…must be a little difficult to concentrate on your putt with a view like this! I’m no golfer but a marker with a large No’10 on it I assume means this is the tenth hole at Mullion golf course! The cove is Church Cove at Gunwalloe on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall…. Many thanks for all you visits whilst we were busy with family, I’ll endeavour to catch up ASAP………

The St Andrews Ladies' Putting Club is probably better known to visitors from around the world as The Himalayas which is an apt description for this unique facility found in St Andrews, the home of golf.

Today was another in a series of stormy days here in So. Cal. It's been an interesting year. :)

Eventually, I found my way to the golf courses.

Even if you don't play golf, you might like the way this mini putting green is maintained and manicured. :)

Who's ready to get some practice puts in?

Frankly, I can't imagine what it is like playing golf on a hot day. Or even to just play golf.

Day 96/365 - So close...practice golf ball.

Must be a resort thing to stack up golf balls like this at the driving range. I always just had a bucket of balls that you'd schlep from the pro shop and then set down next to you by the tee.

"Get out of bed and grab your camera," my wife exclaimed. "The sunlight is beautiful on the river."

With those words, I sprung from a deep sleep and hopped into the car: wiping sleep from my eyes as we headed down towards our favorite beach. However, before arriving, I noticed a dense fog hovering above the local golf course with sunlight shining through the trees. As you can see from this photo, I decided to stop.

Hunter is spending the summer working at Angel Fire Resort's Golf Course as a golf intern. He's helping me learn the game and is one of the most understated people I've ever met...until he swings a club.

Haven't had a lot of time to get through Iceland pics, so here's another transferred from the iPad. Spotted north-west of Reykjavik. Just off the road-way in seemingly the middle of nowhere. No signage, and its tucked between the lava fields and a nice stream. Whoever it is, they found a cool place to put a putting green.

Well, I guess as nobody has been allowed to play on the putting green at the beach and as it has been ordered to "lockdown" there has been no maintenance carried out ~ didn't walk far for this rusty shot!!

Flooding at Porthkerry Pak putting green goes down to the beach.....just a few pebbles and then it would join the Bristol Channel....or the sky lol..

Makes for a pretty photo though

Golfers on the 18th green of the Old Course

Gorgeous autumnal afternoon, lovely, golden sunlight and long shadows as the sun gets a bit lower in the sky every day. Crossing the putting green on Bruntsfield Links, if you follow the line of the path it leads your eye to the towering spire of Barclay Viewforth Church, which is tall enough to be a major landmark on the cityscape, and the handsome Victorian tenements on the left, overlooking the Links (would love to live in one of those, but way, way out of my price range!)

"The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas."

Last Sunday I came out to this location with the intention to shoot a promising sunset view. I believe I walked the whole golf course - with my equipment - looking for a shooting angle. Who said you don't exercise taking photos?

At one point, I came across - once again - this particular view which is one I like a lot, and have also photographed before.

So the challenge was how can this view be photographed differently? There was plenty of time left for my sunset shots. Initially I thought about some dramatic B&W.

In my experience, you better shoot what you have in front of you then waiting for something that can change in a heart beat or just never happen, especially in South Florida.

Since there was a lot of wind, and clouds were moving, I ended up choosing to make a rather complicated shot. It definitely had to be different.

I waited until a group of players arrived in their carts to the green for putting action. That was the hardest part.

To make a long explanation short, I shot this image in three steps. One sequence of 5 images for an HDR layer of the golf course and all the details. One LE image with a ND 10-stop filter exposed for the canal - to get a very smooth water flow, and one LE image with a ND 10-stop + a polarizer filter exposed for the clouds movement and sky contrast.

All post layers created in Photomatix and Camera Raw, and blended in PS CC.
