SAX & BRASS & ROCK 'N' SOUL aus den Tiefen des Ruhrpotts und dem Herzen der Ruhrstadt.
So I was reading up about the 100pushups challenge, and decided to do the initial test to see how many I can do. Not even 1. It says "good form push-ups" and Jeff said my elbows need to be at 90degree angles, I need to get lower. This is as far as I can go. I tried it the "girly" way and I did 6! So yeah, it's going to take me longer than 6 weeks to get to 100. But Jeff said he's going to do it too so that should be fun!
As many times as I did this to get a picture my arms & abs are sore! I am feeling pretty unfit right now but I'll get there.
We're pretty sure some of you have already flipped through a fitness magazine, or browsed sites about bodybuilding or workouts, and inevitably come across images of muscular men with perky chests. While this is an extreme representation of developed pecs that many men strive for, strong and toned pecs are just as important for men as they are for women and go far beyond the aesthetics of fitness.
Your pecs are some of the strongest muscles in your upper body and play a key role in pushing movements, from slamming the door to soaping your hair in the shower. We know how important it is to include chest exercises in your workout, so you can feel confident that you're training those muscles by following our 8fit program. If you want more, try these bodyweight chest workouts and exercises at home.
Why are chest muscles important?
The chest area is made up of two main muscles, the pectorals major and minor, often referred to as the pectorals. The pectoralis major is the larger of the two muscles and runs across the upper chest, connects the shoulder and sternum and has a fan-like appearance. The pectoralis minor, on the other hand, is a small, thin, triangular shaped muscle that sits just below the pectoralis major.

What exactly do these muscles do? Well, they're pretty important when it comes to controlling your arm movements. Pull the arm towards the center of the body and twist until the arms are lifted. Consider lifting a child, swinging a tennis racket, or pushing a heavy object away from you.
Because these muscles occupy most of the chest wall, exercising them burns a significant amount of energy. If you want to lose a few pounds and get toned, this is a particularly good muscle to work on. This speeds up your metabolism quite a bit.
Recognizing the importance of this powerful muscle, we've developed two tailored workouts, with and without equipment, that you can do at home for a toned and toned chest.

It's old-fashioned, but with a twist: Classic push-ups and all their variations are one of the best exercises you can do to improve your chest strength. Varying your body position and duration works different parts of your chest to balance your upper body strength.
Here's how to do different push-up variations before you start exercising.
1. Regular pushups
This classic bodyweight exercise is a great place to start and will continue to be a staple of any full-body or upper-body workout. Be sure to use a wide grip, as this will work your pecs more than a narrow grip technique.
2. Incline pushups
If a standard push-up is too difficult for you at first, you can start with an incline push-up. The steeper the slope, the less pushing is required. It is also a good exercise to train your lower chest.
3. Refuse pushups
What goes up must also come down. These push-ups help you work your upper pecs and deltoids. You're also adding more body weight to the exercise than you would with a standard push-up, making it more difficult.
4. Plyometric Pushups
Are you ready to take action? These pushups can be done in a variety of fun and awesome ways, think clapping pushups. These bursts of powerful plyometric moves will get your muscles pumping.
5. Pumps on
Believe it or not, drastically slowing down a movement and using proper form will give you great conditioning results. By lowering yourself very slowly into a push-up and just as slowly pushing yourself back up to your starting position, you build muscle mass.
