Try to forget what objects you have before you -

a tree, a house, a field, or whatever.

Merely think, 'Here is a little square of blue,

here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,'

and paint it just as it looks to you,

the exact color and shape,

until it gives you your own impression of the scene before you.

On Saturday afternoons when all the things are done in the house and there’s no real work to be done, I play Bach and Chopin and turn it up real loudly and get a good bottle of chardonnay and sit out on my deck and look out at the garden.

Excuse me if I invaded my stream of flowers, but this are the first shots with new camera and there are very fond :)

Scusate tanto se ho invaso lo stream di fiori, ma sono i primi scatti con la nuova macchina fotografica e ci sono molto affezionata :-)

With the Ravens win last weekend, it meant at least one more week to slide some fun purple.

Downtown is awash in buildings lit with purple lights. Since I never seem to get down there at night to take any pics, I have to make my own. Happy Sliders Sunday & go Ravens!!

Hey flickr friends, my Colorado Rockies are in the WORLD SERIES for the first time ever. We've waited a long time for this week to happen AND against the Boston Red Sox to boot. Should be a great series.

I took this shot on 10/19. Although few people were around the lights were on for the grounds crew to prepare the field. The HDR is from three shots. I couldn't resist adding a shade of Colorado Rockies purple to the evening sky.

With mountain mist behind them and tradition beneath their feet, two young dancers take flight in the Highland Dancing competition at the Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and Strathyre Highland Games and Gathering. Their poise is matched only by the precision of every leap, step, and swirl of purple tartan — a celebration of discipline, grace, and Highland spirit.

Day 15 of 365 (Year Four)

So tomorrow night is a big night here in Baltimore. The Ravens, after their successful stomping of New England, take on Indianapolis. I'm hoping to be just as surprised as I was last week with tomorrow night's game. I hate to say it, but I really didn't think we'd beat New England.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fair weather fan, and until they award the trophy at the end of the Super Bowl I still always think there is a chance the Ravens could pull it off (regardless of the season they had). Sure I know that it is unlikely that a team that isn't playing in the Super Bowl is going to win the trophy, but hey, it ain't over till the fat lady sings or the old guy awards the trophy. Who knows, there could be massive team disqualifications or a meteor or something. Until they hand over the trophy and announce the winner, there is always a chance.

But, as much fun as I have with that, I am still a realist and I really didn't think we'd win last week. Our record on the road wasn't that great and New England's at home record was, plus as strong a team as they are, especially at home, all led me believe that we would be hard pressed to walk away with the win. I hoped we would, but feared the worst. I was more than pleasantly surprised. I'm hoping to be just as surprised.

As much as I hate to admit it, being that I still hold a grudge against the Colts (if you don't know to what I refer, you can look up the Colts history online), they are a very strong team. I'm not saying that the Ravens aren't a strong team, especially after last weeks game, but they are gonna have to work hard to walk away with the win. I think they can do it and I really hope they do. I know me and Savanah will be pulling for them tomorrow night. Hell, the game ain't till tomorrow night and I'm already dressed and ready!

Day 10 of 365 (Year Four)

So this isn't the shot I was planning on today, but after that game today and a win over New England I had to change my planned shot. I'll eventually get around to the shot(s) I've wanted to shoot for the past few days. It isn't that big of a deal, just something silly that I saw online and wanted to do, but after that game today, well, I had to show off my purple pride.

Day 16 of 365 (Year Four)

And this wasn't our season. As I said yesterday, I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way. The Colts played a great game and the Ravens. . .well, they made there share of mistakes. There were a few penalties I had issues with, but most of them, I hate to say it, I agreed with. It was a real shame to see two almost back to back interceptions come to nothing.

Oh well. They gave us a good season. They may not be taking home Super Bowl rings this year, but they did make it further than a lot of other teams and there is no shame in that.

There can only be one winner and it isn't us this year, but there is always next year. So until then, the jersey is folded up and put away for safe keeping.

Skybox Winner Sherry stopped by with a few of her lucky group of 24 that would attend the Sunday's game.
