The pushbutton switch is wired in series with a pink and clear LED to light the bay and the red LED in the bow plasma torpedo launcher.
Here's the mostly-completed board, which actually seems to work (after a little jumpering to work around the fact that I made a single-sided board).
Next, I have to write the code which actually controls the lighting, and wire up the pushbutton switch I'm going to use for making changes to the colors and/or pattern.

This is the brain box of the Polara Navigator pushbutton system. This can handle 4 pairs of ped pushbuttons, on the 2-wire system.
If you need more than 4 pairs of pushbuttons, you need to add another CCU, or go with the 4-wire Navigator system.

This is the conditon of the substrate for the northern sidings control panel after I'd done with it. Originally this panel was supposed to be like the other two, with islands of clear material forming channels along which a probe would be run to make contact with the studs for the point motors to be operated.
Unfortunately I chickened out of making this archipelago and decided to use orthodox pushbuttons instead. So I drilled the pilot holes in the substrate and the clear top layer (see next pic) and started opening out those in the substrate to take the body of the pushbuttons. I found out all too quickly that the holes were too close together - 10 mm in diameter and 10 mm apart. Duh!

The unit shall display the contents of the storage register (R) on binary displays. Also indicate the register-overflow condition. If the contents of the storage register is a number, it shall be in the sign-magnitude format. The machine operation shall be initiated by a pushbutton “clock.”

This Rockband Guitar has been modded with "clicky" pushbuttons so that it makes a nice, satisfying clicking sound when you strum. It also has a better tactile feel to each strum.

The PmodENC is a rotary shaft encoder with an integral push-button and slide switch to provide multiple types of GPIO inputs from the user. An encoder is commonly used in freely rotating knobs to detect how many "clicks" have occurred.
