Athabasca Falls in September when the flow is low. This falls is not known so much for the height of the falls (76 feet, 23 metres), as it is known for its force due to the large quantity of water falling into the gorge. Can be tough to get a shot from this spot in the Spring. Lots of misty and spray.
Another must stop along the Icefields Parkway, which is in view on the other side of the river.

Clivia is a genus of monocot flowering plants native to southern Africa. They are from the family Amaryllidaceae, subfamily Amaryllidoideae. Common names are Natal lily or bush lily. It grows in woodland habitats in South Africa and Swaziland. It grows into large clumps and is surprisingly water wise. It is a popular plant for shady areas. While native to South Africa, they grow in many countries. Flowers are red, orange or yellow. Yellow is much harder find than the common orange. Flowering time varies. Typically C. miniata, C. nobilis and C. caulescens flower in late winter and spring; in cultivation, C. miniata has out of season flowers at almost any time. C. gardenii and C. robusta flower in the autumn. Interspecific hybrids and cultivars can flower at almost any time of the year depending on climate and the flowering pattern of their parent species. A distinctive feature of Clivia – shared with the closely related genus Cryptostephanus – is that unlike most species in the subfamily, it does not form bulbs. The long strap-shaped leaves are evergreen and spring from thick branching roots or rhizomes. Like other members of the tribe Haemantheae to which it belongs, Clivia fruits are berries. When ripe, they contain large fleshy seeds which are often more than 1 cm in diameter. Some species of Clivia produce the alkaloid lycorine which is toxic in sufficient quantities, particularly in pets and small children. 67363
Given the quantity of Swamp Sparrow shots I got, it could be swampie for a few weeks... ;-) They are seriously cute little guys, with a surprisingly wide variety of plumages. All of them blend in very well with the background at this time of year, but they were active enough to make them fairly easy to spot if you were patient enough to wait for them to come out into the open. Petralia Soprana is located in the heart of Sicily, in the province of Palermo.
It is the highest town in the Madonie mountains, it dominates a vast landscape that ranges from the snow-capped peaks of Etna, to the city of Enna and the mountains of Palermo and then the wide valleys and waterways of the countryside that surround it.
A center of considerable importance during the Greek and Carthaginian domination, Petralia was the first Sicilian city to be dominated by the Romans, called "Petra" it was one of the cities that supplied the largest quantities of grain to the Roman Empire.
Following the Arab conquest, its name was changed to “Batraliah” and it became a powerful defensive stronghold at the time of the Normans.
Even today the town still preserves its medieval urban structure intact, with narrow paved streets, churches and noble palaces, suggestive courtyards and linear stone houses that widen into suggestive little squares and splendid views.
In 2018 it was awarded the title of "Most beautiful village in Italy".

Nel 2018 si e' aggiudicato il titolo di “Borgo piu' bello d'Italia”.

The Common Milkweed is the plant that most people associate with the word “milkweed”. This is a tall and conspicuous species that sometimes forms large clones. The umbels bear large balls of pink to purplish flowers that have an attractive odor. This species is known to form hybrids with both A. exaltata (in the east) and A. speciosa (in the west). Follicles split open in the fall and early winter dispensing wind borne seeds. Among the milkweeds, this species is the best at colonizing in disturbed sites. Within its range it can be found in a broad array of habitats from croplands, to pastures, roadsides, ditches and old fields. It is surprisingly rare in prairies in the Midwest being found mostly in disturbed sites within these habitats. As an indigenous species of the southern Great Plains, it has all the attributes of what some ecologists call a “fugitive species”. That is, one whose appearance and persistence is dependent on disturbance due to its inability to compete with other vegetation. In the northern parts of its range it seems to be a more permanent member of the floral communities.
The plant contains cardiac glycosides, allied to digitalins used in treating some heart disease. These glycosides, when absorbed by monarch butterfly larvae whose sole source of food is milkweed foliage, make the larvae and adult butterflies toxic to birds and other predators.

