I’ve been suggesting people to buy gold for 20 years. Back in April 2003, gold was trading at USD $ 336 a troy ounce, as central banks around the world sold their gold reserves. Around that time, Bank of Canada's idiotic bureaucracy sold off every last ounce of gold in its reserves. Canada today is the only "rich" country in the world without a single ounce of gold in its state vault.
Today (2025-09-23) gold trades at USD $ 3,766 a troy ounce.
I'm sad to say, the U.S. is a train wreck in slow motion. No one listens to Washington anymore (except the MAGA crowds). Russia doesn't listen to the U.S., China doesn't, Israel most definitely doesn't (particularly during the Biden government). The United Kingdom, France and Germany don't. Most tellingly, the two countries most dependent on the U.S. economically, Canada and Mexico, also stop listening to the U.S.
If the U.S. Dollar and U.S. Treasuries (government bonds) continue to lose the world's trust, we are into a massively chaotic era.
I walked and attended Toronto's Stand with Ukraine rally today. The anti-Putin march began at Yonge Street and Dundas Street and walked to the Russian Consulate in Toronto at Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue. It was a 4-km walk.
In the past month, I've made three financial donations to Ukraine. I stand ready to donate more to help the people of Ukraine.
