C’est en 2021 qu’Aurélia Sendra a commencé à immortaliser le milieu du punk hardcore, du stoner et du doom. Les concerts reprenaient alors peu à peu, et la photographe, adepte de ces sonorités, redécouvrait cette scène musicale et son public, les convictions et les politisations qui les animent. Portée par une volonté de constituer des archives, elle souhaitait témoigner de l’évolution du metal en France où, l’année passée, il a grandement gagné en popularité.
Ses portraits cristallisent ainsi l’effervescence d’une culture. Ils capturent « l’état de transe » des artistes au cours de leurs performances et l’ambiance qui règne dans la salle, l’engouement des fans. «
À travers cette démarche, elle souhaite finalement « raconter de manière presque anthropologique cette nouvelle génération ».

It was in 2021 that Aurélia Sendra began to immortalize the hardcore punk, stoner and doom scene. Concerts were gradually starting up again, and the photographer, a fan of these sounds, was rediscovering this music scene and its audience, the convictions and politicizations that drive them. Driven by a desire to build archives, she wanted to bear witness to the evolution of metal in France where, last year, it has greatly gained in popularity.
Her portraits thus crystallize the effervescence of a culture. They capture the "trance state" of the artists during their performances and the atmosphere that reigns in the room, the enthusiasm of the fans.
Through this approach, she ultimately wants to "tell the story of this new generation in an almost anthropological way".

Happy belated birthday to the legendary CBGB which opened on the Bowery on December 10th in 1973. CBGB became known as the birthplace of American punk rock, giving groups such as Television, The Ramones, Patti Smith, and Blondie their start. 🎶 This iconic #club lost its lease and closed in 2006 and a John Varvatos clothing store took over the former #storefront of CBGB but preserved some of the original graffiti-covered walls of CBGB and even the newer bathroom 🚽in the store has a nod to its infamous graffiti past. Our photo of CBGB appears in our book “Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York”.

Here some poor dude had his nose bloodied but he was carried to salvation. Fucked Up live in New Haven in Sept 2010 in some quaint little space above Toad's Place where 100 people witnessed loud punk rock with 3 guitars and one large man taking over the room.
