I saw this pump track and I was surprised that it was opened while I was taking photos of the Williamsburg Bridge in Black and White with my Nikon F100 Film camera. All of these photos were shot with Kodak Color Plus ISO 200 speed. The lens I was using was a vintage Nikon AIS 35-70mm Macro Lens F3.3-4.5. This bike event was put together by www.sugarcayne.com

Also known as the George Reyer Pumping Station and Omohundro Water Plant these terrific looking brick buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but are secured behind chain link fencing. First time visitors to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge are often shocked to find active oil and natural gas extraction taking place on a wildlife refuge. A person or organization that owns a piece of property may not own the valuable commodities below the surface if rights to these were not secured at the time of purchase. These mineral rights may in fact belong to a family or other entity that has not been on the land for over a hundred years. Rights to a proven oil field are not likely to be yielded.

Hagerman NWR recently celebrated its 70th anniversary and to my knowledge has never experienced a major oil spill that threatened wildlife though there have been some minor leaks that were detected early and corrected.
Hagerman hosts thousands of migratory waterfowl and songbirds each year as well as threatened or endangered nesters like Bald Eagle and Interior Least Tern and visitors like Peregrine Falcon, Whooping Crane, Piping Plover and Interior Snowy Plover.
On the plus side the raised pads and roads that connect the oil wells allow visiting birders, photographers and fishermen access far out into Lake Texoma and creates additional habitat for wildlife. KN

USAGE:
TO USE AS AN AIR PUMP: Place the air pressure hose in to the bottom nozzle of pump, tighten securely and begin pumping. To inflate footballs, beach balls, etc. , use an inflation needle (not included) into the threaded adaptor on the end of the air pressure hose.
TO CHANGE OIL: Follow steps 1-2 and then insert one end of the black converter pieces. Then insert the narrow end of the converter piece into the end of the orange intake hose (top nozzle) . Insert the black dipstick tube into the engine dipstick hole until it reaches the bottom of the crankcase. Place the orange discharge hose into the drain pan and start pumping.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Slip black connector over the end of one orange hose. Insert the end into the top nozzle (intake valve) of the pump. Slide the black connector over the nozzle end and tighten securely.
2. Repeat Step 1 using the second orange hose and insert into the bottom nozzle (discharge valve) of the pump and tighten securely.
3. To begin the siphon process, put the orange hose form the intake valve into the liquid needing to be transferred and put the orange hose from the discharge valve into where the liquid is to go. Make sure the discharge hose is lower than the intake hose.
4. prime the siphon pump with 3-4 pumps of the plunger. Once the liquid begins to flow, it will flow without any further pumping.
TO CLEAN: Usually, all that is needed for cleaning is flushing the pump and hoses with water.

This is a Fine Art photo of a vintage Bennett gas pump. Bennett was one of the main manufacturers of gas pumps. Their client list includes Sinclair, Texaco, Mobil and Gulf. They had hit their stride in the 1940s, perfecting the issue of the internal operations of the pump system. The old gravity fed pumps were being faded out, because the newer power fed pumps offered the purchaser a more accurate reading on how much gas was really pumped and more decisive read on what they owed. This photo of the Bennett Gas Pump should reside in every congressman's office, stating the fact its internal perfections give an accurate read on what the tax payer really owes.
