There is an unwritten rule that every photographer must post one of these with unsettling regularity or face permanent exile to Facebook.

The Sting Ray name itself came from a 1959 concept race car that inspired the second-gen Corvette's design along with the 1961 Mako Shark concept. The car took a large generational styling leap and innovated some hallmarks that would be integral for generations to come.
Often in forest or woodland photography one goes to a lot of effort to find clean and tidy compositions. I find myself doing the same, but decided for a few shots to embrace the apparent chaos that is nature and avoid the order that we humans search for. In these two cases I think it worked out very well - there is a lot going on in the photos, but the compositions retain a kind of harmony, which is just what I was hoping for.
Post script - I gave up on my tripod between these two images, as it was such a pain trying to work it with one hand while holding an umbrella in the other. To get to reasonable shutter speeds in the dark and misty forest I decided to push the HP5+ I was shooting to 1600 ISO. For a two stop push I am happily surprised that the image turned out so free of grain.

You can see a development error on display (particles in the midle) - ran out of Sulfuric acid, thus made my Permanganate bleach even weaker than usually. That gave me an idea to push this bleach to the limits - to bleach with this poor man's bleach without additional time for compensation. Result: a tad underbleached - just a tad and without any additional time! When the situation repeats itself, I'll add a minute or two of bleaching time and bleach to completion.
This tells me that I'm on the right track with using dilute (~66%) Bleach to begin with by mixing parts 1A + 1B (as in recipe) + 1 Water. This has the additional bonus of splitting Parts A and B nicely in 10 working solutions! And using dilute bleach means less frequent handling of angry concentrated chemicals.
So - dilute bleach is safer for emulsion, safer to handle and it saves on chemicals. Best part - bleaching time stays the same!

A foggy morning at the Sault Canal- -Parks Canada National Historic Site.
The Sault Canal opened in 1895- - it was the world’s first electrically operated lock, and the world’s longest lock- -274 metres / 899 feet long and 18 metres / 59 feet wide. Closed in 1987 due to a lock wall collapse, the canal was reconstructed and reopened for recreational boating use in 1998.
Another of this particular orchid, taken handheld in reasonably soft daylight. One of the more successful frames from my first attempt at pushing a film.
Pentax ME Super, Pentax-M 50mm, Bergger Pancro 400 @800 in ID-11. The only edits made are to set the levels and remove some dust in photoshop.
If you like my photographs, why not consider buying a print at captures.life? I haven't yet finished building the site and putting in all of the terms and conditions and policies, but the bits that involve buying a print, having it delivered, and contacting me if anything isn't working or goes wrong are functioning just fine...
Kentmere Pan 400 is cheap and shurely isn't the most capable and resolving film out there, but man - it's perfectly usable even pushed 2 stops and the latitude presented is a pleasant aspect of it. And it tones nicely!
Reversed in PQ Universal + toned in Kala Namak or Himalayan Black Salt.
With everything going on at the time, I didn't find many opportunities to get out and photograph. This one morning I found a few minutes and set about finding some images. This composition was rather spontaneous, the unmoving bridge providing a strong counterpoint to the pounding river.

We were very lucky in that I only had to worry about if I was going to be able to get to work or not on a given day.
Many others lost a lot due to these torrential rains and my thoughts go out to them.

Catalan Nationalist Riots, Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona, October 2019.
An activist celebrates the creation of a burning barrier blocking the Gran Via at Passeig de Gracia - the upmarket central shopping street in Barcelona. This was triggered by the sentencing of a number of nationalist regional political figures for sedition and misuse of public funds in connection to the illegal 2017 independence referendum.
These photographs are a continuation of the State of Independence project, for which I was awarded an ARPS distinction in October 2018. It is a project that I had hoped would not need any continuation.
