I fondly remember my old cat, Mr. Purry Furry, with this tribute to cats and color. I think we all need a little dose of color in our lives as this long winter of our discontent lingers on.

In the Pacific Northwest we have an excessive heat warning, and we are suffering through unprecedented temperatures for June. Aargh! my air-conditioning is not scheduled to be installed for another two weeks. Heat records are falling and it's impossible find a cool spot in my house, so, for distraction from my misery, I'm re-processing a photo of my beloved Mr. Purry Furry who has since passed over the Rainbow Bridge at the ripe old age of 20 years. The original image can be found in the album "Mr. Purry Furry and Friends".

My cat, Mr. Purry Furry, is getting to be quite an old gentleman now, but he still "works" with me in the garden. He prefers a supervisory role to "hands on" :) He is a very pleasant companion!

It's always too soon to say good-bye! Born 20 years ago in my son's closet (his mother was a stray that we had taken in, not even knowing that she was pregnant), Mr. Purry Furry was a once-in-a-lifetime cat. For all those years, he was a constant part of my life - now he is gone. He died quickly with no warning signs of a sudden cardiovascular event. I have been missing his little cat face terribly these past few weeks. Always polite, he saved me from the heartbreaking decision to end his life to save him suffering - he was active to the end. I will miss his constant companionship and know that I will never have another cat exactly like him - my little buddy.

I’m easily overwhelmed by noise and prefer quiet. However, there are a few noises I don’t mind at all. Most nature sounds are wonderful. Music can calm my soul and the sound of Mike’s voice & laugh are joy to my ears.
Then there are kitty noises. They are bliss for me! I love to hear them meow, coo, and chirp. Purring, though, takes things to another level and melts any stress away. There’s nothing that could equal the delight of hearing that perfect sound and along with crickets chirping and rain, it’s the sweetest lullaby. How can such little furry beings be so full of goodness? They are pure magic to me.
I took a photo that I took of my beloved Mr. Purry Furry lazing in the sun to Deep Dream Generator. The result is a mosaic that is reminiscent of Byzantine/Roman mosaics. Mr. Purry Furry died in 2017, but I think that this image of him really captures his character perfectly.

...gorgeous three year old Hazey at CatChums is looking for a forever home. Although she is affectionate and purry, she took slight exception to the lighting equipment and it wasn't possible to get a background in her pen.
However, with a few little tricks the window behind her looks a bit like an '80s Lamborghini poster...hehe :) Lots more cats and kittens from Cat Chums coming up.

My cat, Mr. Purry Furry takes advantage of a late afternoon shaft of sunlight on a south facing deck in January. He will gladly soak up any sunlight that he can find.

Lake Illawarra used to be under the auspices of the Lake Illawarra authority .. it's 'golden years'.
Under this the lake and the jetties that surround the lake were well maintained - sadly the Authority was removed by penny pinching bureaucracy some years back and lake has been in decline for some time since.
Thankfully a concerted campaign has released some funding for jetty renewal - this one being one of the recipients. I'm glad to catch it deconstructed but can't wait till it's back in action as it's a great viewpoint of the heart of the Illawarra.

I'm rarely bored but if I'm restless picking up my camera helps. If all else fails there's always the furry purries.
This is Stella Cat staring at me. I do find her hard to read. However, in this case, I worked out that ‘her chair’ had inadvertently been piled high with teddy bears. How remiss is that.
We adopted Alfie 2 years ago today. He is the sweetest boy ❤️
Two years ago we were heartbroken after losing our beloved Max 🌈💔 but there was a little tuxedo cat waiting at #cramarcatrescue for somebody to choose him We know nothing about Alfie's history, only that somebody found him living in their garden and called the rescue to say there was a pregnant stray that needed rescuing. He came in and was discovered to be an FIV+, un-neutered boy who was estimated to be about 8 years old. He was covered in Ticks so was given the name Tick. He was very stressed when he came to the rescue but with the love and patience of the amazing carers at Cramar cat rescue he became the sweetest, cuddliest boy ❤️ We already had our protectapet enclosure in the garden so knew that our home was ideal for an FIV+ kitty, especially one with arthritis like Alfie ❤️ He came home on 4th September 2022 and it took him a few hours to feel safe but once he ventured out of his safe place, he was Alf, a sweet, purry, very cuddly, quirky, amazing little cat who we are so thankful for.

He's sixteen, which is well into a cat's senior years, and he's still as plush and handsome and huggable and snuggly as ever. And not the least bit smarter, he's still a dumbass after all these years, but such a good sweet soul! He's a nice, purry, well-behaved, low-IQ gentleman of a cat.

The ruler of our domestic domain is Mr. Purry Furry who has reached the venerable feline age of 20 years. He suffers from various ailments and doesn't move nearly as fast as he used to, but he still loves to lounge in a warm spot & soak up all the sun. Long may he reign!

My cat is slightly annoyed at a strange noise which interrupts his peaceful naptime. Of course, he must check it out! Mr. Purry Furry is a champion at catnaps and also, very protective of his domain!
My tabby cat, Mr. Purry Furry, was kind enough to let me use him as a subject for my macro lens. In this photo he is surveying his domain with an intense regal stare :)
This is Stella, our rescue cat. Her previous owners took her to the vet to be euthanised. The vet refused and gave her to the local pet sanctuary. The cat sanctuary told us black cats are especially hard to re-home. Stella is, in addition, partially sighted, making her even harder to place. However, I think Stella chose us and we’re very happy together.
August is traditionally our windiest month here in the Illawarra and today was definitely one of those days... with westerly winds exceeding 110km/h

Best. Cat. Ever. Odin is a true "teen," with personality up the ying yan. He is loving, gentle, holds hands with his paws, lays on our laptops while we're trying to do work, and bossy as can be when it comes to feeding time. Knows what he wants in life. Most loving cat we'll ever know.

Josey: It's Jean-Pleep! He's all purry and stuffs and it's makin' the bed all tickly! Teehee!
Hmmm... I guess his purring was vibrating the bed! lol!
Six weeks ago, this little sprat was malnourished, life on the streets had left him underweight and undersized, and his fur was coarse and ratty. He's now doubled in size at least, his fur is sleek and silky, he's glowing with health and energy!
And all because he's gone through a couple of bags of kitten chow (right).

This is Mister Meow Meow who is twelve and it seems that this is the first winter he has really felt the cold. He's short-haired but had always been a rugged alpha male-type. Effectively acting like he owns the surrounding area.
This year though he's been much more of a house cat and has spent most of this time snuggled up in a fake-fur blanket.
It's looking like February is going to continue with the cold and wet weather so it will be easy to find Mister whenever he's needed. And of course it's lovely to have him around so much ❤️.
