2011 Hawkins-Korte-Poplin Family Pumpkins

carved by April

A closeup of the pumpkin that Steve carved for us. Since Evan’s costume was a (Minecraft) dragon, we decided to do a dragon on the pumpkin this year. I found a fairly simple design on the internet, and Steve added a knight, since our pumpkin was more horizontal than vertical. A lot of the crayon that he used to draw the design wouldn't come off after, but I didn't mind it.

Davy Jones - Carved by Jill

Evan drew on his little pumpkin with Sharpie almost immediately after we brought it home, but since I suggested he grab it for pictures, he added a little more that day.

I bought three pumpkins to carve. This is the lone wolf. The Third one never got carved. But it did become dog treats, so A+.

I havent visited Flickr for many months. Photography has taken a back seat in my life in 2014. After attempting a 365 in 2013 I got bored, it was overkill for me. Maybe i'm a bit fickle, who knows!

Anyway, I did take some pics of my Halloween pumpkins. This is my favourite! I carved it for my partners boss at work. I was rewarded with a very nice bottle of red wine!

Pumpkin Carving 2012

Adam with his design all ready to go

Last stage, shaving off the skin to make details in all of the rectangles. Tried to make it as random as possible; I pretended I was designing little areas/cities on the globe. When I ran out of ideas I started abstracting flag designs or alphanumeric characters or simple objects.

All the credit goes to Noel Dickover of fantasypumpkins.com for putting up a great tutorial on carving the Death Star.

Ineke hates it, I'm obviously ecstatic about it.

My first pumkin ever carved from a stencil...I am down with the stencils!!
