Claireece Precious Jones endures abuse by her mother, rape by her father, growing up being poor, angry, illiterate, fat, unloved and generally unnoticed. And we learn about her through her own halting dialect. The sixteen-year-old girl is pushed by her courageous African-American teacher to learn to read, and discovers the truth about herself and her life. An intense story of adversity and the mechanisms to cope with it.
This was the scene all the way along Beech Lane, with cars being pushed to the side of the road, unable to get up the hills. Probably 20-30 cars were just left abandoned that I saw.
The karate tournament team spent this afternoon at Lowville Park, on an awesome toboggan run. It wasn't all fun and games, though, as at this point in time, these boys were tasked with pushing Mr. Guffroy up the hill on a toboggan. They fared well, but in the end, we ended up helping them just a wee bit.
On a side note, tobogganing is not the innocent sport it used to be. There were some collisions and bruises along the way.

World Tai Chi and Chi Qigong Day is an annual event held the last Saturday of April each year to promote the related disciplines of T'ai chi ch'uan and Qigong in nearly eighty countries since 1999.
The annual April event is open to the general public, and begins in the earliest time zones of Samoa at 10 am with the final events in the last time zones of Hawaii almost an entire day later. Celebrations include mass t'ai chi ch'uan and qigong exhibitions in many cities, and free classes in most participating cities
These photos were taken at the Seattle Chinese Garden and this event was taught by Sifu Resitia DeJesus the owner of Seattle Wushu Center
