The other day while I was at St Francis I caught this snap of Sylvester destroying the mouse that was on the scratch-post out in the Lions Den. They love to be out in our outside area when the weather is nice. It was good to see Sylvester playing on the scratch-post, I must now add replacing that toy mouse on the list of jobs to do
I am really pleased to say that following our Amazon wish list going live last week we have already received no end of cat goodies. We have received toys, food, cat treats, a drink fountain, a mop & bucket, lots of kitchen rolls, cat carriers and some electric fly killers and a scratch-post
So to all of our followers and supporters who have purchased these, thank you, they are all very much appreciated

Today Will has been to the vets. There have been a few concerns that he hasn't quite been himself the past couple of days and last night we were concerned about his breathing. We booked him in to our vets this morning and it appears that he has got a bad cut on his tongue, which knowing Will may have happened in a little scuffle as in the past he has been affectionately known as a 'hooligan' as he has been known to raise a paw or two over the years. It also seems that he is suffering from some diarrhoea so he has had some antibiotics and is now resting in our isolation area so that we can monitor his diet better over the next week or so
This was the first time we have used our new cat carriers which we received the other day off our Amazon wish list and I have to say I think he was a lot more comfy in it, it was also nice as there is a small flap where you can get your hand in to help comfort them while they are waiting at the vets. So a big thank you goes to the kind supporter who bought these for us

Zoe's usual spot is on the shelf by the back door as she always likes to be one of the first to greet us volunteers. But here she is cuddled up in a cat bed in the Garden Room.
You can see one of the cat fountains which have been kindly purchased for us off our Amazon wish list. We have received two of them already and know that a third will be on its way to us soon

Here is Pendle who at the time of me taking this photo was more interested in the piece of chicken that I had in my other hand rather than posing for a picture. He did enjoy his little treat
I am pleased to say that Pendle is currently doing very well. Following a consultation with our vet he is still on some daily medication after the concern we had a few weeks ago regarding a possible tumour on his anal gland. Our volunteers monitor him daily to see how he is and he will be going back to the vets for another check up soon. I know one thing, Pendle is a real fighter

Continuing our black and white theme for this week is Sly Sylvester. He has earn't his 'sly' name by sneakily getting into the kitchen area at feeding times. He is very good once in there and will happily sit in the side getting first choice at whatever is being dished up.

Update on Will
Will's blood test results have come back and thankfully all looks alright with his liver and kidneys. Sadly though we still don't know what is wrong with him so we are currently going through the process of elimination. We work closely with our resident vet and will be in regular contact with them. Will is staying at the vets so that he can be monitored closely and he will stay on his drip and antibiotics until we know more
A big thank you to all of our supporters and followers who have sent Will such lovely and caring comments. They are much appreciated from us all at sfhfc at this worrying time

I am pleased to say that Will has been back at sfhfc for just over a week now since his visit to the vets. Early signs are promising although he is still having some diarrhoea issues. Here he was waiting in the kitchen for his dinner, only to be disappointed when he realised that it was only his sensitivity food which he is having at the moment.

amandavonriot: I really hate to spam you here but I'm trying to get word out about what's going on. An American university is doing horrible, cruel, unthinkable experiments on cats and I was hoping that maybe you could encourage some of your American followers to go to change.org and sign the petition to stop their testing. What they've done to those poor innocent animals is cruel in every sense of the word. So if you could please pass this along I'd be so grateful. P.S. there's a video on the website of the documented experiments/abuse. DO NOT watch it unless you want nightmares. Thank you for your time.

As a registered charity we have to be careful about what we post. It is horrible when you hear of such cruelty like this. The trouble is that we don't want to set a trend doing these posts. We have been asked to do this in the past but it is hard to choose which to post about. If we don't share some but then do others it can become difficult. I hope you understand and I am truly appalled at any sort of cruelty to any animal .

This week Sophie came to visit our residents at St Francis. Sophie is doing a skydive on 1st September to help raise funds for sfhfc. We were so thrilled when she got in touch with us. Sophie has always been a cat lover having grown up with cats and told us that she had chosen our charity to help as we are a small local cat charity.
While Sophie was at St Francis she got to meet all of the residents which she will be helping. Once she sat down Joy was first on her knee to enjoy some fuss while Francis sat beside her enjoying some fuss. Shy-Annie was another residents who was quick to get up on the sofa for some love but on this occasion she didn't fancy sticking around for a photo.
At the moment Sophie is just over half way to reaching her target of £250. Please help her to reach her target by donating any amount which you can.
Alternatively, if you are a bit of a daredevil like Sophie, or if there is another activity which you would like to do to raise money for our charity then you can always use the Charity Giving website. There you can have your own dedicated fund raising page and choose our charity to donate to.
