Some interesting facts about pythons:

- Python is a non-venomous snake species. It is a constrictor, a snake that kills its prey by squeezing.

- The biggest snakes on our planet are pythons and some species can reach lengths of up to 35 feet.

- Exhibit little timidity and rarely try to escape even when attacked.

- Are good swimmers.

- Pythons prefer to capture prey by ambush, they drape across tree branches, camouflaged by their light and dark patterned skin, waiting to ambush their meal. They have a forked tongue with sensors that can help them detect odor from potential prey. They grab the prey with a quick lashing out of the head, then wrap themselves around the prey so it cannot breathe.

- The python can swallow prey bigger than its diameter because the jaw bones are not connected.Large pythons are capable of eating animals such as pigs, deer and antelope.

- The teeth of python snakes angle backward to keep hold on prey during constriction.

- Check out the skeleton of a Indian Python.

The color pattern is whitish or yellowish with the blotched patterns varying from shades of tan to dark brown. This varies with terrain and habitat.
