I love seeing classic cars sitting around half painted, half rusted, half everything =D. I saw this buggy sitting on the side of the street as I roamed the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The Volkswagen Beetle is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and beloved vehicles of all time. Though it was discontinued in the early 2000s, there's no denying that its influence and appeal still linger to this day. It's so beloved that it's been given many affectionate nicknames, such as “Slug Bug” and “Punch Buggy.”

Met up with my friend Kristen earlier today to rig up her awesome '67 Beetle. We headed to a back road and used a nice cornfield as the back drop with some nice light being provided by a setting sun (side note, it's very depressing how early and quickly the sun is going down, I never get used to that).

My daughter plays this really annoying game in the car, apparently invented when I was a child in the 1960s and revived around 2009 by an advertising campaign, in which every time she sees a Volkswagen Beetle she calls out Punch Buggy while hitting me in the shoulder. While I am driving. She immediately adds No Punch Backs--I suppose to indicate I am not permitted to deck her in retaliation. I read in Wikipedia that sometimes yellow and orange beetles merit a double punch as the player calls out Punch Buggy Cheddar. That must be in the UK and in Wisconsin. I think my daughter does something similar when she says Double Punch Buggy but I haven't learned when the double punch is warranted. I also read that sometimes the phrase Slug Bug is used instead. I wonder if this game is played only in English speaking countries, or whether there are variants in different languages. Also I can't wait until my daughter learns to drive so I can return years of torment.
The title says it all......yesterday I was out for a photo shoot with my good friend Phil (WpgBuzz). Years ago Phil and I would play the punch buggy game, didn't matter where we were, no one won and at the end of the day we both would have sore arms and shoulders.
Now we are much older and I hope wiser too, but when I saw this beauty abandoned in the snow along the Red River I sure thought about throwing that punch one more time......

So I'm walking along minding my own business. . . Look left and BLAM! There it was. Like a set out of a movie. Just sat there screaming at me.. "Take my picture!"
If you can think of any tags that relate to Beetle cars... feel free to add.
Updated classic. Georges Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte" with parking issues.
While waiting for my car this morning, I took a few photos of this lovely vintage VW bug (punchbuggy).
Picture Summer Day 20
Assignment: When Order is in Order
Spotted this gorgeous blue/green 1960s VW Bug and was happy to discover in it the "patterns, lines, repeating shapes" that I was looking for for today's Picture Summer assignment.
I would have preferred to shoot this lower, but the license plate detracted from the feel.
Another day of taking almost no photos. I hope I can get past this slump soon.
