Recently, another photog asked me to think about why I love using the 14mm lens. That's a good question, and I've been thinking about it. This image is the answer.
I love-- absolutely love-- seeing how perspective can be pulled, pushed, curved in, curved out, and/or flung afar with the 14 mm lens.
I did shoot this same scene with my 50 mm, and I like that one, too. Some viewers will prefer the traditional 50 mm perspective to the distortions of the 14 mm lens. Maybe one's preference with regard to perspective indicates a certain quality of personality...
Playing around with photoshop and different techniques to convert an image to black and white
in this case it was using 2 adjustment layers (hue and satuaration) setting the first to normal layer effect and then changing the adjustment layer to -100 saturation
then changing the second adjustment layer to layer effect color and then adjusting the hue
the advantage of this techinique is you see the differing channel adjustment as a preview
this was then finished off with levels and contrast adjustment layers

Pushing some stuff back to Ikea to return; turned out they didn't have the stuff I needed, so we ended up buying the same stuff back.
your gonna see some other cropping' of this same "PUSH" button at the bank drive-thru - in days to come... but i do believe this is my favorite.
A pair of bufflehead were moving rapidly away from the dock after they spotted me.
Understandable as it is still hunt season.

Corner of Woolwich and Woodlawn Roads, at Guelph's north end.
I don't care much for these crossing signals, some intersections have very short crossing times when the button isn't pushed and I find them scary as a downtown pedestrian. I'm fairly fit and still find some intersections a challenge to get across safely. One good example is at Wellington and Neeve streets in Guelph, odd too, as it's an area rife with pedestrian traffic, many students including young children, seniors and physically challenged people living at the Victor Davis apartment building.
Our city needs some thoughtful improvements in the areas surrounding downtown as well as at Gordon and Wellington streets. Hopefully we'll see the same beauty and functionality added to surrounding downtown areas as has been so graciously built all around the outside fringes of the city!
