Working on a jigsaw puzzle can be a distraction from the cold and ice outside. My wife got this 2000 piece puzzle for Christmas and after several weeks it was finally finished.

Got word today it will be a couple of weeks till the puzzle storage work space will arrive. I am tired of fixing what the cats have moved around, while they are trying to help put it together. I think it takes longer to put the pieces right each time I do it and I do very little new each day but fix what has been done in the past. Puzzle Fail until the puzzle keeper arrives.. .
Dragon Wooden Puzzle
I won this at a charity auction benefiting Tiger haven. I used Liquid Gold (almond-scented mineral oil essentially) to bring out the grain and give it some shine.
Puzzle face up got damaged recently and couldnt use her as model... But finally today managed to finish her again.
Wanted her to look the same.... but ended even prettier :3
We have done 21 puzzles since this crazy time started - this is #21. Ravensburger is the best brand we've done so far - this is a Colin Thompson one and it's tops. The corner you see is the actual finished puzzle. Other puzzles we did would never stand for this - they'd just crumble. Also, this one was fun!
I bought this puzzle in 2012 on our cross country road trip, while we were in either Grand Tetons or Yellowstone. This fall we got one of those roll-up puzzle mats and in January I FINALLY opened the puzzle. We worked on it for a handful of nights over a couple weeks. Feels like it was a cheater puzzle since there is tons of text plus the map aspect, so it was easier to approximate where the pieces would go. Regardless, it was really fun and so satisfying to put it together! Kind of addictive and I stayed up way too late one night because I just kept saying to myself, one more piece! oops, now one more!
This is the puzzle mat that we got, but it really is giant. Way too big for this puzzle. Also, I definitely should have opened it ahead of time to wash and iron it, to get the big fold/wrinkles out.

And finally, it made me wish that we had a kid-safe space/room where we could store it. Instead, each time we had to bring in the card table from the garage and unroll the mat.

The puzzle consists of 9 pieces - Use the pieces to form a variety of shapes. Each double diamond (1 piece) is a folded one rectangle. The Diamonds can swivel on a hinge to alter the shape. The folds and the puzzles created are generally easy to fold and solve.

Bella Puzzles cut our names into the puzzle. Guests wrote messages on the back of each piece. The one from our pastor (my friend Adam) says "May the rocks in your path be made of gold... not crack"
