I was lucky enough to have a dad that introduced me to the old classics at a young age - I love Earle Stanley Gardner, Dick Francis novels - I think that I've read them all at least 10 times. I am an avid reader, from slushy romances to a good crime thriller. I am currently reading Michael Robotham - if you like suspense and a nail biting psychological thriller - read it. It is so hectic that I'm too scared to read the next chapter . . . . . . . . . . . .

Does he look like a bitch?
"Pulp Fiction" is one of the movies I like very much (and honestly, who doesn't?) and I've had Vincent's and Jule's minifigs ready for a very long time. Finally a larger scene is ready, hope you'll enjoy!

I hope you like my tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s box office smash 😊 I usually like to take inspiration from my source material without directly copying it, so I have an idea and then follow my own creative impulses. I don’t know why but those images of Uma Thurman in what looks like a motel bedroom ( I think they were publicity shots, not stills from a scene) brought to mind the kind of decor that used to inhabit those spaces for decades. So, while the movie is apparently set in the early eighties I decided to go down the road of 1970s kitsch, perhaps a style of decor that might have been favoured by motel owners. So I chose to feature some art that reflects that idea - the scantily clad nymph on the left is by a painter usually known as J H Lynch but the actual identity of that painter is a mystery. The painting on the right is by Vladimir Tretchikoff..
This whole idea came from dressing my gorgeous Erin in the black wig I bought from Julia Leroy ( Culte De Paris). I just love Julia’s wigs, they always look amazing on my bald Erin (who I have kept bald especially so she can wear wigs! ). The rest of her outfit is the bra top (customised) from Faces of Adele, pants from Sister Moguls Giselle and flowery shrug from Vanity & Glamour Nadja.
I usually need to make some elements to add the finishing touches to my dioramas and in this case, I made the bedspread from a scarf/pashmina, the lamp is made from a small vase bought in a charity shop and the lampshde is a recycled acetate essay folder covered in fabric (you may recognise this fabric from one of my dresses!). Finally I printed the book covers for the books on the bed - I actually found the one used in the publicity stills with Uma.
This one is for Lindsey and Mychelle and Leigh and James and Jenny and all of you out there who love Pulp as much as I do and best of all adore the man, the only, sir Jarvis Cocker.
As always, the best photographs elude me, either being just before or just after pressing the shutter. When I photographed these two young ladies, I took two photos and, as I passed them on my way toward the church, I gave one to the tall blond. Her beautiful face lit up with surprise and delight as she said "Oh! Merci beaucoup monsieur!" I wish I had the presence of mind to try and capture that, not for fear of forgetting, because the the warmth of it will stay with me but because the beauty of her smile was worth sharing.
These were made as part of a pulp- fiction set i call them "gangsta cakes"
and am making a series..lol they are cute but dangerous! :)
the pulp mill across the bay from eureka, lighting up the night and reflected in the dirty, dirty water... I would never swim in this bay.
Roger sent me a bunch of his pulp SF/fantasy magazines a couple of weeks before he died. And now, I'm also helping out his estate by cataloguing and appraising the rest of his collection.
Many of them have labels in them that he pasted in and dated when he was a teenager. Reading these books is a very special experience.
I wrote a piece for RogerEbert.com about these pulps. Roger was many things. He was also a science fiction and fantasy nerd. A collecting, indexing, letter-writing, convention-going, autograph-line-waiting nerd. Just like so many of us.
