL203, PRA001 and PRL205 depart Cloncurry with empty Zinc train 9M30 from Townsville.

Operating on behalf of Glencore by Qube Logistics, this traffic was previously operated by Aurizon and then Pacific National before moving to a more "in-house" operation using Qube's accreditation.

The PRL class are ex Queensland Rail 2250 class locomotives, exported to South Africa by Aurizon and returned to Australia in August 2021.

Sunday 24th July 2022

2846 and 4001, with 2200 in the middle acting as a “giant compressor” approach another level crossing on the Cloncurry Duchess Road, this one south of Maldon, as they head for Phosphate Hill with IPL combination train 9T76 from Townsville.

The phosphate wagons in the second half of the train require main reservoir pressure to keep the pneumatic equipment closed (doors/lids), resulting in a 2170 class locomotive in the middle to keep main res air flowing through the wagons. The front half sulphuric acid wagons do not have main res, making it impossible to transfer from the lead locomotives.
