By itself, fast flowing water isn't very interesting but when you go a little crazy with the sliders, the brush stokes come out along with colors, and reflections. Happy Sliders Sunday!

One thing about the Sliders Sunday Flickr Group, is that I probably wouldn't be experimenting with pushing the limits as much to see what would happen. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but it certainly creates a change in thinking about a photograph and that can't be all bad. Hope everyone has a "Happy Sliders Sunday!"

I'm a big admirer of black and white photography featuring images with a very strong tonal range - mostly because I haven't quite got the hang of it myself. Consequently, when I was editing pictures from yesterdays snowshoe excursion, I tried something similar while pushing the limits on my usual workflow.

As for the lighthouse itself, looking at the ice accumulation, it's not hard to imagine that the structure was severely battered over the years. The original was built in 1903 and had to be reconstructed several times. It was finally decommissioned with a metal structure in 1969. What you see now is a recreation from the original plans, which was built by a group of high school students in 1983. They must have done a pretty good job because it's still standing.

These Red Oak leaves were shot on an autumn day in October at the Camp Tamawaby Demonstration Woodlot on PEI. I took this photo at 64,000 ISO, 1/32000 second and f/8.0. Pushing the ISO almost as far as it will go and then pushing things more in post processing is an experiment which creates a lot of texture in the form of sensor noise. Nevertheless, Sometimes it is worthwhile pushing things in unusual directions. I rather like the unique attributes of the resulting image.

Photo taken with the Olympus OM-1 and Sigma 56mm f/1.4.

Magoo is getting VERY bold. And def does not want to be second on the totem pole. He silently maneuvered his way onto Tre's Throne. ( basically all of the sit-able and non sit-able objects are Tre's throne. :P ) I uploaded the pics in the reverse order that they happened. But i will put them in sequence here.
