Pumping station "De Lijnden" dates back to 1849 and was used to reclaim the lake that is currently known as the "Haarlemmermeer" between 1849 and 1852. Today, airplanes land and take of from the former lake as this is where Schiphol Amsterdam airport is located.
The steam-driven pumping station was modernized several times and was finally decommisioned in 2005 when it was replaced by a modern pumping station.
The old building has been declared a monument and will be preserved as a wonderful example of neogothic design of the industrial revolution.
This is a pump located in the pottery village here in Okinawa Japan. I really liked it's antique look.

This is an old shed I've been driving by for years and finally decided it was time to photograph. Inside is an old hand water pump.
Pump action rubberband shotgun. Fires #19 standard rubber bands with a 22 band capacity. Birch and walnut.
One of the pipe connections snapped off of the pump so rather than buying a new one I repaired it. I cut off the remaining plastic pipe connectors and used two metal hose adapters in their place.

Sited half a mile from the big house, down in the wooded valley, The banging of the pump's mechanism travels up the old iron pipe that goes to the house, and can be heard in certain locations a hundred metres away echoing around the valley, like mysterious "Tommy knockers"
It is powered only by the small flow of water (that you see exiting the pump) from a purpose built pond on slightly higher ground approximately 50 yards away.