A seaview at Filey Brigg

Filey Brigg is a long narrow peninsula situated about a mile north of Filey, North Yorkshire. Its steep cliffs are 20 metres high and consist of a variety of material, from pure sandstone to pure limestone. The landward end of the peninsula of Filey Brigg is known as Carr Naze, whilst the long neck of rock at the seaward end is called the Brigg. In the early 1970s the fields on top of the Brigg were turned into Filey Brigg Country Park. The biology and geology of Filey Brigg place it among Sites of Special Scientific Interest in North Yorkshire.
The first record of Filey Brigg's ancient history was made by a local antiquarian, Dr Cortis (MD), who excavated a Roman signal station in 1857. In November that year he delivered a lecture to Filey's antiquarians in which he enumerated a number of findings made by "a painter belonging to Filey, named Wilson," who had found large quantities of Roman pottery, bones and charred wood in the area of Carr Naze on the northern side of Filey Bay. The findings encouraged more excavations, the result of which was five large stones believed to be altars or bases of pillars, a dog chasing a stag being carved on one of them. Cortis also reported that near one of the stones an inscription had been found bearing part of two lines:

Further investigations conducted in 1920 resulted in the belief that the five stones found by Cortis were foundations of a wooden watchtower. However no further remains are visible nowadays because of cliff erosion. It was concluded that the signal station was erected in the late 4th century and was abandoned or plundered around 400 A.D. The five stones can now be seen in the Filey Crescent Gardens.

Because large quantities of water are taken from the sources of the Jordan by the countries of Israel and Jordan, the river today is a small, winding, dirty stream that makes its way to the Dead Sea. The river winds so much on its journey from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea that the entire course runs about 130 miles instead of the 60 miles it would take if it ran straight.

A walking trail passes a golden-roofed Greek Orthodox church and leads to a shaded wooden platform by the river, which here is little more than a creek lined with reeds. You can be baptised in the Jordan if accompanied by a priest; there's also a font accessible to all that is filled with water from the river (but note that, despite its holy status, the river itself is quite polluted, so the water shouldn't be drunk).
This is the only place where civilians can currently touch the Jordan River in Jordan, as the remainder runs through a military no-man’s land. Across the river is the Israeli-run complex of Qasr Al Yahud in the Palestinian Territories, where you can often see large groups of religious tourists being baptised.

According to a retraction the folks at Scientific American had to print in 1895,
"...An artist who lends himself to such methods of deception may be ranked as a thoroughbred knave, to be shunned by everybody". The folks at Scientific American had been fooled by the work of a Colorado photographer.
Earlier that year, W.L. Thorndyke, editor of the Loveland Reporter decided to help a buddy promote his potatoes. Photographer, Adam H. Talbot created an image that made it look as though farmer, Joseph B. Swan was carrying an 86-pound potato. It was never meant to be a fraud, just fun.
Somehow a copy of the image found its way to the editor of Scientific American. He thought it was real and printed an engraving of the image in the magazine along with this caption. "This huge vegetable specimen is 28 inches long, 14 in diameter, and is said to weigh 86lb. 10oz., which is equivalent to the weight of 1 1/2 bushels of ordinary potatoes. It is of the Maggie Murphy variety, excellent in quality and prolific in quantity".
There are two old potato barns in Sedgwick County, Colorado. Taters were once a big part of the economy on the eastern plains but not anymore. That didn't stop a couple of "thoroughbred knaves" from trying to capture the flavor of "The Great Potato Hoax" for your pleasure.

This Puffin has two much larger fish rather than the usual load of smaller ones carried by the other birds
On their way to make a delivery of a large quantity of long and matured bamboo are two guys riding on a motorcycle cart which is passing in mid-morning along the national road at a moderate speed.
The bamboo of this variety is used for the construction of temporary shelters and fishing boats.
It is pretty obvious that the buyer has an urgent need for this particular construction material as he asked that it be delivered to him immediately, no matter if the delivery day falls on a Sunday, which is usually a rest day for many working Filipinos. On the part of the seller, on the other hand, it is a good opportunity for him to turn his bamboo into cold cash, which during this coronavirus pandemic-era is hard to come by. And for these two delivery boys, it is a work, period.

The Caledonia Bridge is one of the most significant and impressive bridges in Canada. The bridge is recognized as the longest rainbow arch bridge in Ontario. It may be the longest bridge of its type in all of Canada, thanks to its unparalleled number of spans. Rainbow arch bridges are often also called bowstring through arch bridges. The bridge's structural material is reinforced concrete. The spans of this bridge are large, compared to many other rainbow arch bridges in Ontario, and they tower over the average sized car. In addition to their height, the Caledonia Bridge is equally impressive in terms of its quantity of spans, and its total length, which make this an impressive and graceful structure without compare. The bridge also is unaltered from its original design and thus has good historic integrity. It is a key landmark for Caledonia and this heritage bridge should receive the highest preservation priority.
The site of the current Caledonia Bridge has a long history of being the location of an impressive and noteworthy bridge. In fact, the existing bridge replaced a bridge which was a large, six example of a Whipple Arch truss that was built in 1875. Each of those spans was 105 feet (32 Meters) in length. A large brick toll-keepers residence was also built near the north end of this bridge. This toll house remains in place today. At least one portion of this 1875 bridge collapsed due to overloading by a truck in 1925, prompting an interest in seeking construction of a new bridge which would lead to construction of the existing rainbow arch. This bridge was built in 1927 by Randolph MacDonald Company of Toronto, Ontario. The engineer for the structure was A. B. Crealock from Ontario Department of Public Highways.
Solely led by an Illinois Central "Death Star," Canadian National's southbound Peoria Local (L55791 12) crosses above Oakland Avenue/Illinois Route 48 in Decatur. In all the years I lived there, I never got another shot of a train at this spot and probably don't intend to. Quality over quantity.

Not the grand final photo I planned, had a VERY busy day!
So, that's it. 365 has been a great learning experience and a record of my 49th year!
I've had to look at my everyday life in a new and interesting way - I've learnt a lot - taken quite a mixed bag of photos.
Will be great to have the daily pressure taken away and now I intend to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. More landscapes hopefully and get to grips with photoshop.

Massive quantities of Yellow-rumped Warblers have arrived in Northeast Ohio coinciding with a large hatching of midges along Lake Erie. Just as the midges are an easy target for the warblers, the warblers are providing an easy target to local bird photographers. In trying to keep things interesting, I look for a spot that provides a nice setting and then wait for a bird to arrive and complete the composition. Fortunately, with so many birds present I don't have to wait very long. For this shot I found an area with a colorful, softly lit background and waited for the Yellow-rumped warbler to enter the space.

Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon) is a shallow salt lake in the southwest of the altiplano of Bolivia, within Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and close to the border with Chile.
The lake contains borax islands, whose white color contrasts with the reddish color of its waters, which is caused by red sediments and pigmentation of some algae.
James's flamingos abound in the area. Also it is possible to find Andean and Chilean flamingos, but in a minor quantity.

Small numbers of early Zenits was produced by KMZ, in 1981-82
Zenit ETs also exist without aperture automation. They offered various finish materials and colours like silver, black, bronze.
This camera is an attempt to modernize the Zenit EM. Initially it looked just like an EM with new lettering, with new designs on the dials.
The cameras produced in BeLomo are a complete remake of earlier Zenit ET. The shape and features remain the same, but material that camera was made is different. It mostly made from plastic and lite alloy. Not only external parts like top and bottom cowers made from plastic, but many internal gears, levers, and pulleys are made from plastic also. But the camera works very smooth, quieter then metal counterpart and the most peculiar feature on this model is the first multi coated lens in mass production.
The Soviet times factory Vileiskiy Zavod Zenit new name is Vilejka Factory, or officially OM RUP ZENIT. Founded in early 1969 in Vilejka, about 75km north-west of Minsk, as a side plant of MMZ and KMZ to produce Zenit cameras. Vilejka, has produced many Zenit models: E, TTL, ET, 11, 15, under slightly different designations. Vilejka is apparently still producing Zenits, i.e. Zenit 130.
MMZ (Minsk Mechanical Factory) was founded in 1957. It started making optical glass and producing cameras that were developed by GOMZ. In 1971 MMZ and Vileiskiy Zavod Zenit merged to form BelOMO (Belorussian Optical and Mechanical Association) . It was based in Minsk.
Optical-Mechanical Factory Valdai is located about 400km north-west of Moscow. Very little is known of this plant, but it has been a prolific producer of lenses for KMZ, and Zenit BelOMO. The SLR lenses bear the Helios name.
